UGI launched a pilot program to assess the potential of cross bores within the gas distribution system. A cross bore occurs when a natural gas line is installed using

trenchless technologies and inadvertently intersects with another underground line such as a sewer line. Larry Stinson, Manager – Claims and System Integrity Projects, left, surveys an inspection in a Lancaster County development. A budget for continuing the program has been developed for 2015.

UGI is focused on keeping customers, communities and employees safe. A major effort involves the safety of natural gas

transported through UGI pipelines, as well as integrity of pipeline equipment. Employees Chet Wentz, left, and Dan Huegel, who both gained PE (Professional Engineer) certification during 2014, tackle both issues. Dan heads UGI materials inventory and confers with Chet over the best, safest pipe valves and fittings.
