DEFERMENT OF ENTRYA successful applicant may be allowed to defer registration for a period of one (1) year only. This deferment must be applied and approved by the center.

WITHHOLDING OR WITHDRAWAL OF ADMISSIONThe center has the right to withhold or withdraw admissions if there is an indication of falsehood during the process of application.

ATTENDANCE AND TARDINESS Learners are expected to attend each meeting of each scheduled class for which they are officially registered. 1. Learners are responsible for knowing their trainer’s attendance policies as

stated in the syllabus. 2. For planned absences, notice must be given before the missed class meeting. 3. In the case of unexpected absences, documentation must be provided as soon

after the absence as possible. 4. Learners who are absent for the reasons listed below must inform their

trainers of their absence and provide documentation. a. Official University activitiesb. Illnessc. Death of a family memberd. Inclement weathere. Religious reasons, e.g. Hajj pilgrimage 5. In the case of rare and compelling circumstances not listed above, learners

should make every effort to discuss reasonable accommodations with their trainers in advance (if feasible) or as soon as possible afterward.

6. Learners are expected to be in their class activity on time. 7. Three class sessions of tardiness per course whether arriving late or leaving

early or a combination of both will be counted as one unexcused absence.

CREDIT RECOGNITION, ACCUMULATION AND TRANSFER Trainees with prior learning qualifications may be granted credit recognition upon application and submission of necessary documents as valid proofs of the qualification.1. Learner who are officially registered in programme of study and may be

entitled to credit recognition are directed by the trainer to the ProgrammeOfficer as soon as possible.

2. Applicant fills in the application form and it is logged in at the Registry and administration fee paid. If fee not paid, application placed on hold until paid.

3. Programme Officer appoints two assessors, who discusses application with learner and advises on compilation of evidence

4. Learner prepares evidence and forwards them to the assessors5. The application for credit recognition maybe granted if it meets the

requirements set by NGN or maybe recommended for an appeal.

ATTENDANCE An excused absence will be given in the case of illness, death in the family, religious holiday, or a prior authorized activity. A doctor's note may be required for an extended illness or excessive absences.

PHONE USEMobile phone should be muted and restricted during classes.

COMPUTER LABORATORY GUIDELINES AND POLICIES1. Inform the instructor if there’s any defect, error or damage observed at the

computer (hardware/software) assigned or if there are any missing peripherals (mouse, keyboard, etc.)

2. Eating, drinking, and littering are prohibited inside the computer laboratory.3. Users are responsible for saving their documents on their own flash drives,

any information saved or installed on the systems hard drive will be deleted once the Computer is rebooted (restarted).

4. Altering, deleting configuration settings of any computer laboratory equipment are strictly prohibited. Installing, updating or downloading any software as well.

5. Users are not allowed also to attach personal devices in any computer laboratory’s network without permission from the instructor/IT Department.

6. Accessing unsafe sites is strictly prohibited.7. Playing games are not allowed inside the computer laboratory, this includes

video games, card games and other games. However, in cases of the topic is related to games the instructor must inform the IT personnel on duty.

8. Proper computer laboratory etiquette must be observed;a) Ensure that no trash is left behind.b) Turn-off computer units and arrange the computer peripherals (mouse,

keyboard and headset) after use.c) Chairs must be returned properly to its original placesd) Orderly dismissal must be observed by the instructor and the class.

ADMISSIONS 1. Selection for all programs offered at the center, an applicant will be selected

taking into account the following qualifications or skills level where applicable:a) Previously achieved qualificationb) Work or non-academic experiencesc) Academic/Professional referencesd) Related written work or portfolioe) Interview Results andf) English Language proficiency

2. Enquiries and application process will be handled by NGN reception staffs.3. All application forms should be accompanied by necessary documents, and

submitted to the Program Leader for assessment, followed by approval of successful applicants.

4. All successful applicants will be contacted by the reception staff and providing them with registration guidelines.

EXAMINATION

1. Learners are required to be available to undertake examinations throughout the periods designated for examinations. including supplementary examinations and deferred examinations as published or announced.

2. Learners are expected to be present for all examinations Learners take responsibility for informing their trainers if they are will not be able to undertake an examination for acceptable verifiable reasons and provide evidence for such.All absences require appropriate documentation and course coordinator approval. a. Learners missing an examination due to an EXCUSED absence will be

permitted to take a make-up examination timed at the discretion of the Course Coordinator / Trainer.

b. Learners missing an internally developed examination due to an UNEXCUSED absence may be granted the privilege of taking a make-up examination; however, the student will receive a penalty to their exam score

c. Actions to be taken for missing an examination developed and provided by an external body shall be covered by regulations of said external body.

d. In any case where a delayed or makeup examination is necessary, a comparable but different examination may be given. Trainers may assess in a different format from the original exam (e.g. multiple choice may be replaced with essay questions).

3. Learners are responsible for bringing all required examination material including materials needed for open-book examinations. There shall be no borrowing of such during the exam itself.

4. Technology Requirements a. Learners are responsible for bringing a computing device and accessories

that meet the specifications outlined in the examination brief (when applicable)

b. For online examinations, learners should be familiar with their computing device, testing software, and instructions prior to downloading an examination.

5. Learners must be on time for examinations. Students arriving more than 15 minutes late, without proper justification, will be subject to penalty.

HEALTH AND SAFETY

NGN trainees must follow the health and safety rules of the center whenever they are with the premises of NGN.

Participation of fire safety drills, reporting health and safety issues or incident and cooperate in maintaining the centers facilities by using them as recommended.

LEARNING RESOURCES POLICY

Learners will be provided with resources necessary to complete a training program, learners are expected to:1. Take responsibility for the usage of all learning resources. Any damage to

these shall either be paid for or replaced.2. All learners are to inform their trainers if they encounter faulty equipment or

related learning resources.

PLAGIARISM POLICY

NGN is committed to promoting academic integrity practices across its learning community. The center promotes honesty in learning and assessment and respect for the work of others.

Learners are expected to:1. Understand and comply with the legislation, policy and procedures of NGN

concerning plagiarism.2. Submit only work which properly acknowledges the ideas, designs, words or

works of others and which is otherwise their own original work and ensure that all sources of information are appropriately acknowledged / referenced

3. Act in accordance with the principles of academic integrity in their learning and research;

4. Take all reasonable precautions to ensure that academic work cannot be copied by avoiding lending or otherwise providing assessment items, directly or indirectly, to other learners where it could be reasonably foreseen by others that their work could be used dishonestly

5. Be aware of the collective responsibility of proper acknowledgement within group assignments, and be able to substantiate their claims to authorship in a group assignment

6. Acknowledge that a copy of an item submitted for assessment may be shared with other staff members for the purpose of assessment or submitted to an anti-plagiarism software for originality checking.

7. Corresponding investigation and penalty will be given if a plagiarism is suspected.

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING (RPL) POLICY

A learner registered in a whole course may be qualified for RPL. Application may be done by the learner to be entitled to any of the following:1. RPL for Admission: this is for a candidate who does not qualify for admission

into a programme / qualification via the ordinary admission requirements of an institution.

2. RPL for Advancement: exemption from certain modules of a course of study on the basis of the candidate’s experience / learning acquired prior to applying for RPL.

3. RPL for Credit: granting credit for a module of a course of study on the basis ofexperience gained or learning acquired before applying for RPL.

4. RPEL (Recognition of Prior Experiential Learning): a process through which learning achieved outside education or training systems is assessed and, as appropriate, recognised for academic purposes, usually through the award of credit

5. RPCL (Recognition of Prior Certificated Learning): a process, through which prior certificated learning which has not previously resulted in the award of university credits or qualifications positioned on the relevant qualifications framework is assessed and recognised by NGN for academic purposes, usually through the award of credit. Prior Certificated Learning may include professional development or employment-related awards.

TEACHING AND LEARNING

NGN commits to providing learners with innovative, supportive and engaging learning environment, in order to succeed on this learners need to participate by doing the following:1. Attending scheduled classes on time, arrive prepared to learn2. Informing trainers of absences in advance and be proactive in catching up on

missed work. 3. Utilizing online resources provided by NGN and partner institutions (if

appropriate).4. Reading and referring to course documentation to ensure understanding of

delivery and assessment methods.5. Showing respect to others and being conscious of equality, diversity and

inclusion. 6. Providing feedback on all aspects of learning and teaching learning on the

course.

ACADEMIC APPEALS POLICY

An academic appeal is a request for a review of a decision of an academic body charged with making decisions on trainee progress, assessment and awards. Learners are given a chance to appeal any decision relating to their training process while at the center. To be able to resolve any issue the learner is expected to;

a) Resolve any pertinent issue with the concerned trainer through a dialogue.b) If the trainee is not satisfied with the outcome of the dialogue and there

exists strong evidence of the conditions set to claim an academic appeal, the trainee fills out an academic appeal request form which is obtained from the reception.

c) The appeal request form shall be submitted together with all the pertinent documentation and evidences to the Registrar and Training ProgrammesOfficer within 30 days of the occurrence of the issue.

d) The appeals case shall be perused through by the Programme Appeals to review all submitted documents, require the submission of additional evidences as well as interview the individuals involved, namely the trainee and the trainer.

e) The trainee shall be notified in writing as to the outcome of that investigation within 15 working days from the date of acknowledgement.

COMPLAINTS POLICY

NGN ensures that any problem can be raised, investigated and resolved courteously and as quickly as possible in the interests of all concerned. Learners can file a complaint on issues relating to the training process and services they receive. The center will ensure that:1. The complaint issue shall be handled in all confidentiality.2. Each party involved in the case shall be given equal opportunity to present

their case and treated fairly without bias or pre-judgement. 3. The Training Center will ensure to take steps to prevent complainants from

suffering any disadvantage as a result of lodging a complaint.4. The Committee members responsible for making decisions shall do so without

either perceived or actual conflicts of interest at all stages. 5. NGN will ensure that the appropriate action is taken and will use the process

to improve the trainee experience
