God Seeks UsGod never abandons us,
but we can elect to turnaway from Him. In spiteof the good things andmiracles Jesus did onearth, many rejected Him. They cried, “Crucify Him! Crucify Him!” (Luke23:21). We are appalled. “How could they?” wethink, but, whenever werefuse to deny ourselvesand follow Him, we rejectthe Savior as well. Whenour focus is on ourselves,we push God out of ourlives. “Thanks be to Godfor His indescribablegift!” (2 Corinthians 9:15),our Good Shepherd Whocomes looking for His lostand erring sheep (John10:14-16).
Blessed to Bea Blessing
A young man acceptedfor the African missionaryfield reported at New Yorkfor passage, but found onfurther examination thathis wife could not standthe climate. He washeartbroken, but heprayerfully returned to hishome and determined tomake all the money hecould to be used inspreading the kingdom ofGod over the world. Hisfather, a dentist, hadstarted to make, on theside, an unfermented winefor the communion service.
The young man took thebusiness over anddeveloped it until it grewinto a major business. Theman’s name was “Welch,”whose family stillmanufactures grape juice. During his lifetime, hegave hundreds ofthousands of dollars to thework of missions.
Embracing God’sWord
Our attitudes, values, andworld view are beingshaped by those things towhich we choose to exposeour minds. We can beeasily influenced by mediasuch as radio, television, internet, Facebook, andmagazines. For non-Christians, these mediasources are primarysources shaping their worldview. However, forbelievers God’s Word isthe primary source. Scripture exposes ourminds to the foolishnessand evil of the world andthe truth of the ways ofGod. May we be like theBereans in Acts 17:11 who“received the messagewith great eagerness andexamined the Scripturesevery day…” Daily wecan rejoice and thank Godfor His Word, ourauthority.
