EFFICIENCY WITH THE NEW DURAMAX

THE NEW 2.5 DIESEL ENGINE With 4 cylinders, 16 valves and

163 horsepower at its disposal, the robust 2.5-liter Duramax

diesel engine delivers 380 nm of torque at 2,000 rpm. While

more power is delivered, less fuel is consumed thanks to the

direct injection system. Meanwhile, the turbocharger and

intercooler system work together to regulate the temperature

and density of the air being circulated in the engine at any

time, improving combustion as well as providing greater

horsepower and torque. The forceful engine is matched to a

smooth-shifting 6-speed manual transmission that makes

shifting gears a breeze whether driving in heavy traffic

conditions or cruising on highways.

THE NEW 2.8 DIESEL ENGINE Duramax, the latest develop-

ment in the legendary Duramax family, is a powerful 2.8-liter

diesel engine with 4 cylinders and 16 valves that churns out an

impressive 200 horsepower and 440 nm of torque at 2,000

rpm. This high-performance, fuel-efficient engine employs a

direct injection system, Variable Geometry Turbo and an

intercooler to boost torque at low revolutions. A lightweight

servo motor controlled by the ECM (Engine Control Module)

dramatically improves the driving performance. In the new

Trailblazer, the Duramax engine is matched with a 6-speed

Active Select automatic transmission. Power is delivered with

great consistency and optimal fuel efficiency is obtained with

an overdrive gear of two gear ratios, making driving a lot more

enjoyable with precise gear changes at any given moment.

HDC (HILL DESCENT CONTROL)As the vehicle proceeds down a steep

slope, simply activate HDC and the system

will ensure that the engine and the brakes

work together automatically in order to

optimize and limit the speed of the vehicle,

making the descent smoother and safer.

HSA (HILL START ASSIST)The HSA prevents the car from sliding

away when stopped or parked on a steep

slope. The function activates automatically

to hold the car stationary after the brake

is released, making it easier and safer for

the driver to start the vehicle again on a hill.

ACTIVE SAFETY The highly durable body frame of the

Trailblazer is capable of withstanding harsh bending forces.

With the extra support beams inside the door panels, impact

force from a side collision is optimally absorbed, making the

passenger cabin a safety zone. The chassis itself has been

totally redesigned with ‘nine cross members’ and a precise

structural calculation to ensure optimum resistance against

bending force. As a result, stability and traction operate at

maximum even when the vehicle is fully loaded.

SUSPENSION Comfort and traction are maximized with the

use of independent double wishbone suspension on the front,

and coil springs on the rear. Drive confidently with the excellent

suspension system specifically designed to support the vehicle

in virtually any conditions.

PASSIVE SAFETY Advanced Passive Safety features include

double SRS airbags and safety belts with pretensioners and

load limit. A large, highly resistant chassis and a body frame

structure with side beams help protect the passenger cabin

from a side collision. The collapsible safety steering wheel

reduces the force of impact to the chest in the event of a front

collision. A double-layer laminated windshield retains the

shattered glass which would otherwise be dispersed as

shards, hence effectively minimizing injury.
