SPRINGER NATURE | USER EXPERIENCE DESIGNER | JAN 2015 - JUL 2016

Within my previous position I was one of the Lead User Experience Designers for Springer Nature and work as an embedded UX practitioner within 3 core teams; Content Discovery. Content Promotion and Content Presentation. It is my responsibility to work with the product office and technical teams ensuring that we as a UX&D team, are focusing our efforts in the right areas and creating the best experience for our users

To do this, I work closely with the UX Researchers and Designers to help create and facilitate tests, compile To do this, I work closely with the UX Researchers and Designers to help create and facilitate tests, compile reports and then feedback the results into my teams, this ensures we shape our products around the needs of the user. I also like to actively participate in a lot of live testing and have been working very closely with the technical teams not only to show them the benefits of regular optimization tests, but to ensure that test-ing becomes second nature to the team ensuring we run at the very least one per sprint.

The most recent project I worked on was leading the design and development of our online visual language that not only influences and updates the websites UXD, but also enables our team to work more effectively and consistently moving forward. The main goal was to create a language that helped to explain and sup-port our design decisions and patterns providing the product office and other stakeholders the opportunity to view user feedback.

THOMAS COOK | USER EXPERIENCE DESIGNER | MAY 2012 - DEC 2014

Whilst at Thomas Cook my main responsibilities were to manage the work stream and growth of a small team of designers and researchers ensuring we delivered high end and highly engaging web pages

It was one of the largest projects we had ever undertaken and it required an enormous amount of work, dedication and co-ordination to ensure it was delivered on time and most importantly, that it increased customer engagement and conversion. We needed to ensure we not only created a good product for our users but also some thing that made more technical sense, something that was more re-us-able across our varying markets. The use of a more modular approach allowed us to move much faster to market allowing our business to grow at a much faster rate

I worked on their first ever mobile application and also led the discussion from a design perspective on moving towards a responsive platform. We also ran regular hack sessions and site spikes letting us move products through production and to the user alot faster.

UI/UX WEBSITE DESIGNERJAMIE POW

I am a passionate UI/UX designer whose primary focus is always creating the best possible experience for users by using feedback and testing to ensure the sites I work on are designed tailored to their individual needs.

Throughout my career I have developed and maintained the ability to work on my own initiative maintained the ability to work on my own initiative whilst also considering myself a strong team player. I love working collaboratively not only with other designers, but also with product owners and technical teams ensuring we work in the most agile and cost effective way delivering the best possible products.

I have an extremely inquisitive nature and am always trying to stay ahead of the latest trends and keep up to date with the recent techniques. I'm particularly interested in not just what users do, but why they do it and the ways in which we can influence their experiences with design.

Optimization and testing is key in getting the best Optimization and testing is key in getting the best results; this is something I strongly believe and if it's not included in the daily work when I join a company, I embed this process at the earliest opportunity.

EXPERIENCE

SELFRIDGES | USER EXPERIENCE MANAGER | AUG 2016 - CURRENT

I am currently the UX manager at Selfridges where my key role is to lead and develop the growth of a small function whilst making improvements to all of our digital channels.

My main focus has been leading UX requirements within our project roadmap, supporting the project office, ensuring user experience was always at the heart of deliverables.

Bookings & Appointments:I lead the design & development. of our online booking system & service hub which contains over 250 I lead the design & development. of our online booking system & service hub which contains over 250 pages. The project itself was initiated to enable team members to book service appointments in-store such as beauty appointments or a table our one of our restaurants with greater ease. Initially the project was only focused on creating the necessary booking’s portal but I decided look at the overall customer journey, we then used the findings to create a customer friendly service hub on our website which will make it far easier for customers to find the services they are interested, provide more engaging content and allow them to book with ease. As part of the project I undertook research, analysed data, created customer jourthem to book with ease. As part of the project I undertook research, analysed data, created customer jour-ney maps and sitemaps, worked on wireframes which we then tested with customers, created visual de-signs, sourced all of the relevant content and have helped plan the development of the pages.

Local Languages:Selfridges has always been focussed on both domestic and international customers, so one of our big initia-tives last year was to add local languages to our website to enable customers to browse and shop with greater ease. For this project I created customer journey’s based on our business requirements and techni-cal capabilities.

Mobile Apps:The mobile apps project has been one of the more exciting projects I’ve been involved with, since I joined the business I’ve worked closely with the business to not only make small UX improvements to our current app’s but also considered our bigger aspirations to help shape the future of our apps. I supported in the de-livery of our first Android app, and since have taken both the iOS & Android applications under my remit. I am currently working on a re-design of both apps which will include a variety of new features, aimed at providing the best digital experience to our customers and also helping to bridge the gap between our digi-tal and physical store experiences. As part of this project I have analysed data, created customer journey maps and sitemaps, worked on wireframes which we then tested with customers, created visual designs, made improvements to our CMS to enable team members to work more effectively and launched a A/B testing framework.

Style Guide / Visual Language Guide:As a team project I have lead key areas of the design and development of our visual language guide which was designed to help us not only create a much more consistent experience online, but also one that is much more considered. Everything we deliver should be able to be explained, whether that be because it’s a brand requirement or customer expectation it should be documented.

Plus a mixture of other exciting projects & BAU.

I have also become the customer champion, ensuring every project we undertake also has the customers requirements & expectations at its core, whilst also considering the business objectives and branding.

I have focused on developing our testing roadmap as well as our testing methods, looking into new ways we I have focused on developing our testing roadmap as well as our testing methods, looking into new ways we could connect with our customers in a much more cost effective way. These have consisted of digital tools that allow us to visually connect with a larger number of customers, gorilla testing in our offices and stores, and then finally by creating our own UX testing lab.

I will then be looking into the other ways that we collect insight to connect us all together and create and shared vision and goal, enabling to create a shared roadmap and deeper insights.
