June 2019 News and Events
Trinity Pew Restoration Project
The pews in Trinity’s nave date back to 1851 when
Henry Muhlenberg and Trinity’s Building Committee
supervised installing new pews, a new pulpit, and
new galleries. The pew seats were hand carved from
oak. Now some of our pews need loving repair. The
Property Committee engaged Piper Construction to
renovate ten pews to make them structurally sound
and safe to use. Piper’s crew preserved the original
hand-carved seat and added a new layer so that the pews are safe to sit on for many
years to come. One renovated pew is the one nearest the back of the church on the right
side of the nave. If you bend down to look at these pew seats from the aisle, you can
see the two layers. The Property Committee plans to renovate ten more pews next year.
Courtyard Café Returns
Summer will soon be here. It’s time to get ready for the Courtyard Café,
where we welcome our neighbors who live and work in the area to join
us for a picnic meal. Many of those we serve are struggling financially
and really appreciate the opportunity for food and fellowship. The Café
will be held outside in the courtyard on June 19th, July 18th, and August
15th. Please come volunteer and enjoy the event. We will need food
donations and members to help the day of the event. Sign up at the Welcome Table
before church. Let’s celebrate summer and great fellowship together. For more
information, contact Dee Horst at 610-780- 9514 [email protected].

It is possible to hear in Jesus’ high priestly prayer, a prayer he offered shortly before his
death, the petitions of the ascended Lord for his own throughout history—to our day—
and beyond. Jesus prays for us. In holy baptism we become believers in God, have our
robes washed in the flood of Christ’s forgiveness, and receive the gift of life forever with
all the saints.

Pentecost is a day of promises fulfilled. The promised Spirit of God is poured out. The
baptized have become “children of God” and “joint heirs with Christ.” By the power of the
Spirit we have seen the face of the Father in his only begotten Son and been saved by him.
Bless the Lord, O my soul.
