CONSTITUTION OF Sikh Students Association Article 1 – Name The club’s official name will be “ Sikh Students Association”, and may be referred to as “ SSA”. No other name will be used in the advertisement or representation of the club. Article 2 – Club Mandate We support those seeking to explore and embrace the spiritual and temporal aspects of Sikhism through understanding and practice. 1. To provide a forum to discuss and learn about the Sikh faith, history, current issues and related topics pertaining to Sikhism. 2. As a unit, to actively promote awareness of Sikhism through regularly scheduled events and recognition of major religious holidays. 3. In accordance with the Sikh faith, raise funds and volunteer time and resources to charitable organizations in the Unites States and abroad. Article 3 – Membership (1) The club’s membership is open to all students at the University. The club’s membership cannot be exclusive and must be open to all undergraduate students; Article 4 – Executive & Executive Responsibilities Team meetings shall be conducted on a regular basis that is subject to change. CONSTITUTION OF Sikh Students Association

Article 1 – Name

The club’s official name will be “Sikh Students Association”, and may be referred to as “SSA”. No other name will be used in the advertisement or representation of the club.

Article 2 – Club Mandate

We support those seeking to explore and embrace the spiritual and temporal aspects of Sikhism through understanding and practice.

1. To provide a forum to discuss and learn about the Sikh faith, history, current issues and related topics pertaining to Sikhism.

2. As a unit, to actively promote awareness of Sikhism through regularly scheduled events and recognition of major religious holidays.

3. In accordance with the Sikh faith, raise funds and volunteer time and resources to charitable organizations in the Unites States and abroad.

Article 3 – Membership

(1) The club’s membership is open to all students at the University. The club’s membership cannot be exclusive and must be open to all undergraduate students;

Article 4 – Executive & Executive Responsibilities

Team meetings shall be conducted on a regular basis that is subject to change.

(1) Club meetings are to take place every week on Friday at 8 PM.

Article 5 – Meetings

(1) The club’s quorum for meetings shall be twenty (20) percent of the total membership.A club’s quorum for meetings cannot be less than twenty (20) percent.

(2) At least three (3) general meetings shall be held during each school year, including the Annual General Meeting, and,

A minimum number of general meetings must be set out that is three (3) or greater. It is important that a definitive number of meetings is not set out, otherwise, the club will be required to hold that number of meetings annually. With a minimum number, more meetings may be held as time and scheduling permits.

Article 6 – Amendments

(1) Any amendments to this constitution must be made in accordance with the constitution amendment provisions as provided and recommended by the University.

Article 7 – Member Removal

(1) Club members may only be removed from the membership in accordance with university policy.

Article 8 – Refund Policy

A refund policy creates accountability within a club. In order to protect a club and a club’s members, the circumstances under which a refund may be obtained may be time sensitive.

(1) Membership fee refunds shall be given in accordance with the membership fee refund provisions of the university.

Article 9 – Conflict Resolution

(1) A club member may only seek assistance or guidance from the LOYOLA UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO student organization staff after the member has been unable to resolve an issue with other club members.

Article 10 – Agency Clause

Clubs are not authorized to enter into contracts or other dealings on behalf of the club or the LOYOLA UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO. Clubs are not permitted to represent to third parties that they have the authority to act on behalf of the LOYOLA UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO. Clubs are not permitted to lead third parties, directly or indirectly, to believe that its beliefs, views or actions represent those of the LOYOLA UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO.

(1) Sikh Students Association is not an agent of the University (the “LOYOLA UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO”), and its views and actions do not represent those held by the University.

(2) Sikh Students Association and its members are not permitted to sign contracts on behalf of the club or the LOYOLA UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO.

Article 11– External Affiliations

The club shall disclose any relationship with external organizations, in accordance with the external affiliation provisions of Clubs Policy: Clubs Operating Policy.

Article 12 - Impeachment

1. Any member of the club who commits an act negatively affecting the interests of the club and its members may be given notice of impeachment.

2. The impeached individual will have the right to defend his/her actions.

3. A two-thirds majority vote of members present will result in the removal of the impeached individual from the club and the loss of any privileges associated with the club.
