Session description
fficiency and productivity growth enables businesses to raise profit and enhance market
share at the micro level. Furthermore, it helps a country to counteract inflation, create job
opportunities, and to force the necessary industrial restructuring at the macro level. There
is widespread and pervasive consensus among academic researchers in the field of growth
theory, policy makers, and/or businessmen that efficiency and productivity growth is
indispensable to sustainable economic growth. The thrust of this session is to present both
theoretical and practical recent researches dealing with efficiency, productivity and performance
measurement and improvement. Indeed, this session seeks to develop an understanding in and
across manufacturing, service, and public sector organizations. Topics of interest include, but are
not limited to, following topics:
Productivity measurement: parametric and nonparametric approaches
Efficiency measurement and its improvements
Performance measurement tools and techniques
Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) and its recent applications
