Obtain the site Typography arrangement drawings clearly showing the layout and dimensions.

Install the supplied 48V Typography driver within the ceiling or wall cavity up to 10m away from the intended arrangement. Connect mains power (and dimming signal lines if required) into the driver input.

Connect the low voltage supply cable to the terminal block provided above the surface mount of the selected rail. Polarity is not critical. Push the connected cable back into the ceiling once connected.

Unpack and identify which rail sections will serve as vertical support rails - these will have surface mounts and terminal blocks pre-fitted at one end. If installing an arrangement with multiple vertical rails, ensure the correct length rail is selected for the point where the the driver will connect - consult the site Typography arrangement drawings

Slide the cover plate back onto the surface mount. For single drop rail arrangements, proceed directly to installation of the lights (refer Typography Lighting installation instructions). For multi rail arrangements, continue overleaf.

Run low voltage supply cable from the driver output across to the closest intended mounting point of a vertical support rail. Drill a ø20mm hole here for the electrical termination to be performed.

Slide the magnetic cover plate down the rail to expose 5 x fastening holes. Securely fix the rail to the ceiling using minimum 2 opposing holes. The fasteners (not supplied) must be countersunk head and appropriate for the substrate. During fixing, the rail rotation must be correctly aligned to orient any attaching lights in the desired direction, or meet any subsequent horizontal rails - see diagram.

- The connection of mains power to the driver and connection of the driver to the rail system must be performed by a licenced electrician.

- Please refer to Typography System Data Sheet for specific weight, power and installation restrictions before commencing works.

- The system MUST be connected via a remote 48V DC SELV Driver. NEVER connect directly to mains voltage. Failure to install and

connect via this driver can create severe electrical hazards, damage the product, and will void the warranty.

- Rakumba Lighting will not be held responsible for any damage caused by improper installation or assembly.

For multi rail arrangements, continue by installing all remaining vertical rails per the desired arrangement. ONLY ONE vertical rail should receive power input per independent rail circuit. Redundant connection cables with terminal blocks may be trimmed off the remaining surface mounts if not being used.

NOTE: A rail circuit is defined by any group of rails connected together at one or more points by active rail overlap connectors. Where rails are ONLY connected by passive rail overlap connectors or passive rail inline joiners, each side of the connection will be an independent circuit that requires connection to a driver (either the same driver, or a second driver, depending on power requirements).

Gather rail overlap connectors for each overlap in the arrangement- these allow for 90-degree connections between vertical and horizontal rails.

Identify all horizontal rails. These include an internal steel reinforcing bar to maximise rigidity - for this to be effective, the rail must be installed with the shallow alignment groove facing upwards.

Horizontal rails can overlap the vertical rails in front or behind, as shown below. Consult the client to determine the preferred aesthetic.

alignment groove rail overlap connector

10 Raise a horizontal rail at both ends, ensuring it always stays level. Align it with the connector clamps on the vertical rails, and pre-spread the cable contact areas on the hoizontal rail. Supporting the vertical rail, push the horizontal rail against the open clamp jaws. Tighten the screw that closes the horizontal jaws, ensuring the jaws are correctly engaging grooves on both rails, then FIRMLY tighten both screws to lock in place.

Repeat until all horzontal rails are installed and the rail arrangement is complete.

CAUTION: Keep the rail level during the installation - never allow a horizontal rail to sag at one end as a twisting force will damage the rail overlap connector.

CAUTION: Check the horizontal rail has the orientation groove facing upwards.

CAUTION: Check the system is connected via the driver before turning power on.

9 Measure and position all of the rail overlap connectors on the vertical rails first. To install, note the two cable grooves that will be used (refer diagram in previous step). Use the small flathead screwdriver to spread the cable apart and expose a 10mm section of copper wire in each groove. Push the connector jaws against these two contact areas and gently tighten the screw that closes this set of jaws, ensuring the jaws are correctly engaging grooves. Only tighten until the connector stays in place and does not slide. The horizontal jaws should remain at maximum open position to receive the horizontal rail. Repeat for all vertical rail connection points.

CAUTION: Do not push against a vertical rail without supporting it - this will apply damaging force to the ceiling connection.
