The historic centre of Istanbul, hereyou'll explore the legacy of the Greek, Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman empires.

Take in the majesty of the 6th-century Hagia Sophia, whose stunning construction is said to have changed the history ofarchitecture. When not erecting splendid buildings, the Byzantine Emperors loved a bit of entertainment, and theHippodrome of Constantinople was their stadium. Inspect some of the decorative statues and obelisks that remain,harking back to a time when this space would play host to thousands of chariot racing fans. Bathe in the beauty of the15th-century, fairy tale-esque Topkapi Palace, the residence of Ottoman Sultans. And spend time meandering throughthe narrow lanes that burrow through the huge Grand Bazaar, packed with more than 3,000 stalls of handcraftedjewellery, textiles, books and spices. Enjoy a relaxing breakfast before your walk to the most beautiful valley in Cappadocia, Kizilcukur. You'll see fascinatingrock formations such as cones, peaks and fairy chimneys made from tuff – a light, porous rock formedby consolidaed volcanic ash – as well as man-made cave chapels from early Christian times. Around noon, your guidewill take you to a beautiful lodge to watch the spiritual Mevlevi, or Whirling Dervish Ceremony – an 'activemeditation' that is said to show devotion to god, and a practice that been recognised by UNESCO. Soon after this youwill enjoy your first Inspiring TasteInspiring Taste with a local specialty called a Pottery Kebab – Cappadocia's traditional, must-try dish,prepared in a clay pot.

Today, we visit the incredible underground city of Derinkuyu. Prepare to be blown away by this vast subterranean site,which comprises ancient dwellings that span seven levels beneath the ground, extending to a depth of approximately60 metres.

Next, you'll make your way to the archaeological site of Asikli Hoyuk, an ancient neolithic settlement and now amuseum, which was first settled in 8,000 BCE. Later in the afternoon we'll visit Kizil Irmak, or the Red River ofCappadocia, famous for its clay, which is still used to make magnificent pieces of art today. You’ll learn about this

We leave Cappadocia today and head towards the Mediterranean coast. The drive is long, but it's also incredibly scenic.We'll enjoy a pit stop in Konya to try the local food before continuing to the jewel in the Mediterranean crown –Antalya. The ancient city is the eastern gateway to Turkey's southern Mediterranean region, known as the TurquoiseCoast for its magnificent blue waters. Remnants from Antalya's time as a major Roman port remain: from Hadrian’sGate, built to honour the Roman emperor’s visit in 130 CE, to the 2nd-century Hidirlik Tower, which boasts stunningharbour views.

This morning you’ll enjoy a walk to see Hadrian’s Gate, the old Roman Harbours and the turquoise waters of theMediterranean before enjoying lunch. We will then be travelling on to the Greek ghost town of Kayakoy, which is said tobe the setting for Louis de Bernières' novel Birds Without Wings. Stroll around and take in the eerie atmosphere. Fromhere we continue to Fethiye, a beautiful town surrounded by pine forests and dotted with islands.

This morning will be at your leisure. After lunchtime, we will board a traditional Turkish sailboat known as a gulet – yourhome for the next three days. A gulet is a wooden yacht usually built in Bodrum or Marmaris in Turkey that measures 20to 30 metres in length on average. Handcrafted from mahogany, pine and teak, the gulets follow a design developed forthese waters in Byzantine times, with a sharp bow, broad beam and rounded aft. They are stylish, graceful, fitted forcomfort and full of character. We cruise in style along the spectacular coastline of Turkey for the next three days on ajourney that promises Kodak moments at every turn.

This morning we will visit the ruins of Hellenistic spa town Hierapolis, located next to Pamukkale. Founded by the Kingof Pergamon in 190 BCE, it had become an important Roman bath centre by the second century CE. The extensive ruinsof Hierapolis are well worth exploring and include a theatre, temple, holy area, monumental fountain, bath, basilica andnecropolis.

Our day will start with an orientation walk around the town of Selcuk, which lies at the base of the partially restoredancient Ayasuluk Fortress. Here, you'll visit the last remaining fragments of the Temple of Artemis – one of the SevenWonders of the World – as well as a Roman and Byzantine aqueduct and the exquisite 14th-century Isa Bey Mosque.

This afternoon, visit Ephesus, one of the best-preserved classical cities in the Eastern Mediterranean, and arguably thegreatest Greco-Roman site in the world. Marvel at the vast amphitheatre, stroll the marble streets once walked byCleopatra and Mark Antony, and wander through the gymnasium, baths and beautifully restored Library of Celsus. AfterEphesus, we drive to Sirince village to join a very special Inspiring TasteInspiring Taste cooking class led by an amazing cook, Mujde!

The highlight for today is a visit to the legendary city of Troy. TIPPING A friendly reminder that tipping is not included in your package. Tipping is not compulsoryon your trip, but they can make a big difference to locals employed in the tourism industry. Ifyou are happy with the services provided, a tip is an appropriate way to thank them. While itmay not be customary to you, it is of great significance to the people who will take care ofyou during your travels and inspires excellent service.

Over the years we have found that many of our travellers find the need for tipping to be bothtiresome and embarrassing, especially if they don’t have the correct small change. Toovercome this, your leader might raise the idea of a group tipping kitty, whereby everybodycontributes an equal amount and then your tour leader pays the tips as you go. The leaderwill keep a running record of all monies spent (except restaurant tips). The record can bechecked at any time and any money remaining at the end of the tour returned to groupmembers. This amount is usually €2-4 (AUD$3-6) per person per day. This kitty does notinclude tips for your leader and crew.

You may also consider tipping your tour leader for outstanding service throughout your trip.The amount is entirely a personal preference; however, as a guideline of €2-4 (AUD$3-6) perperson per day can be used. Of course, you are free to tip as you see fit, depending on yourperception of service quality and the length of your trip.

PAIRED SOLO TRAVELLERS This package allows you to avoid paying a single supplement by booking as a Paired SoloTraveller

All bookings must be arranged over the phone by calling 1300 88 66 88.

Regardless of whether an accompanying solo traveller is found, you are guaranteed to travelat no additional cost.

Solo travellers are matched only on the basis of gender and not on other factors such as age,nationality, religion or sexuality. We kindly ask that you disclose any requirements, medical orotherwise, that might disturb your matched traveller’s sleep (e.g. sleep apnoea or a CPAPmachine). Unfortunately, in the other traveller’s interests, we request that you proceed withyour own private room with the resulting single supplement. Should a second solo traveller not be available, you are nonetheless guaranteed to travel atno extra cost and you will be placed into a single, twin share or double room by yourself. Yourtour group may include multiple solo travellers who may or may not be paired. No changeswill be permitted to any pairing arrangements.

Note that for some portions of some itineraries, you may not be with a larger group. Somepackages may operate on groups as small as two and there may therefore be time spenttravelling only with your paired traveller. Should a package require a minimum number of 2travellers and you are not paired, your booking may be cancelled.

You will be introduced to your matched solo traveller at the beginning of your itinerary andyour personal details will not be shared as per our Privacy Policy. Should there be anydissatisfaction with your matched traveller, unfortunately we are unable to make anychanges to your room arrangements or offer any refund. Inspiring Vacations takes noresponsibility for and will not be held liable for any dissatisfaction with the matched travelleror for their actions.

VISA & PASSPORT INFORMATION It is the traveller's responsibility to ensure they have a valid passport. The passport must bevalid for a minimum of six months from the intended date of return to Australia.

Please note that you will be required to get visa for travel to TURKEY.

Visa's are easiest to complete online and take approximately 3 days to confirm oncepayment has been received.

After you receive the “e-mail address verification message” within an hour, you must click the“approve” button and proceed with the payment within 48 hours. Otherwise, yourapplication will time out, the system will not accept payment, and you will need to create anew application.

You will be able to obtain your e-visa with your flight documents indicating your date ofentry into Turkey, approximately 3 months prior to departure. Remaining tourdocumentation, including hotel details, will be sent 6 weeks prior to departure.

Please note the e-visa is limited to 90 days validity from the date of arrival and is only valid for3 months from date of issue.
