UAS and UAM Research in the UK Perspective from the CAATechnical interchange meeting (TIM) on unmanned aerial systems and urban air mobility, November 2020
The CAA Innovation Hub
Creating an environment where innovation in aviation can be
explored and flourish in line with CAA core principles
The CAA Innovation Hub offers three services
to make it easier for innovators to access CAA expertise, guidance, and viewpoints on regulations by providing a focal point of contact and information
to maximise regulatory readiness for the trial of innovative concepts by testing them in safe environments and learning how they address regulatory challenges
to accelerate the development of new policies and regulations by anticipating regulatory challenges in areas of innovation and defining the requirements for new policies and regulations

Automated & Autonomous Systems
The CAA Innovation Hub is exploring a range of innovation themes that will contribute to shaping the future of UAS and UAM
Accelerating the development of new policies and regulations by anticipating regulatory challenges in areas of innovation and defining the requirements for new policies and regulations
Regulatory Lab.
We have put together an initial list of Regulatory Questions to explore which changes in regulations and approval mechanisms may be required• Aircraft• Ground Infrastructures • Airspace & Air Traffic Management• Aviation Security• Licenses• Training• Consumer• Environment• Societal impact
UAM / Future Air Mobility - Regulatory Challenges
The Detect And Avoid (DAA) Ecosystem functions have the potential to demand complex technological and procedural solutions. The DAA Evidence Framework helps the industry to understand and describe their DAA Solution to use.

UAM and UAS Sandbox projects
We want to learn how your solution addresses our Regulatory Questions. We believe that the quickest way to learn is to run tests in a safe environment that poses no threat to public and airspace users.
