The united kingdom is a parliamentarydemocracy with a constitutional Monarch.

In a monarchy, the king or queen is thehead of state, and a prime minister is thehead of government.

One of the most noticeable features of the Westminster system is strong bipartisanship assigned to the opposition leader a strong role as chairman of the Shadow Cabinet, whose members specialize in opposition to each of the executive departments.

Constitution.The UK does not have a document that serves as a constitution fully defined,

The constitution of the United Kingdom thus consists mostly of a collection of different written sources, including laws, statutes, jurisprudences and international treaties.

However, there are limitations to the adoption of the laws, for example, no legislature can make laws that can not be changed in the future.

The monarch and government.The United Kingdom´smonarchy isconsedered the oldestof all modernconstitutionalmonarchies.

Most of the power once exercised by the monarch have now been devolved to ministers.

The Queen performs a range important duties, such as summoning and dissolving Parliament and giving royal assent to legislation passed by the UK Parliament(786 vs650), the Scottish Parliament, the National Assembly for Wales or the Northern Ireland Assembly.

The Queen formally appoints important office holders that include the prime minister and other government ministers, judges, officers in the armed forces, governors, diplomats, bishops and some other senior clergy of the church of England. She also grants peerages, knighthood and other honors.

The privy council and otherwork.A privy council is a body that advises the head of state of a nation, especially in a monarchy. The Privy Council was thus originally a committee of the monarch's closest advisors, who could give confidential advice on affairs of state.

The privy council was formerly the chief source of executive power in the state, but as the system of cabinet government developed in the 18th century, the cabinet took on much of its role.There are about 500 privy counselors, whose appointments are for life. The privy council consist of all members of the cabinet, other senior politicians, judges and some individuals from the Commonwealth. Only members of the government of the day play any part in its policy work. The prime minister recommends new members of the Privy Council to the sovereign.

Queen Elizabeth II and theRoyal family.Born in london on april 21 , 1926 (the great-great-granddaughter of queen Victoria who government almost 64 years, 1837-1901), Elizabeth became Queen at the age of 25, on the death of her father, King George VI. She is the 40th monarch since William the Conquerer.

Elizabeth II was crowned on june 2, 1953 in Westminster Abbey, despite having acceded to the throne on february 6, 1952 when her father died.Since the moment she

assumed the thronedecided to be crowned as Elizabeth II (her real nameis Elizabeth Alexandra Mary). Has reigned theUnited Kingdom for 60 years.

Elizabeth is merried(November 20, 1947) toPrince Philippe, Duke of Edimburg and they havebeen married for 65 years. He is 92 yearsold, Isabel 86 years oldand both have a goodhealth.
