PRINCIPAL’S REPORT

DANGER, DANGER, DANGER - CAR PARKING AND SAFETY It has come to our attention once again that parents are causing danger or harm to our students by unlawful driving behaviours on Burford Way. We teach our children about safe passage to and from school that includes crossing roads carefully, looking out for cars and traffic.

If you see unlawful or illegal behaviour dangerous to our students please report it directly to the Police or to the Casey Local Laws area via [email protected] email with attention to Local Laws or call 9705 5200 to report it as they go to areas on a complaints basis. Keep our students safe!

UPDATING SCHOOL INFORMATION If your family circumstances have changed, or home address or contact numbers are different from your time of enrolment, please contact our office to update your current details.

2020 ENROLMENTS AND HOME GROUP ORGANSIATION If your child/children are not returning (excluding Year 6) to Tulliallan PS in 2019, please email our office on [email protected] as soon as possible. Due to the numbers of students to be allocated to Home Groups for 2020, we have started the process of Home Group placement. This is a comprehensive process where we strive for equitable and cohesive Home Groups of students. We consider the following for Home Group Formation: Equal distributions of academic ability Gender distribution to be as equitable as possible Behaviour and student special needs Equitable distribution of students new to the school Students select 3 friends in priority order Your child will be asked to nominate 3 friends in priority order and we will endeavour to give each child one friend from this list. Please discuss this list with your child. Once Home Groups are formulated and announced, changes will not be made as one change has a snowball effect on the cohesiveness of the group.

EDUNET Portal = http://tulliallanps.technologyportal.com.au Password = TPS2020 A reminder If parents wish to have their Laptop before Christmas, the cut-off date for EDUNET orders via the Portal is October 30th. FIRST PREP TRANSITION PROGRAM NEXT WEEK - TUESDAY 29TH OCTOBER 3.45PM Due to having such large numbers of Prep students for 2020, our transition session starts at 3.45pm after school. 2020 Preps will make their way through the front gate to the Prep building where they will be greeted by staff to collect their name badge. Once parents drop them off at the door then the parents make their way to the stadium for the parent information session. Thank you to the staff who are dedicating their time after school to assist with transition. It is appreciated. Current preps will need to be picked up on time at 3.20pm sharp to lessen the congestion. Have a wonderful week

SPECIALIST CODE OF CO-OPERATION

Unfortunately, some children’s behaviour has been unacceptable in specialist classes of late and therefore a Code of Cooperation was developed by the Specialist team setting out very clearly what the expectations are when attending specialist classes.

This code was sent home late last term with the expectation of it being returned before Term 3 finished.

As yet we have not received all codes, so this is a friendly reminder that if you haven’t returned the code to do so by this Friday, October 25th. We thank you for your cooperation

COMMITMENT TO CHILD SAFETY - CHILD SAFE STANDARDS

Tulliallan Primary School is committed to child safety. We want children to be safe, happy and empowered. We support and respect all children, as well as our staff and members of the school community. We are committed to the safety, participation and empowerment of all students. We have a zero tolerance of child abuse, and all allegations and safety concerns will be treated seriously.

HUFF N PUFF

Tuesday marked the very first day for Huff n Puff here at Tulliallan. It was great to see so many students and families getting involved and walking/running laps around the outside of the oval to gain house points.

Huff n Puff will be every Tuesday and Thursday morning from 8:45am to the start of music out on the oval with Miss Dawson. Parents and family members are welcome to participate to gain house points for their child – one of your laps will count for 2 house points for them and go towards their weekly distance.

We will be taking a weekly tally of the distance ran and house points gained by each student and at the end of the term, we will be giving a prize to the student who runs the furthest distance. So get huffing and puffing, get those muscles moving and see you tomorrow morning at 8:45am!

MIXED VOLLEYBALL

On Tuesday 22nd of October, our Year 6 Mixed Volleyball Team played in the Divisional Playoffs here at Tulliallan Primary School. It was a great game and the students played exceptionally well but unfortunately we lost to Hillsmeade Primary School 2 sets to 1. Well done to Athar, Gurmatt, Willie, Zain, Nawid, Jusarnia, Shreya and Angelina, you should be very proud of how well you played!

REGIONAL ATHLETICS

Congratulations to the following students who competed at the Regional Athletics on Monday - Natalie, Faraz, Hasitha, Ayen, Bridgette, Annabelle and Zahra. There are over 300 schools within the Southern Metropolitan Region, so this means our students competed within the top 15 students of these 300 schools. This is such a fantastic achievement and we are very proud of you!

SCHOOL NEWS

BOOK FAIR – BUY ONE GET ONE FREE

Early in the year Tulliallan Primary school had a very successful Book Fair, where students had the opportunity to purchase a great range of books and stationery items. Due to the Fair doing so well, Scholastic have offered our school the opportunity to host another Fair. This Fair is a ‘Buy One Get One Free Book Fair’, where the free book is donated back to the school to become part of class libraries. All donated books will have a certificate inside identifying the family who has donated the book. The Fair will open on Friday November 15th, to coincide with our Mini Fete and it will be held in the Administration Resource Centre.

Have a good week
