ABOUT OUR FOUNDER

Our founder Shri. Seshachalam Chettiar was born in a village, ‘Urumu’of Andhra Pradesh, India, came to Trichy of Tamilnadu in the year, 1946along with his wife Shrimathi. Dhanalakshmi Ammal. Hebecame a cloth merchant and started his business in an elaboratemanner and became wealthy.

He gave everything, his wealth and life for the cause of education. Hiswife gave willingly all the jewels for his noble cause and supported him.He established a Trust in the year 1952 by creating Shri. V.S. ChettiarEducational Trust and he left on 17.11.1953. Our Founder‘s Day iscelebrated on 17.11.1953 in memory of him.

He considered himself as an orphan by living in the orphanage, nearUDV School, Trichy. While constructing UDV School, he consideredhimself as a labourer and he worked along with them. His aborablequalities are honesty, simplicity and empathy towards the poor.Moreover, he is a hard worker, social reformer & a symbol of love.

Our College is located in the outskirts of Trichy, situated in theTrichy - Tanjore National Highway, which is on the way to BHEL. OurCollege, started functioning at SIT in Trichy campus for the first two years(1970-‘72). Subsequently, the college is functioning in its own building, atPappakurichi Village, Kattur, since 1972.

Our College has been accredited with ‘A’ Grade by NAAC (Cycle II) inthe year 2014 for which we are really feel proud.

Lamp : The lamp symbolizes the source of knowledge,wisdom and understanding which is the source of spiritualtranquility.

Lotus : A divine flower, which is the symbol of purity ofthe mind, body and speech, which represents long life,health,honour and good health.

Rocket : This dream symbol of the rocket is a powerfultool to fulfill the life’s of goals and dreams with the help ofmoral spiritual strength to do absolutely anything along withscientific progress.

Star : Star is the luminous point’s of light, embedded inthe night’s darkness. The five pointed star in particular, withits symbolic representation of the twinkling stars, has becomean human microcosm. The words “Bodri Visal” written inTelugu in the emblem is coined based on the mantra, “NamoNarayana “ which our founder used to utter everyday to bringthe celestial source of relationship between teachers andstudents.

1. College Timing : The College begins at 9.50 a.m.and closes at 2.30 p.m with an interval of 30 minutesbetween 12.20 to 12.50 p.m. At the first bell at 9.45a.m students should go to their respective classes.No student should leave the classroom during theclass hours without the permission of the teacher.

2. Attendance : Students should provide leave letter fortheir absence with signature of the parent/guardian.The leave application is available at the office.Application for the leave must be submitted to thePrincipal through the Head of the department. Nostudent should absent himself or herself for cycle testand pre-semester examination.

3. On duty : Students can avail on duty after producingthe requisition form duly signed by the Head of theDepartment and forwarit to the principal.

4. Examination : Student should not indulge in anykind of malpractice in the examination.

5. Switch off Mobile : Mobile phones should be inswitched off mode during college working hours.

6. Dress code : Each student should be neatly dressedin formal attire. The college lays great emphasis ondecent behaviour by preserving our own culture.

7. Identity Card : Every student must wear his / heridentity card within the campus and present it forinspection on demand.

8. Don’t loiter : Student should neither loiter in theverandah nor sit in the stair case or veranoiah duringclass hours. The Student’s should remain silent intheir classroom.

9. Scribbling prohibited : Scribbling on the walls anddesks 15 strictly prohibited. Fine would be collectedfor such damages.

10. Meeting & Agitation : Meeting and agitation of anykind should not be held within the college campus,without prior written permission from the Head of theDepartment and the Principal. No student shall sendany information concerning the college for publicationeither to press or elsewhere without prior approvalfrom the Principal.

11. Right of the Principal : Under the GovernmentEducational rules, the Principal has absolute rightconcerning College to penalize or suspend or dismissany student found guilty or gross misconduct insideor outside the college campus.

12. Struck off Role : The student who is constantlyabsent without leave letter for 15 days or more is liableto be struck off the rolls. He/she will be eligible forattendance only on readmission.

EXAMINATION

♦ Periodical tests, quiz and seminars will be conducted for everysemester for students. Absence from these tests, quiz,seminars andexaminations will be seriously dealt with.The decision taken bycollege council on the basis of any student’s performance will be final.

♦ Students must be prompt in the submission of assignments.Theseassignments will be valued by the teacher concerned and the markswill be duly entered in the register.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION

♦ All students of the first year of the degree classes must receive physi-cal education as laid down by the university. 75% attendance iscompulsary for physical education. If a student has failed to complywith this stipulation, his certificate of attendance will be considered aincomplete.

♦ The Physical Education scheme has been drawn by the college.It fallsinto two parts:

1. Games and Sports

2. Various physical training exercises.

♦ There will be two periods of physical Education,each consisting of 45minutes.

♦ No students will be exempted from physical Education unless he orshe is duly certified by an authorised medical officer to be unfit forphysical education.


ATTENDANCE, LEAVE AND FINES

1. It is the duty of students to come to the College intime.They must be inside the class room before thefinal bell.

2. No student shall absent himself/herself withoutleave obtained from the class teacher. Printedforms of application for leave are available at theoffice. Leave will not be granted for any applicationwhich has not been signed by the class teacher aswell as by the parent or guardian. Application forthe leave must be submitted to the principal. Nostudent shall absent himself or herself for tests andexaminations except for strong and valid reasons.

3. Attendance will be lost for a student, if he/sheabsent himself / herself without leave for a day, halfa day or for a period. Semester attendance andmarks there of for each subject will be awarded bythe concerned Heads of the Department.

4. Habitual late-comers will be dealt with suitably bythe Head of the department.

5. If a student is asleep or remains wilfully inattentivewhen the class is going on, he/she will be punished.

6. Suitable punishment will be imposed for absencefor tests and examination.

7. For the persistent disobedience to teachers, thesevere punishment will be imposed.

8. Punishment for absence without leave letter maybe cancelled by the principal,if the concernedstudent has been really ill and if he on she producedmedical certificate from an authorised medicalofficer.

9. No attendance certificate will be issued to a studentwho fails to secure 75% attendance.

10. If a student absents himself/herself from classescontinuously for 15 days without leave letter andvalid reason, his / her name will be removed fromthe rolls.

Library Rules

1. The Library will be kept open on all working daysbetween 8.30 am to 5.30 p.m.

2. All students of the college are entitled to borrowbooks from the college library.

3. Strict silence should be observed inthe readingrooms of the library.

4. Faculty and students can borrow and return thelibrary books using their bar coded indentity cards.Books will be issued only on presentation of theIdenti ty card bearing the name, number andsignature of the student.


5. In case the card is lost, the Librarian should beinformed of the fact at once, failing which the ownerof the card will be responsible for the books issuedon presentation of that card. A lost card may bereplaced with a duplicate. Damaged library cardswill be replaced with new library cards.

6. The book should be returned on or before the duedate which is marked on the last page of all librarybooks. Failure to return the books in time will entaila fine of Rs.1/- per book per day. Sundays andother holidays are excluded.

7. Readers must, on receving a book, examine it, andreport to the library assistant any damage foundtherein. If they fail to do so, they will be heldresponsible for any damage that may be detectedlater.

8. The Librarian may recall any book at any time evenbefore the expiry date of the normal period of loan.

9. The Library will be kept open during vacation onspecified days which will be announced just beforethe commencement of each vacation.

10. Students can make use of the Photocopying facilityavailable in the Central library.

11. Library tickets should be returned to the Librarianat the end of the final semester.
