Well, I want to apologize to our Brookwood students who I did not mention this past Sunday when I talked about football. I thought your season started August 24.  We also celebrate your team’s win last week. It was great receiving new members August 12, in the 8:45 service, and August 19, in our 11:00 service.  We also had the joy of celebrating the Baptism of Vivienne Florence Gregory in our 11:00 am service. It is a joy to serve a Church that welcomes new members and places importance on ministry to our young children.

YOUNG LEARNERS ACADEMYIS SENDING LOTS OF HUGS AND SMILES YOUR WAY! Thanks to your generosity, we have been able to purchase the items needed to renovate two of the most high traffic classrooms in the Children’s Ministry Building. Thank you for your response to this need and for the support and encouragement you give to this exciting ministry of our church. We wish you could have seen the excitement on the children’s (and the teachers’) faces.

KIDZQUEST 2018: THIS WILD LIFE Registration for Kidzquest 2018 is now open!  Kidzquest is a week-end long retreat for children in grades 3-6, at Epworth-by-the-Sea on St. Simons Island GA.  The dates this year are September 21-23.  If your third-sixth grader wants to attend, please bring a deposit of $35 to the church office and Laurie will register you. (You do not register yourself.) The total cost of the weekend is $135.  The price is the same for all kids and adults Chaperones are always needed. All adults who wish to chaperone must complete Safe Sanctuaries Training before the trip. The deadline for registration is Wednesday, September 5.  This event fills up quickly, so don’t delay!

ACOLYTESAll current acolytes and any student that is interested in serving as an acolyte this year is invited to come have pizza and enjoy fellowship with each other at 5:00pm Sunday, August 26, in the church library. All children from 5th grade and up are welcome to join the acolyte ministry and we look forward to having you. Thank you for your support!

DISCIPLESHIP ACADEMYThe second semester of Discipleship Academy is set to resume again soon on Sundays at 10am.  Our intent is to cover the most vital topics that every follower of Jesus should know within the time frame of one year.  First you get to hear a teaching from one of our many gifted teachers, followed by a time of small group discussion and application. For planning purposes we are trying to get a better estimate of participation this semester.  If you are planning on participating this semester, please take a moment to email Chris Goff at cgoff@tfumc.com or leave him a message at the office (226-0840) this week.

VISION FOR MORNINGSIDE PROJECT As you might have heard, Chris Goff is moving forward with plans to launch a new ministry at the site of the old Morningside Church, with the support of our District and Conference. This will be a new independent ministry to reach the unchurched in our community, and not an ongoing ministry of TFUMC. TFUMC will likely be providing some initial limited funding to help launch this new ministry and we will also be sending a few of our members who feel called to this new work. If you would like to hear more about the vision for this new church and how it will reach unreached people in our community, you are invited to attend a meeting in the Chapel this morning at 10:00am or 11:00am.

Some will be outside near the sanctuary, and one will be set-up with a backdrop in the lobby of the Fellowship Building.
