As your Director of Athletics and newest member of the UConn family, I am excited to be part of UConn Nation. I am truly fortunate to join a community that is passionate
and supportive of our flagship university and our deserving student-athletes. While we celebrate a storied history of athletic and academic success, I encourage you to help continue this tradition of excellence as we shape a bright future together.
On behalf of the Division of Athletics and our more than 700 student-athletes who proudly wear the Husky uniform, I want to thank you for your generosity. Your support enables our student-athletes to succeed in the classroom, in competition and in the community. We strive every day to ensure that our student-athletes have the best experiences here at UConn. I hope you take great pride in all of their accomplishments.
There are several rewarding opportunities available to you to help solidify UConn’s place among the nation’s elite universities. We are literally changing the landscape of UConn Athletics with renovations planned for new soccer, baseball and softball stadiums. We are excited that more than $12 million has been
committed toward our $25 million philanthropic goal for these projects, but we need your help in making them a reality.
Additionally, the need for scholarship support is paramount as we continue to recruit the best and brightest students. Last year, the Division of Athletics provided more than $13 million in scholarship and financial aid assistance. However, philanthropic support accounted for $6.3 million toward that number. Your commitment will go a long way in helping us provide an exceptional educational opportunity for our student-athletes.
As we work to build upon our accomplishments, it is important that we have the resources necessary to maintain championship success. UConn Athletics is pleased to introduce the online availability of Seats3D and Seat Relocation Management System (SRMS) starting in 2017.
Seats3D will allow users to see a virtual rendering from any section and row inside the stadium. Fans can rotate the view in all directions and zoom in and out from that location.
The SRMS utilizes Seats 3D and will allow ticket holders to preview individual seat availability online and make their
selections in priority order from the convenience of their home or office. The process is efficient and secure, whether you are choosing new seats or upgrading current seats. Fans no longer have to describe their requested exchanges in writing and wait to receive their tickets to see the location.
This new process that will give ticket holders more choices and allow you to be more involved in the seating process. This new online ticketing system will streamline the seat-selection process, while cutting the response time from months to minutes.

ENDOWMENTS The UConn athletic endowment program represents a long-term solution to keeping pace with escalating scholarship costs and to provide the resources to ensure our student athletes receive the best coaching.
This program allows friends of UConn Athletics to invest in the educational opportunities of UConn student-athletes and its coaches. The Division of Athletics uses the priority point system in an effort to fairly allocate seats to current donors. The system is designed to acknowledge both consistent annual giving (through retention of permanent points) and current year giving (through bonus points).
Points and/or season tickets may not be transferred from one person to another or from one account to another. Also, the University does not transfer points or tickets by the virtue of wills. In the event of the death of an account holder or season ticket holder, the surviving spouse (the definition of spouse is consistent with applicable federal law) retains the points, providing that the surviving spouse is on the account at the time of death.
Annual pledges/donations earn three types of priority points; permanent points, bonus points (for non-football/basketball seat donations), and membership points.
PERMANENT POINTS1 permanent point is earned for every $100 pledged/donated to UConn Athletics. Permanent points are awarded for football and basketball seat donations. Permanent points accrue and are cumulative.
BONUS POINTS1 bonus point is earned for every $100 pledged/donated to UConn Athletics. Bonus points are temporary points for the pledge year only (not cumulative). Bonus points are not rewarded for football or basketball seat donations.
At the end of each pledge year (March 31), bonus points are removed from the donor account.
MEMBERSHIP POINTS2 membership points are earned each pledge year (with a minimum annual donation of $100). Membership points accrue and are cumulative.
Example: A new member making a $5,000 pledge/donation in a pledge year, based on the priority point calculation formula:
$5,000 Pledge/Donation Yields:• 50 Permanent Points• 50 Bonus Points (not for football/basketball seat donations)• 2 Membership Points• 102 Total priority points earned for the pledge year; and 52
points will carry forward into the new pledge year

BASKETBALLYou may order as many season tickets as desired. Assignment of seat locations takes place annually. However, the number of seats guaranteed together will be based on current donor level. Seating allocations will be determined by priority points.

BASKETBALL SEATING GUIDELINESIt is difficult to predetermine seat locations, as it depends on the demand for season tickets and the desirability of sections.
Please review the point total seating charts for 2015-16 basketball season listed on pages 22-23. These are the best indicators of the number of priority points that may be necessary for the 2016-17 season for current donors. Be reminded that while the numbers were accurate for the 2015-16 season, it is difficult to predict the projected point totals for specific seat locations. These are estimated guidelines.
Season ticket holders may make special seating requests in writing on the appropriate ticket application; please detail your request and preferences. We carefully review each request in the context of the priority point system; however we cannot guarantee the ability accommodate every request.
SEASON TICKETSTo receive 2016-17 priority seating privileges, a commitment in support of UConn Athletics must be made according to priority deadlines- April 30 for football and June 30 – for basketball. Seating for all ticket sports is allocated by current membership status and the use of the priority point system.
POST SEASON TICKETS The NCAA/conference provides a limited number of ticket to each participating institution for postseason events. Specific seat locations are determined by the NCAA/conference. UConn endeavors to accommodate as many donors as possible based on the number of tickets we receive from the NCAA/conference. Postseason ticket allocations to current members are by donor category, then by points within that category. Tickets will be distributed based on availability.

MATCHING GIFTSMatching gifts are only accepted from a bona fide employer(s) of the account holder(s). Gifts from friends or other relatives of a donor and/or spouse are not considered matching gifts to the donor/spouse account of record. To determine if your employer matches gifts to UConn Athletics, please contact your company’s human resources department as policies may vary from one company to another.
Please be aware that the employer establishes matching gift guidelines and reserves the right to modify them periodically. Therefore, your company’s matching gift policy may reflect something different now than in past years. The donor is responsible for ensuring that all matching gift funds arrive in a timely fashion. All benefits
from matching gifts including priority points, donor benefits and donor level will not be credited until the matching gift is received.
Matching gifts may not be utilized to fulfill any seat donations and/or be part of a fulfillment to a pledge.
DONOR ADVISED FUNDSGifts made from donor advised funds to support UConn Athletics are welcome. TAX INFORMATION/YOUR TAX DEDUCTIBLE CONTRIBUTION -To maximize the tax deductible portion of your gift, you may decline to receive any benefits when you make your gift to UConn. If you choose to accept your benefits, we are required to inform you that your charitable contribution will be reduced by the value of those benefits.
SEASON TICKETS & SEAT DONATIONS - Donors to UConn Athletics, are entitled to receive preferred seating locations for season tickets purchased for football, men’s soccer, women’s soccer, men’s ice hockey, men’s basketball, or women’s basketball. The cost of tickets is not tax deductible. However, Internal Revenue Code Section 170(l) provides that if a taxpayer makes a payment to or for the benefit of a university and, as a result, receives the right to purchase tickets for seating at an athletic event, he or she is eligible to deduct 80% of his or her contributions for federal tax purposes. Accordingly, all donors who are entitled to purchase tickets with preferred seating and who do not request a waiver of points and benefits (explained below) may be
eligible to deduct only 80% of their contribution for federal income tax purposes.
OTHER BENEFITS - The Internal Revenue Code also addresses benefits (other than priority seating) that a donor may receive as a result of the contribution. A donor may only deduct the amount of a contribution that is more than the value of all benefits received. Car decals, newsletters, and other token items do not reduce the amount eligible for deduction for tax purposes; however, other goods or services a donor receives in consideration for donations, such as those described on page 18, can further reduce deductibility of a gift.
WAIVER OF POINTS AND BENEFITS- In order to deduct 100% of a contribution to UConn Athletics, the donor must submit in writing a waiver of points and benefits at the time of making a pledge and/or contribution. In requesting a waiver of points and benefits, the donor further understands that he or she forfeits priority points and their application as it relates to ticket assignment and allocation; once points and benefits are forfeited, they cannot be credited retroactively to a donor’s account. Only through a waiver of points and benefits is a contribution eligible for 100% tax deduction.
SUBSTANTIATION REQUIREMENTS- As required by the Internal Revenue Service, the UConn Foundation, Inc. will furnish donors with receipts for contributions. Donors should retain their receipts for federal income tax purposes.

NCAA COMPLIANCE INFORMATIONThe University of Connecticut (UConn) is committed to adhering to NCAA rules and regulations. The University is responsible for the conduct of any individual or organization affiliated with the Division of Athletics. As a contributor to UConn Athletics, you are designated as a representative of athletic interests or a “rep” or a “booster” by the NCAA and thus are responsible for adhering to NCAA regulations. According to NCAA Bylaw 6.4.2.1, UConn must inform any individual or organization that receives benefits or privileges relating to the athletics program that such benefits may be withheld if the individual or organization engages in conduct that is determined to be a violation of NCAA regulations.
UConn values your interest and support of the Division of Athletics. Your support and assistance in the area of rules compliance is greatly needed. In order to educate you on NCAA rules and regulations, the Office of Compliance annually distributes an informational brochure entitled “University of Connecticut NCAA Guidebook.” This brochure provides you with a brief summary of the most important NCAA regulations as it pertains to representatives’ relationships with prospective and current student-athletes. The Division of Athletics abides by the fundamental rule of thumb that one should ask before acting, so please contact us with any questions.
