RESERVATIONS

To reserve a single niche, in the Tuncurry ‘Wall of Faith’ Columbarium, an application form must be completed and a refundable holding deposit paid (where applicable), to secure or reserve the niche.

Full fees can be submitted at this time if so desired. Once the full fee has been paid, the reservation is secured against any future fee increases.

To reserve niches in the Feature Columns (purchased as pairs, side by side) or the Family Remembrance Columns (purchased as a complete set of four niches) an application form must be completed and full payment made in advance.

BOOKINGS

Bookings and enquiries can be made in three ways. You can:

1. Telephone Great Lakes Council, Community Engagement Branch (02) 6591 7240 and speak with our Cemetery Services Officer; OR

2. Call in to the Customer Service Centre at Council’s Administrative Building, located in Breese Parade, Forster; OR

3. Speak with one of the local Funeral Directors.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

The Tuncurry Cemetery appears to have been founded in the late 1870s, at which time the area was known as North Forster. The earliest identified grave is that of Robert Hutchison who died 19 June 1883. The Lawn Cemetery section and Columbarium area were established in 1975/76. The Memorial Gardens section was opened in 1994.

GENERAL INFORMATION

This memorial is for the placement of ashes remains. The columbarium niche includes a plaque with fixed vase, which is fitted in front of the niche, securely covering the recess in which the ashes remains are placed. Plaques are available in bronze. Ongoing cleaning of the plaque is the responsibility of the client and can best be achieved by using warm water, detergent and a soft cloth or toothbrush.

COLUMBARIUM INFORMATION

The Tuncurry ‘Wall of Faith’ Columbarium is constructed of polished granite and comprises:

• 60 circular individual niches.

• 2 Feature Columns, each containing 8 niches. The niches in the Feature Columns must be purchased as pairs (2 side by side).

• 2 Family Remembrance Columns, each containing 4 niches. The Family Remembrance Columns must be purchased as a complete unit of 4 niches. A plaque will be installed on the column detailing the Family name.

LOCATION WITHIN CEMETERY

The Tuncurry ‘Wall of Faith’ Columbarium is located near the Memorial Ashes Garden area along the southern side of the exit road.

URNS AND PLAQUES

Only one urn of ashes remains can be placed into each wall niche. The cost of the columbarium niche includes the supply of a bronze plaque with vase, inscribed with the words and motifs of your choice.
