I appreciate that interest was shown by a small number of parents and I encourage those parents, and any other interested persons, to return for the re-scheduled meeting to be held on Wednesday 12 th December 2012 at 2pm. Please sign-on in the school office on your arrival. Principal’s Morning Tea This Friday is the last Principal’s Morning Tea for 2012. Invitations for parents of children who have been drawn to attend the morning tea have been sent. If you received an invitation please RSVP to ensure we cater for the correct number of people. Kindergarten Orientation This morning was the orientation for the parents of our 2013 kindergarten. It was great to meet the variety of new and familiar faces that make up this parent body. I trust the information shared was relevant and assists in making the transition to ‘big school’ in 2013 easier. My thanks to Mrs. Holt for organising this activity. While many people contribute to the orientation it was Mrs. Holt organisation that assisted to make the morning a success. 2013 Classrooms You would be aware that our school has experienced a significant reduction in student numbers that reflects the large tracts of town house demolition within the public housing estate. While I am confident our school will return to 300+ student enrolments in the next seven to ten years, that is still some way off. I have discussed with staff the option of bringing the six mainstream classes closer together from 2013. I believe Campbellfield will field six mainstream classes for two or three years before the One Minto rebuild provides new student enrolments. As of next year, all six mainstream classes will be held in the two blocks of classrooms nearest the large COLA, ie. north of the school hall. The current kindergarten block will house support services such as our new Instructional Leaders, Home Reading resources and other provisions. Moving all mainstream students to one area assists in providing security to our classrooms as teachers are all within the one area. The MCU will remain in the current location with six permanent staff. It is envisaged that as Campbellfield grows the kindergarten block will return to K-2 use. I believe we can cater for seven to eight mainstream classes in the two blocks north of the school hall so it will likely be at least three years (2015) before the kindergarten block returns to regular classroom use.
