Two key activities to promote
to schools:
• Summer of Hope Fundraising as part of Coronavirus
Emergency Appeal
• National Assembly “Hope in the time of Coronavirus”
You are invited to recreate at home the events you will miss this summer and have fun transforming them into a sign of hope through raising money for CAFOD’s Coronavirus appeal.
The ask:
Could be done as
• a whole school effort (even if closed) – set
up a school JustGiving page with a
collective target
• As a family
• As individuals
• As a parish

Two students went back garden camping and an outdoor film night instead of Guide Camp and raised money
Riding distance from home in Devon to Parliament over month
Whole school cycling and walking distance from Manchester to Western Spain where Y6 should have been on residential
Ideas suggested by young leaders:
o Virtual summer quiz
o Themed photography competition
o Virtual music festival or gig
o Camping in garden
o Play games online and get sponsored
o Student v. teacher quiz – one school already did a Y13 v. teachers quiz
o Online birthday party
o Funny dressing up – use one toilet roll and some sellotape, all turn up to a zoom meeting ready!
o Beat the teacher – set them a challenge (e.g. longest handstand or something silly) and donate to
see if you can beat them
o Bake off (judged by looks and not taste)
o End of year virtual dinner dance/ prom – pay to get your choice of song on the playlist
o Teacher talent show (get teachers who sing or do magic to do them online and students pay to
attend and vote)

The National Assembly is a fantastic opportunity for schools to gather online, reflect on the pandemic in the light of their faith and know how to take action to bring hope to both their own communities, and the communities that are most vulnerable. 15 minutes long, suitable for KS2 and secondary
