25 Years Congratulations...

Fabulous milestone enjoyed by Mrs Lorraine Naqicatabua,

Mrs Lynne Guli and Mrs Sue Ah Shay. Some Mary MacKillop

quotes that personify their longevity in education:

We are but travellers here.

We have much for which to be thankful.

Find happiness making other people happy.

Be calm and full of hope.

25 July 2019 Dear Staff, Parents and Caregivers of Good Counsel Primary School Innisfail During the 4th year of a principal’s five-year appointment, principals in the Diocese of Cairns are required to undertake an appraisal. This process is designed to review performance in nominated aspects of leadership and management and provide affirmation and feedback regarding quality and effectiveness of their work. Mr Liam Kenny Principal Good Counsel Primary School Innisfail is now due to undertake this appraisal process. The process will gain feedback from this community via a questionnaire and/or a face-to-face meeting with a visiting panel. The appraisal process includes the following elements:

• A survey is prepared by Catholic Education Services – Diocese of Cairns. This survey is to be completed on-line.

• All families will be provided with the weblink to access the survey on-line. All staff members are invited to participate in the survey. All respondents are asked to use the weblink to complete the survey as directed.

• Families unable to access the survey online are able to collect a hardcopy of the survey from the school/college office.

• A summary report of the on-line surveys is prepared by Catholic Education Services based on the collated results.

• A Review Panel consisting of an Independent Chairperson, the Director School Effectiveness, a Peer Principal and the Manager School Operations is convened and will meet at the school to interview the Principal, the Parish Priest, staff members and any parents who may wish to be interviewed.

• The Independent Chairperson prepares a report for the Executive Director CES, Cairns. All information gathered by the panel is confidential and cannot be used for any purpose other than the Appraisal of the Principal. The Appraisal Panel Members will be Mr John O’Brien as Independent Chair, Ms Narelle Harney as Peer Principal, Mrs Lea Martin, Acting Director School Effectiveness and Mr Paul Cazzulino Director School Operations. Please contact me if further information is required about this process by telephone on 07 4050 9700. Yours faithfully

IAN DAVIS Deputy Executive Director
