This time of year, I always find time to take stock and truly appreciate the many blessings in life. The beautiful autumn weather inspires me to slow down and enjoy time outdoors with my family. The canned food drives always reminds me how very fortunate I am to be able to give back to the people in my community. A big thank you to all of the parents who participated in these exciting programs and helped to enrich their child’s learning this fall.

The Scholastic Book Fair was a great success. We sold a large number of books to our students, their siblings,

FROM THE DIRECTOR’S DESK continued…

There will be no morning or Extended Day care on Chapel kday. Our school will be closed for the Thanksgiving

holiday immediately following the chapel service and will reopen on Monday, November 28th.

We are continuing to collect canned food items in the school lobby for Paul’s Place through December 6

th. Stay

tuned for more information on how to bring joy to others this holiday season. We are still carefully planning the perfect outreach opportunity for our Angels. In addition to our Holiday Outreach, we will once again set up our Hat, Mitten, and Sock Tree in the school lobby. All items on the tree will go to Paul’s Place. All donations need to be in school by Friday, December 9

th. Thank you in advance for your generosity.

As the layers of clothes get thicker and the pink faces return, so does the dreaded cold and flu season. It is

important to know the signs and symptoms of the flu: fever (100 degrees F), cough, sore throat, a runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache, and feeling tired in general. Some people may vomit or have upset stomach. If your child exhibits any of the above symptoms, please consult your child’s physician. The children are reminded to cover their coughs and wash hands throughout the day, but inevitably some of those sick germs can sneak by. For your child’s sake and that of the other children, please be sure that your child is fever free for at least 24 hours before sending him/her back to school.

As we approach this hectic time of year, I encourage you to take time to acknowledge all those things for which

you are truly thankful. Your sweet children give all of us here at Trinity many reasons to feel grateful. I would like to wish each and every one of you a Happy and Healthy Thanksgiving.

All the Best,

FROM OUR RECTOR:

Thanksgiving has long been one of my favorite holidays.

Maybe it ’ s my southern roots, but family and friends gathered together

to share good food and conversation is pretty close to my idea of heaven.

Without the stress of giving and receiving gifts, we are free to enjoy one

another ’ s company. When everyone brings something, we share the work

of making the event happen. Even if the men wind up watching ball games on TV and the women chat together in the

kitchen as they do dishes ( s orry, but the stereotypes still hold in my family ) , we all experience the shared community.

Perhaps that ’ s what makes Thanksgiving Day special, it allows us to focus on what really matters in life –

our relationships with one another. This Thanksgiving, take time to be thankful for the food you are about to eat and the

hands that prepared it. But more importantly, give thanks to God for family and friends, for the relationships that make

life worth living. And join me in claiming Thanksgiving as your favorite holiday.

THANKSGIVING CHAPEL DONATIONS It is our tradition for the children to present a Thanksgiving food offering at their chapel service. As the classes enter the church, the children will walk to the altar to place their donated food item. The dona-tions will be sent to Paul’s Place, an outreach mission of Trinity Church, and used to fill holiday baskets for those in need. Your food donation may be brought to your child’s classroom ahead of time or with them the day of chapel.

Music Notes November 2016

All the classes have learned Halloween songs about pumpkins, Jack-O-Lanterns, haunted houses, ghosts, goblins, bats, cats,

scarecrows, and witches. We learned a Halloween Dance, did the “Hooky Spooky” with orange and black ribbons, and played a

freeze march game to the music, “Halloween on Parade”. During the month, we’ve been practicing ensemble skills by starting and

stopping at the same time and by saying a phrase or word, such as “scat” or “boo”, at exactly the same time as the rest of the

group! For preschool children, this can be quite a challenge, but it is an essential skill for further musical instruction and a skill

that helps develop impulse control. I tell the children, when we are all together it sounds like music instead of noise!

I read the book, Franklin’s Music Lessons, to the three’s classes, and we practiced singing and playing rhythm instruments.

Just like Franklin’s class, we sang and played “Row, Row, Row Your Boat” and practiced starting and stopping at the exact same

time. We also added a second verse about a submarine!

Both four’s classes sang the song, “Halloween”, and learned to tap rhythm sticks only on the syllables of the word “Halloween.

(The sticks are used to make the sound of rattling skeleton bones!) They also learned a poem, “Ghost Paul”, about an invisible

ghost, and then, we turned it into a Rap with body percussion.

In November, we’ll learn seasonal songs and work with rhythm patterns and musical expression using our very special Indian

Drum. We will continue to practice songs for Thanksgiving Chapel - schedule below - and begin working on songs for Christmas

Chapel. (Please note: Christmas Chapel schedule will be different.)

Movement class is on Friday, and this is a reminder to please dress your children in appropriate clothing with appropriate

footwear. If you have any questions or suggestions, please let me know.

** Special notes about Thanksgiving Chapel**

1) If you have children in classes scheduled for different Chapel times, you are welcome to attend both services, but you may

attend either time. Teachers will only be attending at their scheduled times, so your child would sit with a different teacher/class

or with you.

2) All children will be sitting in Chapel with their teachers and classmates just as they do every Wednesday. Parents - please take

your child to the classroom and then go to church to find a seat. Seats for the classes will be reserved.

3) As the classes enter church, the children will walk to the altar to place their donated food item.

4) I will invite the three-year-olds to come to the front of the church to sing several songs. Children who are hesitant or

uncomfortable with that will just stay in the pews with their teachers. Please do not insist that your child “perform” in front of a

group! There will be plenty of opportunities for that later when the child feels more self-confident and will enjoy singing for you.

Musically,

Ms. Sue

PARENTS’ CLUB NEWS

Happy Fall!!! The school year seems to be flying away with the leaves!! It has been a busy year already! Thank you to

everyone for supporting Trinity…no matter how small your contribution! Everything helps!!!!

Pizza and other goodies from Joe Corbi’s will be arriving for pick-up on Monday, November 14 (tentatively) upstairs in the

Parish Hall at dismissal. We had another successful fundraiser this fall! Thank you to Marisa Kleinschmidt for organizing

(again!)!!!! If anyone is interested in organizing this event next year, please let us know! Marisa says it’s not a hard event to

organize :0)

The excitement about the Scholastic Book Fair was contagious as our Trinity Angels arrived each morning to see the school

halls filled with books. Thank you to everyone who bought books or helped sell the books each morning and afternoon. The

Parents’ Club raised just over a $1000 to be used to buy books or other educational items for our library and classrooms!

Thank you to Elizabeth McCarthy for organizing (again!)!!!! We also need someone to take over organizing this event next

year.

The Fall Harvest Party and Chili Cook-off was a fantastic evening with beautiful weather. There were about 200 people who

attended the event and the Parents’ Club raised close to $2000 thanks to the generosity of our Trinity families! The band,

Stonehaven Road, entertained us while the children played on the playground and had their faces painted and the adults

socialized! The food was delicious and there were about 20 amazing tasting chili recipes. There were many people who made

this event a success! Thank you to the Dads’ Club for cleaning up the grounds, hanging the lights, and putting up the tent

(among other things)!!! Shawn McClure organized the food and Jennifer Runde decorated the grounds. Thanks to both of you

for everything you did!!! A big thank you to all of the parents who helped set up, run, and break-down the event. Your time

and energy are very much appreciated!!! While this was a Parents’ Club event, Chrissy and Laura in the office were a

tremendous help and did everything to organize the ticket sales and chili cook-off! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!!!

We can’t forget the *Winners* of the Chili Cook-off: Spiciest: Spicy Bacon Chili, Chef Chris Voxakis; Most Creative: White

Chicken Chili, Chef Kira Gainey; Vegetarian: The More You Eat…, Chef Jason Dickey; BEST OVERALL: Baltimore’s Best

Bison Chili, Chef Ann Levinstim. Congratulations to all of our winners and thank you to everyone who participated!
