Dear Parents,
I hope that all families enjoyed a relaxing long weekend and that the children have taken the opportunity to rest up before we commence the busy run to the end of the school year.
Congratulations to our Year Four Hooptime students Matilda, Nathalya, Emilia, Cameron, Seth, Joshua, Corey, Ryan and Dawson who won their regional competition last week. They will now go on to compete at State level.
Tonight at 7pm we will welcome the families of our 2017 Foundation students at our Information Night. The night will be held in the Marian Building. Again I stress to all families that we are under enrolment pressure, if you know that your circumstances are changing for next year could please let the Office know asap.
This Friday is Grandparents Day, a genuine highlight of our year. The day commences with a liturgy in the Readman Hall at 9.00am followed by classroom visits and then morning tea back in the hall at 11.00am. If your child does not have a grandparent that can attend they are welcome to bring a special friend. We ask that all families please donate a plate of food on Friday for our shared morning tea.
The Education Board met last Thursday and fees were decided upon for the 2017 school year. I have attached a note that outlines 2017 fees and starting dates, also attached are the nomination forms for next year’s Education Board. A major change for the school over the upcoming years that we discussed at the Board meeting is that as part of the new Victorian Curriculum schools are mandated to provide a swimming program for students. The desired outcome is to achieve the Victoria Water Safety Certificate to align with the new Government initiatives. At present the following structure is proposed for Trinity;
Foundation – Water Awareness (one day session as they participate in now).
Grade One – Water Awareness (one day session).
Grade Two – Ten swimming lessons over a two-week period.
Grade Three – Classroom based water safety knowledge; rips, beach safety, river awareness, inland waterways etc.
Grade Four – Ten swimming lessons over a two-week period.
Grade Five - Classroom based water safety knowledge; rips, beach safety, river awareness, inland waterways etc.
Grade Six - Ten swimming lessons over a two-week period.
The cost of the swimming program will be included in the 2017 curriculum levy and this includes all bus travel. The school is heavily subsidising the cost to limit the impact to parents.

ALL SOULS DAY Wednesday 2nd November
Today we remember in a special way those who have died. We believe that all who have died in Jesus will rise again with him. For in Jesus, we are all made alive. In remembering the souls who have died, we remember that, if we follow Jesus, we too shall join him in eternal life.
Loving God, your son Jesus promised us eternal life. Let us now pray for ourselves and those who have died.
We pray for all those who have died, especially …………… Lord, hear us.
All: Lord, hear our prayer.
We pray that we may remember those who have died and keep them in our hearts. Lord, hear
us.
All: Lord, hear our prayer.
We ask that you forgive the wrong things that we have done, and help us to stay close to you.
Lord, hear us.
All: Lord, hear our prayer.
We pray that we may one day share the joys and blessings of eternal life with God. Lord, hear
us.
All: Lord, hear our prayer.
God of love, hear our prayers and help us to always follow the example of Jesus. We ask this
through Christ our Lord.
All: Amen.

Trinity has zero tolerance towards child abuse and is therefore committed to complying with the Victorian Child Safe Standards and Ministerial Order 870. All parents/Guardians wishing to help in the classroom, canteen or attend excursions MUST have completed the PARENT HELPER WORKSHOP and hold a current WORKING WITH CHILDREN CARD.
Further details are available from the school office. All parent/guardian helpers must sign in at the office before proceeding to the classrooms. Your current Working with Children card must be displayed at all times when working in the classrooms and attending excursions.
A reminder to all Parents/Carers, supervision by School Staff begins at 8.30am before school and after school only at the drop
off area until 3.30pm.
Please observe and supervise your children, as they play on the equipment.
Thank you for your co-operation
TRINITY CAR PARK ETIQUETTE For greater safety and visibility, we are requesting that all
drivers reverse park into the marked bays.
Thank you all who use the pedestrian crossing area. You are demonstrating to your children correct road safety practices. Once children cross the pedestrian crossing into the parking area, they, for their safety, need to be placed into vehicles promptly. The car park is NOT a meeting area.
The lane around the edge of the car park (closest to the oval) are for vehicles waiting to pick children up from the Pick-up Zone ONLY.
The two parking bays closest to the office path are the PICK-UP ZONES. These are NO STANDING zones. I f your children are not ready to get into your car as you pull up to the pick-up zone, you must continue on and rejoin the end of the pick-up queue.
There is NO RIGHT TURN when exiting the car park. All vehicles must turn left for the safety of others and to maintain traffic flow.
THE GATES CLOSE AT 9.00am AND RE-OPEN AT 3.00pm. Occasionally they might re-open slightly later due to school activities.
Thank you for your patience and consideration of others.

PARISH FUNDRAISING EVENT OLHC NEW YEARS EVE PARTY 2016 - After a 3 year absence, we are once again looking to have a gathering of parishioners and friends to help bring in 2017 in a true OLHC fashion keeping with the theme "Many Cultures, One Parish!" We would love to have your company on 31st December to socialise and join us in the celebrations. Please keep the date free. Raffles and prizes with a live band and DJ to keep us entertained through the evening. Tickets and further details to follow very soon. The parish is also looking for volunteers to help run this event, prior to and on the night of the function. If you can help, please contact either the parish office on 97047935, or call Gillian on 0413011879.
CARING AND HOSPITALITY OUTREACH - In my home visits to the senior members of our community I have regularly experienced situations where a community member is healthy, but is unable to drive to mass, perhaps because they were reliant on a spouse who has died, or never had a licence, or have lost their licence, or just no longer feel confident enough to drive. Well how should our church respond to this need? Are you in a position to bring someone who lives close to you to mass? If you come to different mass times or are concerned about holidays, or times when you are unavailable, don’t worry, in my experience most people are very flexible. This is a mutual arrangement between you and the individual concerned, to participate all you need to do is to place your name, address, contact and normal mass time on the clip board at the welcome desk at the back of the church, we will put you in touch with a person who needs transport as the occasion arises, if you begin and at some stage can no longer do it, that’s okay, you can stop, with no questions asked! . Deacon Peter.
