All girls were highly engaged throughout the workshops and reported that they learned alot about how to manage aspects of their physical, social and emotional health.

The feedback from parent/carers has also been very positive with helpful, supportiveconversations between students and their parent/carers are happening.

Surf FestDay one of the Teams Challenge Surf Fest presented solid surf, which meant a lot of workand a lot of duck diving. All 6 teams gave their very best in the tough conditions, receivinggreat scores for their performances in their first round heats.

Day two’s conditions were a lot smaller and a lot more manageable for the final roundheats. Unfortunately, due to the conditions within our heats, five of our six teams didn’tmake the top 16 teams out of the 40+ teams who entered the competition. However, one ofour boys’ team, consisting of Hughie, Jack and Cooper were ranked second after thecompletion of the rounds. A huge accomplishment considering that they were up againstsenior students (17-18 year olds).

The boys powered through their quarter and semi-final heats with Hughie scoring analmost perfect score on the way to qualifying for the final. Already stoked on their finalappearance, Hughie led out the team, once again receiving a solid score to get the teamstarted. Up next was Jack who strategically caught an inside wave and surfed it nicely allthe way into shore, in order to allow just enough time for Cooper to get into the water. Thefinal surfer, Cooper, was faced with a difficult challenge of running, paddling and catching awave all with less than 2 minutes on the clock. Cooper positioned himself away from theother competitors and close to the shore. He was able to catch a quick wave which helpedincrease the team’s final score.

The boy’s finished in second place, a massive achievement which they should all be proudof. The boys celebrated by going out immediately after the final for an expression session, showing no signs exhaustion after a full day of surfing.

All the students who participated in the Teams Challenge should be congratulated on theirbehaviour, effort and comradery over the two days, representing Tumbi Umbi Campus withpride. Congratulations!

College NetballThe 15’s girls’ college netball team played undoubtedly their best game yet last weekagainst Cheltenham Girls High School, for a position in the top four of the Sydney NorthKnock Out. The game was extremely close with scores locked at 46 all with only 36 seconds on theclock. Unfortunately for our girls Cheltenham got a goal with only seconds to go. It was an amazing game that had all staff from PCYC watching. We are very proud of yourefforts!

Open Girls FootballTLSC girls took on Gorokan in round 1 of the Puma Trophy. The girls were nervous pre-match, many not having kicked a ball since last season. The girls gelled quickly, scoring 2goals inside 10 minutes before Gorokan pulled one back. From there, the girls controlled the game, restricting the opposition to 2 more shots for therest of the game. We managed to score 3 more times in the first half, making the half-timescore 5-1. Our dominance of possession and field position showed, with the girls scoring a further 9goals in the second half to run out 14-1 winners. The goal scorers we Nyah 2, Mia 4,Krystal 3, Lily 1, Lauren 2 and Casey 2. The rest of the team consisted of Kaitlyn, Ash,Caitlin, Aleisha, Jacinta, Darby, Josie and Sarah.
