Teaching notes This activity can create an excellent opportunity for students to learn from one another. It is a flexible activity that could be used in many ways, including as a revision activity. Focusing the discussion around the differences in responses and on the cards placed under the ‘Not sure’ heading will be more beneficial to the students than focusing on what they already agree upon. Procedure 1. Divide the class into groups of 4-6 students. 2. Give each group an envelope containing the ‘True’, ‘False’ and ‘Not sure’ headings on coloured paper and the statement cards. 3. Ask the students to place the ‘True’, ‘False’ and ‘Not sure’ cards on the table or floor. One by one, they should read each statement and discuss under which heading it should be placed. 4. When all groups have completed the activity, allow them time to view the responses of other groups. Discussion Points for discussion could include: • Why were statements placed under 'Not sure’? • Is it important to agree? • How can you find out if something is true or false? • Which statements were more difficult to answer? • Which statements would you like to find out more information on?
