MESSAGE FROM THE FESTIVAL COMMITTEE Welcome to the 23rd Biennial Milton Music Festival. The Milton Music Teachers’ Association is excited to present our 2016 Festival Syllabus. As Canada’s fastest growing community, Milton is also home to a dynamic and engaged arts community of which the Milton Music Festival plays an integral part. Since 1980, the Milton Music Festival has provided talented musicians of all ages an opportunity to come together to gain valuable performance experience and guidance from professional adjudicators. The 2016 Festival Syllabus includes over 50 individual classes for piano, voice, guitar, woodwinds, brass and ensembles. This year’s festival will take place over two weeks from May 2 to May 13 concluding with our Grand Festival Concert on Sunday May 15, 2016. This year we are delighted to offer online registration to our 2016 Festival participants. To register please visit www.mmta.ca. The deadline for registration is February 1, 2016. Members of the Milton Music Teachers’ Association have organized two fabulous weeks of classes to bring together students to perform for, learn from and be inspired by adjudicators and each other. We have selected adjudicators with diverse backgrounds in order to provide students with a unique festival experience. We look forward to seeing you in May 2016 for a fantastic event! Sincerely, Festival Co-ordinator

ABOUT THE MILTON MUSIC TEACHERS’ ASSOCIATION

The Milton Music Teachers’ Association is an association of independent professional music teachers founded in 1971.

The purpose of the association is to work co-operatively as teachers to provide opportunities to foster and recognize musical excellence in all our students; to encourage and inspire one another as teachers and musicians and to provide opportunities for professional development.

The MMTA offers participation in the organization and presentation of the Milton Music Festival, participation in monthly recitals hosted by member teachers and the use of the Association’s excellent pianos for private recitals.

The MMTA offers enjoyable, productive monthly meetings, pedagogy and opportunities to socialize and to share expertise, ideas and concerns with colleagues and friends.

The Milton Music Teachers are always happy to welcome new members. For further information regarding the Milton Music Teachers’ Association please visit our website at www.mmta.ca or contact Betty-Ann Burgoyne at 905-878-5980.

COMMUNITY SUPPORT

The success of the Milton Music Festival is contingent on community support.

If you would like to help fund our Festival, your contributions will be gratefully accepted. We can direct your donations to any aspect of this event, which includes printing the program, rental fees of the venues, medals, adjudicator fees or any other festival expense.

We know we can count on the monetary support of our local music-loving individuals, organizations and businesses.

Thank you.

2016 is the year we celebrate the 23rd Milton Music Festival.

The Festival was founded in 1980 and has continued to grow throughout the years.

It has showcased many talented individuals and we hope to continue this tradition for many years to come.

Our thanks to all those who have made the Festival such a success!
