New Jersey State Step Association

• Team belongs to the New Jersey State Step Association (NJSSA).

• Statewide organization

• Develops and regulates all competitive rules and regulations.

• Community service is a major aspect.

Team Goals

• 2. Place first in every competition!

Team Rules

• Must be at all practices two weeks prior to demonstration or competition to participate

• Only excuses are doctors notes and death in the family with program.

• Must have signed forms (Athletic Physical & Student Information) to attend tryout (please return forms)

• NO CELL PHONES EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TRYOUTS

• Tryouts will begin on Monday, October 5, 2015.

• Tryout practices: Monday, October 5th - Thursday, October 16th

• Mondays and Fridays: 2:30 pm - 6:00 pm

• Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays: 2:30 pm – 3:45 pm

• Saturday, October 10th: 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

TRYOUTS

• Tryout Selection Day: Friday, October 16th

• Must wear shorts, t-shirt, and sneakers!!!!!

• All participants must have a valid Athletic Physical form completed

Practice

• Monday & Fridays: 2:30 - 6

• Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday– 2:40 – 3:45

• Saturday Practices w/ Coach 10 am – 1 pm

• Schoolwires

Parent Participation

• Monthly Parent Meeting: 10/2/2015-7pm– This meeting is for current and prospective parents

of team members.

• Chaperoning CHS Step Competitions– Security/Front Door

• Chaperoning Away Competitions– Bus

• Chaperoning Fundraising Events– Canning drive

Calendar of Events

• All information can be found on CHS website.

• Special appearances and performances• Competitions will be listed Calendar• Physical forms are due 9/21/15.

Basketball Halftime Performances

• All performances will be for Varsity from around 7:30 pm.

• Will be on calendar as Basketball Demo.

Fundraising

• Step Team is an unfunded activity.• Steppers are encouraged to fundraise constantly for

themselves and team.• Funds go towards:

– NJSSA membership– Nationals– Registration fees– Costumes– Uniforms (except shoes) (ordering tops on 11/1/15)– Miscellaneous items– Treats purchase

Expenses

• Uniform Jersey: $60.00 due 10/19/15

• Team Bag: $50.00 due 11/15/15

• Uniform Pants: $35.00 due 12/5/15

• Competition Team Costume: $70.00 due TBD - Fundraiser

• Competition Team Uniform Jacket/Pants: $120.00 due TBD - Fundraiser

Expenses

• Boots: $100.00 To Be Determined

• Shoes: Purchase on own due 12/1/14– White Low Top Nike Air Forces

Suggested Workout

• Workout Daily– One set

• 5 Kipups• 10 pushups• 30 situps

– Three sets every morning and night– Once it gets easy increase set to 4 then 5– After 5 go back and increase reps (Kipups and

pushups by 5/ situps by 10) and start over from 3 sets.

Suggested Workout

• Walk/Run for 40 minutes

• This should be done to increase strength and stamina.

– $3,000 first place

– Managed by NJSSA

• Youth USA National Step Competition– $600.00/person
