Te new Canadian Prime Minister will have a ClimateWelcome at 24 Sussex Drive in Ottawa, and Castlegar citi-zens will be supporting this action.

Te international environmental group 350.org willgreet the Prime Minister with a peaceful demonstrationat his residence on November 5.Te next United NationsClimate Change Conference starts in Paris on November30, and it is for this reason that urgent action is beingtaken to ensure that climate justice is an immediate pri-ority for our Prime Minister and cabinet.

Te Castlegar Citizens Concerned about the ClimateCrisis is a non-denominational group which has sent a

etter o support an various sym o ic items to s ow t eirsolidarity with those demonstrating in Ottawa. One ofthose symbols is a small bottle of water from the Colum-bia-Kootenay river system, as safe water supplies are inmany ways threatened at present, and water itself can bringthe threat of devastating oods because of climate change.

According to Concerned Citizen, Amanda Comman-deur, “For too many years Canada has been given theFossil award for inhibiting progress in combatting climatechange. We want our country to lead the way to a saferenvironment for future generations.”

In order to increase awareness, the local group is also plan-ning a peaceful action in Castlegar at the end of November,immediately prior to the climate summit in Paris.
