Altar Flowers for this weekend:

Valadez Family Honor someone special by offering altar flowers $45.00 call

parish office to reserve your weekend

Thank you for your faithful Stewardship of our Parish

and for your generous donations

GOSPEL MEDITATION

A steward is called to manage the master’s possessions wisely and

well even while the master is away. How do I use the gifts God has

given to me? Do I share my talents with others freely? Do I use my

resources to assist others in need? How enterprising am I in using my

talents and resources for building up God’s Kingdom?

WORD OF LIFE

“Pope Francis has seen a deeper link between the poor and the un-

born. They are both among the first victims of a ‘throw-away socie-

ty.’” — “Poverty and Abortion: A Vicious Cycle”*

culo vicioso”

Baby banks will be distributed after Mass next

Sunday! Ascension will host this campaign to

foster a greater respect for the sanctity of hu-

man life. Your donation will help pro-life ef-

forts in our parish and throughout the diocese.

The Gabriel Project, Project Rachel, Sidewalk Ministry, Pro-Life

Help Line and much more will receive funds from this campaign.

Your support is greatly appreciated.

25THSUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

The key to the readings this Sunday is the final line of the

Gospel. “You cannot serve both God and mammon.” Again

this week Jesus asks us about where our heart, our energy and

our devotion lie. Are we committed to God or to the things of

this world? Are we aware of the needs of the poor or do we

trample them with our inattention? The Lord urges us to be

wise and clever so we can serve him in serving those in need.

“No puedes servir a ambos, Dios y

The Knights of Columbus of Ascension Parish

are forming a Columbian Squires program.

Knights. Activities may include outdoor activities, sports,

at the bell tower after all Masses on the weekends of 9/18 and

9/25. Our first organizational meeting will be Sunday, Sep-

tember 25 at 4:00 p.m. in the Youth House. Please come to

the meeting, stop by our table.
