If you are interested in learning more about the new curriculum please email the school (address above) and let us know if you would be interested in attending a parent workshop next term. Lots of exciting things are happening in our yard at lunch time. We have many activities on offer such as skipping, Five a Side soccer, Treble and Bass Crew, Computing, Lego League, Bay Blades etc. Lots of variety gives students alternatives to sport and/or hanging around and being bored. It will be interesting to see if these activities support a reduction of students in the time out room!

Principal The extra long weekend and lovely weather proved to be a winner for many staff,

students and families. Many excited children have told me about their visit to The Royal

Last Monday Garry Costello, the DECD Chief Education Officer visited Two Wells Primary

KEEP UP THIS TERRIFIC RECORD

A recent article in the School Post ( SAASSO ) reveals a clear

link between absenteeism and literacy and numeracy scores.

For all ages, scores were higher for children who were not

absent. As children grow older, the more days they missed, the

lower their scores. This is certainly worth thinking about.

Better Homes & Gardens’ Jason Hodges has joined

forces with OMO to teach kids about the benefits of

getting dirty and the value of a green thumb! There’s over

$100,000 dollars of horticultural prizes to be won,

including a $20,000 school garden designed and built by

Jason Hodges with the help of the students. For your

chance to improve your kids’ school, simply buy any

OMO product from Woolworths/Safeway, save the receipt

and go to http://www.omo.com.au/win/ and fill in the entry

form.

PREMIER’S READING CHALLENGE – what an awesome

effort, the students at Two Wells Primary School have

reached the 100% mark. Everyone completed the

challenge, with some students even reading 5, 9 and over

sheets. Two students finished 17 …. that’s 204 books

since February.

Now that’s way fantastic..!!

OVERDUES – notices, informing you of any overdue books

will, hopefully, be sent out in Week 4 of Term 4. Please

note that your child{ren} will have been notified of these

overdues on several occasions prior to the notice being

sent out. Additionally, the library shelves will also have

been searched. If there are any problems locating the

item{s} please do not hesitate to contact me. There is a

two {2} week resolution period, after which an invoice for

the cost of the book{s} will be issued.

Your cooperation in these matters is very much

appreciated.

VOLUNTEERS – are an invaluable asset. They help out by

repairing, covering and bar-coding books – if that doesn’t

keep them busy enough there is always shelving,

displays, student activities {eg knitting, games}, computer

entry and much, much more. So if you are interested in

helping the school library out, while making new friends,

having a nice ‘cuppa’ or just getting out of the house,

please come on down. You will be most welcome, if only

for an hour. Thank You to everyone who regularly comes

in and assists – everything that’s happening in the library

is a result of a real team effort.

NEW RESOURCES – as a result of the fabulous Book

Fair during Book Week there is an abundance of new

materials being continuously processed for children of all

ages, reading ages and interests to read and access.

Wonderful.

School Banking Day Reminder Don’t forget that Friday is School Banking day and students should bring in their weekly deposit. For every deposit made at school, no matter how big or small, students will receive a cool Dollarmites token. The first token will be received upon the first deposit at school. Once students have individually collected 10 tokens they can then be redeemed for a range of great, exclusive reward items in recognition of their continued savings behaviour. Thank you for supporting the School Banking

program at Two Wells Primary School.

The Power of a Simple Gift.

The students are abuzz with an early Christmas

Cheer!! We are joining operation Christmas Child

again. Last year we were able to fill 41 shoe

boxes!!!!!!!! These were given to disadvantaged

children in South East Asia and Papua New Guinea.

We also raised around $350 by having a causal day

last year to help fund the cost of sending the shoe

boxes and supporting other Samaritan’s Purse

Australia Projects such as providing clean running

water to a village in Asia or vegetable plants to a

community in Papua New Guinea.

Please read the back page of this newsletter for

more information. Let’s help support our students

with this learning opportunity.
