sYNoPsIsSpindlewood, like most towns of age, has its traditions. But no practice, custom, or Old Wives Warning is so firmly adhered to as ‘The Turning of the Key’. Every year, on the last night of winter, as the first day of spring unfolds, the townsfolk gather to take part in a strange ritual. They meet in the centre of the town square, where a statue bearing the likeness of a young girl stands, poised and still, one hand raised as if to toast the sky. Constance has stood in the square for as long as any can remember. And she is never more lifelike than tonight.

The Clockmaker’s Daughter was originally produced by Theatrica Limited at the Landor Theatre.

Daniel and Michael met during a workshop at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and soon after began writing musicals together...

After working together on Daniel’s first show riZen (with Tom Oakley), Webborn & Finn decided they would attempt to devise a piece of their own. Their first project was a collection of songs for a potential staging of the best selling novel The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. After issues came to light over the acquisition of rights, they decided that the best possible way forward would be the creation of a wholly original piece.

Their first full-length musical: The Clockmaker’s Daughter, first premiered at the Landor Theatre (Clapham) in 2015. The show went on to a sell out run, critical success and has, to date, been nominated for eleven awards. This summer it completed a further sell-out run at the Minack Theatre, Cornwall. Earlier this year, Michael and Dan marked the completion of their second musical, Animus commissioned by the Musical Theatre Academy.

Daniel’s credits include: riZen, The Clockmaker’s Daughter, Animus and The Year Before You. As well as a musical theatre writer, Daniel has had a vast career working as actor, broadcaster and aspiring novelist. As a writer, his projects include: Visillion, I, (as novels), Hidden in the Iyndaeg Tree (collection of short stories) and Why 13? (anthology of poems). He is also currently adapting The Clockmaker’s Daughter as a novel. He thinks it important to note that none of the works listed above are officially published. He is however, officially seeking representation.

Daniel also holds a BA (Hons) Acting from Birmingham School of Acting and also spent 4 years presenting theInternational Federation of Sports Climbing’s (IFSC’s) World Cups across the globe, working in cooperation with: 247.TV, Eurosport, Sky Sports, Premier Sports and Red Bull TV. Daniel also acted as director on the original concept albums for both riZen and The Night Circus.

Michael originally trained at Trinity Laban on the Vocal Studies course before attending the Royal Conservatoire of Music to gain his MA in Musical Direction.

Michael continues to work around the world as a Musical Director, Accompanist and Arranger. As Musical Director his shows have included Animus (World Premiere) Bridewell Theatre, The Clockmaker’s Daughter (World Premiere), Damn Yankees, Meet Me in St. Louis (UK Premiere), [title of show] (London Premiere), Next Thing You Know, Hot Mikado and Curtains (European Premiere) (Landor Theatre), Willy Wonka (DUCTAC Theatre, Dubai), Peter Pan (International Tour), Beauty and the Beast (International Tour), A Midsummer Night’s Dream (International Tour), Aladdin (International Tour), Macbeth (International Tour), Pinocchio (International Tour), The Tempest (International Tour), The Little Mermaid (International Tour) (S4K International), Aladdin (Harlequin Theatre, Redhill), Spring Awakening (Catford Broadway), Jack and the Beanstalk (Perth Theatre), Elegies for Angels, Punks and Raging Queens (Tron Theatre, Glasgow). Michael also has acted as Assistant Musical Director on Blood Brothers (UK, No. 1 Tour).

amY YarDleY –set and costume designer

Amy works across the spectrum of theatre practice as a Set and Costume Designer for large and small scale productions, creative learning projects, tours, site specific and open air theatre. She trained in Design at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and studied Theatre at Leeds University.

Design work includes: Queen’s Hornchurch, Southampton Nuffield, Colchester Mercury, Hull Truck, Creation, Red Ladder, Headlong, Foursight, Arcola, The Yard, Tangle, Townsend Productions, Talawa, Floods of Ink, Half Moon, The Point, Stuff and Nonsense, Theatre Temoin, Tamasha and Birmingham Rep. Amy is currently designing Shirley Valentine for a major UK tour in 2017.

She was nominated for an off west end award for I am a Camera at the Rosemary Branch and Little Red Riding Hood at artsdepot. Her Arcola show Around the World in 80 Days is currently playing at the Talimhane Tiyatrosu Theatre in Istanbul.

Amy works as a designer/tutor with various youth theatres and drama schools and is a Design lecturer at The London College of Music. She also spent a year as a Drama Teacher and Design Specialist at an International School in Thailand.

Periodically, Amy also leads development projects in East Africa working with displaced communities.

CrIsTIaNo CasImIro – costume supervisor

Born in Portugal, Cristiano Casimiro graduated in Fashion Design at the Architecture University in Lisbon in 2008.

After graduating he started designing costumes for a TV Series in Plural Entertainment Portugal. He was the Costume Designer of the production until the end of the series in 2012. During this four years he also freelanced, designing costumes for musicians, advertisement and independent film makers.

Having enjoyed that role in TV Production he moved to the UK in 2013 to further his experience and professional growth.

He presently is based in Unicorn Theatre in London Bridge and his credits include ENB Choreographics, Unicorn Theatre, Trinity Laban, Aine Flanagan Productions and several films in collaboration with London Film School.

Jenny was nominated for an Olivier Award and What’s On Stage Award for her choreography for Jerry Springer the Opera (Royal National Theatre, West End, National Tour and Sydney Opera House).

Films include: Nativity starring Martin Freeman and Ashley Jensen, Confetti and Vagabond Shoes, a short film staring Iain Glenn which was nominated for a Scottish BAFTA. TV credits include: Marie Lloyd and Fanny Hill (BBC4), Al Murray’s Happy Hour (ITV1), Kombat Opera (BBC2).
