The May 2010 TRAZER 2 OS software release introduces a new interface to the most recent TRAZER 2 software. There is no change in the library of activities or in how they function. The change is in the navigation and in the presentation of data. We hope that your clients will find TRAZER even more valuable and easy to use, and that it will prove a more dynamic sales tool for your facility. NOTE: The ESC and ENTER buttons simplify navigation in this software version. To go back to the screen before, hit ESC. To begin any activity, hit ENTER. MAIN MENU PLAYER CONFIGURATION SCREEN

LOG IN/LOG OUT: To begin, click on the LOGIN button. The Client Log-In window will open (not shown). When your client attempts to log in with his old NAME and PASSWORD, the PLAYER CONFIGURATION screen will open. Your client will need to enter both first and last name, and select a unique password with a minimum of 6 characters (in a combination of letters and numbers; at least 1 letter and/or 1 number). “traq3d” will no longer work as a password. They may not use their name as a password. They will also need to fill in or correct the other data on the page. This screen is also available to the Administrator by navigating to CUSTOM/ADMIN, CLIENT MANAGEMENT, select CLIENT NAME, then EDIT. This only needs to be done once! CUSTOM/ADMIN will take you to the previous rev TRAZER MAIN MENU screen. The only difference is the contemporary graphics. The CUSTOM/ADMIN area functions exactly as it did in the last rev, with the exception of the LOG IN function, which has moved to the new MAIN MENU. For addition of new clients, see PLAYER CONFIGURATION SCREEN above and PAGE 22.

2. It’s All About the Data

Line Graphs:

One of the biggest changes in this TRAZER 2 software version is the powerful presentation of data. After each activity, a plethora of additional data is generated and made available through the report function, easily accessible from each module’s Main Screen.

At the completion of each activity, the date and performance is plotted on a line graph, comparing your stored data for each time you did the activity. For this particular activity, we are tracking SPEED VS CG and ACCELERATION VS DECELERATION.

This is the SPEED line. The blue star marks your best performance.

This is the Center of Gravity (CG ) line. Note that the “best” CG is consistent with the fastest SPEED.

Each date that you per-formed the activity is noted on the graph.

PAGE 5

This is the LINE GRAPH space; see page 7 for Bar Graph explanation.

This is the BAR GRAPH space; see page 7 for further explanation.

While the measurements we report differ with each category, TRAZER reports at least 2 inter-related measures at the completion of each DRILL. GRAPH 1: This is what you will see after the 1st time you play a DRILL; your performance will be marked with a star. In the ENDURANCE cate-gory, you can cursor with the arrow to compare SPEED VS HEART RATE or SPEED VS CG. GRAPH 2. The second time you play this activity, you will see the OVERALL SPEED for the first performance marked by a red line. Your current per-formance will overlay the red line marked by a green line. In this chart, the 1st 4 activities of the DRILL have been played; there are 2 more to go. GRAPH 3. The best activity for each DRILL will be marked by a star. Now, every time you play, your BEST AVERAGE “run” will be represented by the red line. Your current “run” will overlay in green.

Bar Graphs:

4.1 represents the over-all speed generated for the last of the 6 activities.

4.5 represents the BEST speed for these 6 activities, also marked by the blue star.

Now look below the line graph area, at the green and red bar graphs. The green graph shows your progress for the CURRENT DRILL. The red bar graph shows your stored information for the BEST performance from former sessions. GRAPH 1. This is what you will see after the 1st time you play a DRILL; your CUR-RENT results are displayed inside the bar graph. Your BEST results are noted by the blue # to the right of the graph. In the ENDURANCE category, you can cursor with the arrow to compare SPEED VS HEART RATE or SPEED VS CG. The first time you play an activity, your CURRENT and BEST results will be the same number. GRAPH 2. Each time you complete an activity in a DRILL, the SPEED for that activ-ity appears INSIDE green bar. The speed you worked at for your BEST recorded session appears inside the red bar. The fastest segment for both sessions is the blue number to the right of the bars. In the GRAPH 2, the fastest speed for the 4th activity is 6.8; it matches the speed of the 2nd activity, noted by the blue star and reported to the right of the bar. At the same 4th marker, the time for the old (red) performance was 6.7. GRAPH 3. The 6th and final activity of the new performance showed the best speed at 8.6; the best speed for the red run was 7.3, but on the last leg, you only hit 6.6.

Symbols and Measurements:

Blue Star: means BEST; this could refer to fastest speed, lowest CG stance; highest acceleration, fastest deceleration, and so on. Yellow Markers: denote AVERAGE SPEED (time divided by distance) and apply only to GAME activities. Yellow Star: yellow markers indicate that AVERAGING is taking place in the calculation. The star marks the BEST/FASTEST time . Markers: whether red, yellow or green, plot each data point.

A word about our measurement data: TRAZER activities include DRILLS, TESTS and GAMES. You will notice that SPEED reported for GAME activities will often be much slower than that reported for DRILLS and TESTS. The reason for this is that TRAZER’s GAME activities require strategic thinking, mul-tiple cues, random movements to set-up the opponent, and waiting periods for cues. Some of the games require more subtle movements, demanding reaction time, balance and visual perception, rather than all-out sprinting. Thus, there is a certain amount of “quiet time” during the games that does not exist during drills and tests. SPEED for GAMES is calculated by dividing the total time by the total distance travelled and should be considered an average, for performance tracking purposes only.

Because the groups of activities in each workout remain the same time after time, you will find that your ability to compare your performance from one time to the next is of value. The line graph charted here represents a blend of games and drills, with the games being represented by yellow markers; the drills by green markers. The next time it is played, this line graph will appear in red, and the new event will overlay it in green. In the bar graph, 2.1 represents the average speed of the last activity marked (the yellow marker indicates that it was a game, hence the averaging); 4.0 represents the BEST speed for the set (again, the yellow star indi-cates a game activity).

Score Cards:

3. It’s All About the Data

TRAZER divides its activities into 2 categories: individual ACTIVITIES, such as Lateral Drills or a single game of Trap Attack, and SCRIPTED ACTIVITIES (or “SAPs”). In order to view your reports, select either the ACTIVITIES or the SCRIPTED ACTIVITIES. This picture shows a list of SCRIPTED ACTIVITIES. Next, select the type of report you would like to view: SCORE CARD, PERFORMANCE REPORT, or TREND REPORT.

The Activity SCORE CARD give the most basic information. In this game of Goalie Wars, the activity lasted 39 seconds, 15 points were scored, the player played at an approximate 7” deep stance at Level 5, and travelled 79 feet.

PAGE 10

Page 11: TRAZER Software Navigation Guide

Performance Analysis Reports:

2. It’s All About the Data

In this TRAZER 2 software version, the Performance Analysis Re-port (“PAR”) has been simplified. It shows data for N/S/E and W averages. As in our earlier versions, REACTION TIME is only avail-able if the PAUSE function was activated for a minimum 1 sec-ond pause, and if the activity demanded RANDOM movement cues. For example, LATERALS do not report REACTION time as those movements are pre-planned.

Performance Analysis Reports are available at 2 levels in Scripted Activities. By selecting the activity and a single date, you will receive a PAR averaging your performance over the entire series. In this case, you would see your average performance for 3 sets of the Mini-T Drill. If you wish to see the performance report for each of the three sets, you would select each set and the corresponding date.

PAGE 11

Page 12: TRAZER Software Navigation Guide

Trend Reports:

2. It’s All About the Data

Rules for accessing TREND REPORTS are much the same as those for accessing PERFORMANCE REPORTS. You can see the TREND REPORT for the entire scripted activity by se-lecting the “SAP PLAYED” and multiple “PLAY TIMES.” If you wish to see the report for a single segment of a scripted activ-ity, when you select the activity, you will see the list of what the script consists of in the center column. Now hit TREND REPORT, select the activity you wish to examine, and the dates you wish to compare. Keep in mind that all graphs do not apply to every activity.

TRENDS THAT WE GRAPH FOR YOU: TRAZER graphically displays changes in your performance, and you can access it anytime. These are the charts we provide—please note that all charts do not apply to all activities. For example, if you are looking at LATERALS, the LINEAR charts will not apply.

SPORTS PERFORMANCE, REHABILITATION AND FITNESS are new activity modules. In each of these modules, there are 5 distinct categories and a REPORT button that takes the logged-in client to his/her own REPORT DATA. (See Chapter 2). The SPORTS PERFORMANCE MODULE consists of: Linear, Lateral, Vertical, Agility and Endurance categories. Each of these 5 cate-gories consists of 6 pre-planned workouts, titled DRILL 1 thru DRILL 6. DRILL 1 in each SPORTS PERFORMANCE category is considered the TEST. When you enter a category, for example, LATERALS, graphs showing your best performance for the DRILL 1 TEST will appear. You can then press the SELECT button to choose which DRILL you wish to do. If you select the DRILL 1 TEST, you will get a Performance Analysis Report automatically at the end. To see the line graphs generated for that activity for SPEED VS CG and ACCEL VS DECEL, hit the ESC key and the scroll buttons. DRILLS 2 through 6 offer specialized activities to train and enhance global performance.

3. Program Modules

SPORTS PERFORMANCE MODULE

PAGE 14

Page 15: TRAZER Software Navigation Guide

There is also an optional WARM-UP button. If you select the greyed out WARM-UP, it will turn blue. Then select a DRILL, and hit START or the ENTER button, and the workout will automatically take you through the WARM-UP first and then go directly into the selected DRILL. To skip the WARM-UP, simply select a DRILL, then START or ENTER. Once again, in the SPORTS PERFORMANCE activity module, DRILL 1 is the TEST; DRILLS 2 through 6 are designed to train and en-hance movement skill based performance in the selected category.

3. Program Modules

When you enter the category of interest (LATERALS here), the best DRILL 1 graph will appear, comparing SPEED VS CG. If you hit either arrow adja-cent to the graph, it will scroll to a graph comparing ACCELERATION VS DECELERATION. Hit the SELECT button to choose your next activity.

After hitting the SELECT button, decide first whether to do the WARM-UP activity. If you select WARM-UP, the button will turn BLUE. Then select the DRILL you would like to follow with. When you hit either START or the ENTER button, the Warm-Up will automatically begin, then the DRILL.

SPORTS PERFORMANCE: Selecting Your Activity

PAGE 15

Page 16: TRAZER Software Navigation Guide

3. Program Modules

In addition to the Performance Analysis Report, 2 other graphs are available at the activity screen; a LINE GRAPH and a BAR GRAPH. (see pages 5, 6 and 7). If you hit the space bar or ESC while at the Performance Analysis Report screen, you will get both line and bar graphs for Speed vs Center of Gravity (CG), and for Acceleration vs Deceleration. The first time the client runs a DRILL 1 activity, a blue STAR appears on the line graph showing his performance, and his perform-ance is charted on a bar graph below. The numbers to the right of the bar graph reflect his BEST EVER performance for DRILL 1 for this specific skill. Each successive time DRILL 1 is run, the line graph will plot the new performance results. The BEST performance within that activity is represented by a STAR on the line graph, so you may have 10 points plotted, representing 10 times played. The best of those will be represented by a STAR. If the new performance is the BEST performance in each reported movement parameter, those are the only numbers you will see on the bar graph and the numbers to the right. If, however, the last performance was not as good as the BEST performance, you will see the BEST number to the right of the graph, and the last performance inside the bar graph will be a lower number. DRILLS 2 – 6 in each of the Sports Performance categories are intended to train and teach the movement skill of interest. They combine a series of activities in a string to build reaction time, first step quickness, cutting power, strength, endurance and stance. These activities display one of 2 line-graphs at their conclusion. You can scroll back and forth between graphs by hitting the arrows adjacent to them. If you wish to see a PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS REPORT, simply hit the space bar. Many more graphs, charting multiple comparisons of data and performance characteristics, can be found in the REPORTS area.

REHABILITATION RETURNING TO PLAY WITH TRAZER 2 – An Overview

TRAZER may be reimbursable under various CPT codes and has been used successfully by numerous hospitals and physical therapy clinics for several years. The newly introduced TRAZER 2 includes graphing capability and trend reporting formerly unavailable that will further improve documentation of client progression. TRAZER 2 includes Rehabilitation Protocols for KNEE, ANKLE, HIP, VESTIBULAR and BALANCE, and also for KNEE INJURY PREVEN-TION. Each of the six categories includes six (6) levels of difficulty, ranging from immediately post operative to return to play. TRAZER’s accurate tracking of core movement allows even discreet movements to be tracked and measured, thus subtle shifting of the hips from side-to-side, or toe raises can be integrated into the protocols. Because each TRAZER DRILL can be customized, the same movement can require a 1” range, or an 18” range. DRILLS can also be programmed to be executed with all movements “grouped” in a single direction, with multiple directions performed “sequentially,” or “randomized.”

FITNESS In this category, each of the activities speaks to the needs of those interested in general fitness and weight loss. There are pre-planned workouts under the categories of STRENGTH, CORE, CALORIE BURN, BALANCE, and MIND BODY. The STRENGTH category provides six different 20 – 30 minute cross-training workouts.

DRILL 1 combines resistive strength work, using the PowerTRAQ band system, with TRAZER. DRILLS 2 and 3 integrate traditional strength training, core exercises and TRAZER cardio work. DRILLS 4, 5 and 6 integrate traditional strength training with TRAZER cardio work.

In the CORE category, there are six different 10 – 15 minute core training workouts.

DRILLS 1, 2 and 3 combine resistive strength work with dumbbells and standing balance to fire the core muscles . DRILLS 4, 5 and 6 use dumbbells, weighted balls, weighted bars and/or resistive bands in combination with lunges, squats and

other core exercises to make TRAZER an integral part of your core training.

FITNESS

PAGE 19

Page 20: TRAZER Software Navigation Guide

The CALORIE BURN category combines TRAZER cardio work with resistive bands to burn calories in six varied 20 minute workouts. If you wear a Polar compatible chest strap while playing TRAZER, your heart rate will be displayed in real time during the activity. The max rate and average rate will also be a part of your final report. An ideal training range for heart health is 220 minus your age, times 60 – 80%. Check with your physician to ensure that you can tolerate this level of training. The addition of the PowerTRAQ resistive strength bands increases the number of the calories you would have burned while playing “free” by the percentages noted in the chart above.

PAGE 20

Page 21: TRAZER Software Navigation Guide

The MIND BODY category includes six 15 – 20 minute linked activities that focus on recognition/cognition, working memory, strategy, spatial physics, depth perception and visual acuity, and the like. The drills are designed to blend high and low amplitude activities. DRILL 6 in this set incorporates the upper body resistive strength bands for cross lateral work.

3. Program Modules

In the BALANCE category, the same basic 10 minute DRILL is repeated for all 6 DRILLS, at gradually increasing levels of inten-sity. Left and Right side balance and Vertical control are chal-lenged as you lunge out or toe raise or squat and hold your posi-tion. This is a low amplitude category that will build strength and focus for the client.

CUSTOM/ADMIN From the new MAIN MENU, you can access the previous version of TRAZER 2 software by selecting the CUSTOM/ADMIN button. All functionality in this area remains the same, with the exception of LOG IN and LOG OUT, which must be done at the new MAIN MENU.

3. Program Modules

CLIENTS have access to all the same functions that they had under the last software version; all your facility SAPs will be available in the same catego-ries that you had filed them in previously.

All ADMINISTRATIVE functions remain accessible through this screen, however the LOGIN function has been moved to the first level MAIN MENU screen.

CUSTOM/ADMIN

PAGE 22

Administrative functions for a TRAZER 2 that is linked to a central server and an Administrative computer are initiated at the Admin computer and completed at the TRAZER site. For example, a new client is created at the Admin computer, but his TRAZER password and vital statistics are entered directly on TRAZER. If your TRAZER is “Stand-Alone,” that is, not linked to an administrative computer, all Client Management data is entered by the Administrator in the Custom/Admin area. (see PAGE 3.)
