Music Ministry Sunday and Organ Fund
Plaque Dedication April 30
On Sunday, April 30 at 11:00 worship, we will both
celebrate Trinity’s Music Ministry and dedicate our organ
fund recognition plaque hanging in the narthex. Our spiritual life is enriched weekly
by our choirs and by our new organ’s majestic sounds. Please join us to hear special
music by Trinity’s many choirs and thank them for sharing their time and talents with
us in worship. We especially invite people who donated to the organ fund to attend as
we dedicate the plaque and offer thanks to all who generously shared gifts.
Noonday Recitals Begin May 3
Join us these Wednesdays in May at 12:05 pm in the Hintz
Room or the nave for inspiring music followed by
refreshments and conversation with the artists. Free-will
offering; free parking in the Trinity lot. Our May 3 artist is
Trinity’s own Karen S. Eddinger, organ, performing in the nave. After being called as
Trinity's Minster of Music, Karen Eddinger decided, after a more than twenty-five year
hiatus, to resume organ studies. Encouraged by her teacher, Karen presents her first
ever solo organ recital.
Concert: Rachmaninoff’s All Night Vigil
Today, 4:00 pm at Sacred Heart Church, West Reading
Several Trinity members are singers in today’s concert. This
exquisite piece of deeply spiritual music will be sung in Church
Slavonic with printed English translation. Tickets: $20 at the
door. It is a great way to celebrate the Easter season!

Tell Us about Your Events and Accomplishments
Are you singing in a concert or performing in theater? Are you team
MVP or Volunteer of the Year? We want to feature periodically in the
newsletter notices about members’ upcoming concerts or performances,
sports accomplishments, or awards. This time of year, we are especially
interested in graduation news. Please send us your graduation notices by May 21 so
that we can include them in the June newsletter. Please email Rachel at
[email protected] or put a note in her staff mailbox.
Trinity TV Spotlights Our Music Ministry
Our new fun and delightful program features musical
highlights with reflections by Karen Eddinger. She takes us on
a journey that touches each of Trinity’s six choirs, including
children, adults, bells and recorders. Tune in on Sundays in
April at 6:30 pm on Comcast Channel 190 or on demand on our YouTube channel. You
can connect to Trinity’s YouTube channel by clicking on the link on our home page at
www.trinityreading.org.
Seeking Jazz Worship Band Sponsors
We are pleased to offer Jazz Worship at the 11:00 service on
May 21, featuring Lars Potteiger on piano, Robin Work on
vocals, and Tom Hilliker on bass for this creative approach to
worship. We are looking for a few donors to sponsor the cost
of the band ($800). If you can help, please mark your
envelope JAZZ and place it in the offering plate.

Ministry Spotlight: I CAN Group
More than ten years ago, the late Pastor David Kistler, Chaplain
at Hamburg State School, asked the late Pastor Jeanne Beadle,
pastor of Trinity Deaf, if Trinity would be interested in hosting
people with intellectual and physical disabilities one day a
month. Since Trinity was located in the city, it would be an
ideal location for a gathering of people.
Thus, I CAN was born. I CAN stands for Involved Consumer Action Network.
When it first began, the program attendance was approximately 10-15 people a month.
The day included Bible study, light lunch, and BINGO for prizes which consist of bath
soap, brushes and combs, toothpaste and toothbrushes, snacks, and many other items
which were practical.
Over the ten years, the attendance is now approximately 65-75 people every month. We
continue the same format. Bible study is held from 11:30 am to 12:25 pm. We have a
cooked luncheon meal consisting of meat, vegetables, and dessert. After the meal, we
play BINGO for the prizes mentioned above.
These monthly gatherings are offered free of charge to the participants. The program is
subsidized with funds from the Greater Reading Mental Health Alliance. The day ends
around 2:30 pm. I CAN meets the first Saturday of the month from October to May.

Good News on the Kitchen!
Last Fall, Trinity’s kitchen failed to meet current fire codes
due to inadequate ventilation and fire suppression. Our
stoves are also dated and worn and have been prone to
electrical shorts. The fire marshal worked with us so that we
could continue operation as solutions were explored. Thanks to the hard work of our
Property Committee and church staff and the support of Trinity’s Vestry, we are now
ready to proceed with the installation of a new vent, hood, suppression system and
two commercial grade ovens/stoves. All of these improvements will facilitate our
many ministries which involve food and will secure the safety of our building and
those who gather here. Thanks to donors who have covered the cost of this project and
to Common Ground, which has applied for a grant to allow us to
proceed. Construction updates will be published as they become available.

Education Assistance Applications Due May 15
Trinity is able to offer financial assistance to student members,
some in the form of specific scholarships, but most through the
offer of no-interest student loans. Applications are available to
download from the church website at www.trinityreading.org;
click on 'Ministries' and then on 'Educational Assistance.' No late or incomplete
applications will be accepted. After vestry consideration of the recommendations, all
students will be notified. Those persons who are offered loans will then receive a
repayment document to complete. Once that paperwork and all other requirements are
met, a check will be disbursed by mid August.
