Principals MessageThis edition of the newsletter shares several key campus processes with our community toensure that everyone has a clear understanding of their impact and importance

We also take the time to recognise and celebrate the successes from our recent swimmingcarnival There is nothing like the sound of young people supporting each other to bring asmile to any adult face

Swimming CarnivalOur annual carnival was incredibly successful with students staff and communitycombining to enjoy a great day Students were outstanding in their participation andsupport of each other The war cries were amazing and the colour in the stands told agreat story as we watched records tumble

Central Vision - 6 MarchOrganisation of the prestigious annual secondary school art exhibition ndash Central Vision iswell underway We have an excited team of Visual Arts teachers who have been advisedthat the following talented artists have been selected to exhibit

Thursday Sport BusesEvery Thursday most of the campus are bussed to sport venues This means that our busbay is filled with movement to buses from 1145am to 1230pm In the interest of studentand community safety we ask that community refrain from parking in the bus bay at thesetimes on a Thursday



Safe on Social Media WorkshopsLast week we hosted a cyber-safety expert Kirra who has extensive experience in thisfield at our campus She conducted workshops for staff parents carers and all students onthe how and why of staying safe on social media Every person who attended learned somuch about the many social media platforms available to all

The message being delivered was not about banning social media but rather how to besafe on it and how to protect yourself your family and the digital footprints being left byeverybody

All who attended are now aware of the legal implications of misuse of social mediaplatforms and the actions to be taken This includes the taking and publication of images ofany child in a school uniform by a child or adult This is not isolated to our campus Itapplies to all schools We thank everyone for not taking or publishing photos of any studentwho is not your own child in identifiable uniform without consent gained through thePrincipal

If you missed the parent and carer session ask your child what he or she learned Yoursquoll beastounded We will be presenting this session again later in the year as well as providinginformation through our newsletter

Enrolment at TLSC Tumbi Umbi CampusTLSC Tumbi Umbi Campus enjoys and values the tremendous support we have from ourcommunity and beyond for our approach programs and relationships with students andtheir families We are a school of choice for families both in zone and out of zone

Every school has a cap on enrolments that are set by the number and nature of theclassrooms available for use TLSC Tumbi Umbi Campus has reached its enrolment capand as such there will be limited spots available for out of zone enrolments in 2021

All requests for out of zone enrolment will be considered using the DoE policy as has beenthe practice in previous years

Thank you for understanding that a refusal for an out of zone enrolment application doesnot reflect on anyone but rather tells that we do not have the classroom space to takestudents who do not live within our zone

Inclusion of Student Images in CampusPublicationsOn enrolment every parent or carer has the choice to allow the campus to use or not usetheir childrsquos image in our campus publications This includes our annual Yearbook

Every year students are disappointed because their photo does not appear in theYearbook The reason for this is because their parents or carers have chosen not to allowthe campus to publish their image

If you want to check whether or not you have given permission to publish your childrsquosimage in campus publications including online please email the campus and mark youremail ATTENTION Enrolment Manager

Standing TallerIt was a pleasure to read and sign off on all Standing Taller reports for Round 1 of 2020 Itis wonderful to share that all students are incredibly well settled and actively engaged intheir learning

Congratulations to our students and staff for your great work together Thank you also toour parents and carers for your support

Year 7 Parent Carer EveningMonday 9 March will see all Year 7 parents and carers welcomed by the teachers of theirchildren to share your childrsquos learning at TLSC Tumbi Umbi Campus The evening willbegin at 530pm and conclude by 700pm This is an opportunity to meet teachers hear ofthe organisation for learning and ask general questions



Mathspace - Online Maths ProgramMathspace is an online Mathematics program that Tumbi Umbi Campus is utilising to helpincrease the mathematical confidence and competency within our students from years 7 to10

All Students have a logon and have been allocated a computer lesson each fortnightwhere they complete tasks set by their classroom teacher that are aligned with contentbeing studied in class

Along with these set tasks students can complete tasks as homework or explore the siteto assist in areas of need or interest The site has informative lessons that provide real lifeapplications questions and clear but detailed explanation of answers

Should your child have any issues logging in please get them to seek assistance fromtheir Mathematics teacher or Miss Wilson
