Проповідь на Святих Першоверховних

Апостолів Петра і Павла

Велика є слава всіх апостолів у Царстві Небесному, бо Сам Ісус Христос обіцяв їм високу нагороду та вічне

щастя у Небі.

Коли ж апостол Петро від імені всіх учнів якось запитав Христа: “Ось ми покинули все й пішли за тобою; що

будемо за те мати?” Ісус відповів їм: “Істинно кажу вам: Ви, що пішли за Мною: як новий світ настане, коли Син

Чоловічий сяде на престолі своєї слави, сидітимете й ви на дванадцятьох престолах, щоб судити дванадцять

поколінь Ізраїля. І кожний, хто задля імени Мого покине дім, братів, сестер, батька, матір, жінку, дітей, поля, в

сто раз більше одержить і життя вічне матиме в спадщину” (Мф. 19, 27 - 29).

Отже, при відновленні світу, у той день слави, з'являться разом з Ісусом Христос і дванадцять апостолів, щоб

узяти участь у суді воскреслих із мертвих синів Адама. Однак між тими преславними апостолами є два, які

засяяли особливим відблиском. Їх Свята Церква називає першоверховними апостолами, а також учителями

Всесвіту. Це святі апостоли Петро і Павло, день пам'яті яких ми нині святкуємо...

Сьогодні ми відзначаємо велике свято нашої віри і Матері-Церкви, бо сьогодні пам'ять її найбільших синів, через

яких свята віра наша поширилась і заснувались Церковні громади у всьому світі. Це ж вони, благовісники,

обійшли весь світ, виконуючи заповіт Божественного Учителя: “Ідіть же по всьому світу та проповідуйте Єван-

гелію всякому творінню” (Мк. 16, 15). І ми тепер сміливо можемо сказати, що «По всій землі розійшлося

віщування їх, і в кінці вселенної слова їх.» (Пс. 18, 5). Не тільки обійшли вони з проповіддю святу землю, але нині

й до кінця віку по всьому світі проповідується слово, яке вони залишили у своїх богонатхненних посланнях, у

яких дається вичерпна і спасенна відповідь на будь - яке запитання віруючої душі.

І досі продовжується їхня спадкоємність у Христовій Церкві. Тому недаремно свята Церква у своїх похвальних

піснеспівах, звеличуючи святих апостолів Петра і Павла, підносить їх перед нами, співаючи їм: «Величаємо вас,

апостоли Христові Петре і Павле, що весь світ ученням своїм просвітили і всі кінці землі до Христа привели».

Отже, і ми, йдучи за покликом святої Церкви, схиляємось перед пам'яттю великих апостолів і побожно величаємо

їх у молитвах.

Таким чином, вірні християни у цей день пам’яті великих синів Христової Церкви можуть не тільки виявити

побожну пошану святим апостолам, але і наслідувати їх у благовісті вчення Христового своїм побожним

християнським життям, дбати про славу Божу і спасіння своєї душі, проживати у християнських чеснотах,

шанувати своїх пастирів і молитися за них і за Церкву Христову, яку на твердій підвалині самого Ісуса Христа,

Спасителя світу, будували святі першоверховні апостоли.

Кожний із нас нехай сьогодні зрозуміє, що будь - яку цінність у житті, матеріальну і духовну, зовнішню чи

внутрішню, потрібно здобувати великим трудом, як це зробили «перші серед апостолів» - святий Петро і апостол

народів святий Павло.

Прийміть же, святі верховні, першопрестольні апостоли Петре і Павле, і від нас, християн двадцять першого віку,

у цей світлий день вашого свята, слова подяки і бажання наслідувати вас у нашому житті і працях, і щоб ми також

колись сподобилися мати місце у Царстві Небесному і з вами повік перебувати, бо немає і не може бути більшої

радості від Царства Божого, обіцяного Христом. А Царство Христове не здобувається легко, бо від днів Івана

Хрестителя й досі Царство Христове здобувається силою, і ті, хто докладає зусилля, здобувають його (Мф. 11,

12).

А ви, «апостолів першопрестольні і Всесвіту учителі», Владику всіх моліть мир усьому світові дарувати і душам

нашим велику милість! Амінь.

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Glory to Jesus Christ!

Before the pandemic arrived, we had values and a philosophy of living. We had habits and hobbies, we practiced

the Christian virtues albeit, sometimes falling short of the expectations. Now, with the virus in full rampage mode,

with no end yet in sight, our philosophy of living, our values have somewhat narrowed. They have become more

focused. Today we can all say, that of all things to be considered – life and health are the two things that matter

the most – both for ourselves and for those that we love.

As I have mentioned before not material things, but relationships are the most important, and today we have in

truth become our brother’s keepers. It is a back and forth thing. It is the mask thing. I wear a mask to keep you

safe. You wear a mask to keep me safe.

As governments slowly prepare to come out of lockdown and to restore some sense of normalcy – that back and

forth thing must take on more urgency this applies, as we begin to prepare the process of restarting our parish life.

The process, slow but methodical, with the health of our faithful its underpinning, and a need for patience, will

take us to the place we all want to be – ie. In our church praying together.

In the meantime, I am still available and will always be to here for you with whatever problems or issues you may

have. Please do not hesitate to call on me.

Let us continue to call upon the Lord’s mercy, compassion, and protection as we proceed.

I expect that this message finds you well, as we continue to deal with the issues we are faced with during this

pandemic. Adhering to the directives we are receiving from our government and our Church are vital in

assuring the safety and continued good health of all.

After due consideration our executive along with Fr. Makarenko determined that there is much that needs our

attention before we open our Church. This is explained in detail in the letter you received this past week and

is included in this bulletin as well. Your executive is meeting regularly to discuss the current situation and plan

for our future.

Thank you for your continued support and your donations. Your thoughtfulness is greatly appreciated. Thank

you as well to our executive members who continue to deal with the current issues relative to our Parish, to all

who are in any way assisting in carrying us through the current situation, and as well, to those assisting at

Good Shepherd. Your dedication is greatly valued and appreciated.

СІХ!

Шановні Парафіяни і Прихильники,

Ваша Церковна управа разом із о. Макаренко серйозно розглянула всі питання, які впливають на

відкриття нашої Церкви. Після розгляду, наше спільне рішення є, що в цей час ми не будемо

відкривати нашу Церкву.

Головні причини – не тільки безпека і благополуччя наших парафіян, прихильників і учасників,

але безпека нашого священика, і всіх тих, які допомагають в будь-який спосіб під час Служб. В

цей час ми перевіраємо всі вимоги подані нам нашим Урядом і нашою Консисторією.

Отож управа продовжує переглядати всі питання, які впливатимуть на відкриття Церкви і працює

над планом, який забезпечить всіх. Директиви, які ми отримали від Уряду та Консисторії, є дуже

строгі та детальні і вимагають відповідного планування. Питання, які розглядаються - згадуюче

лише декілька, включають: процес безпеки учасників; повідомлення та відповіді учасників;

призначення місць; ретельну підготовку, включаючи прибрання церкви перед і після Служб;

процес входу і виходу до Церкви та інші важливі питання.

Ми продовжуємо розробляти план на відкриття, який буде безпечний для всіх. Ми відкриємо

Церкву тоді коли ми будемо певні, що всі питання щодо безпеки будуть відповідно і належно

розглянуті. Як тільки наш план буде готовий, ми будемо просити волонтерів для різних дій, які

вимагають нашої уваги.

Будемо на звязку з Вами підчас вироблення нашого плану. Між часі будемо продовжувати

готовити і подавати Вам записи наших Літиргій і спеціальних Служб.

Ми просимо Вас триматися безпечними і здоровими та продовжувати дотримуватися даних

вимог.

CIX!

Dear Parishioners and Supporters,

Your executive along with Fr. Makarenko has seriously considered all the issues that would impact the reopening of

our Church. After due consideration our collective decision is that we will not be opening our Church at this time. Our primary concern is not only the safety and well-being of our parishioners, supporters, and attendees, but the

well-being of our priest, and all those who assist in any way during the Services. We are presently contemplating the

many detailed and complex requirements set out by our Government and our Church.

Our Parish executive continues to review all the issues that would impact the opening and is working on a plan that

will provide safety and security for all. The directives we have received from the Government and the UOCC

Consistory are very strict and detailed and require appropriate planning and consideration. The issues that are being

considered, to mention just a few, include: a process for the safety of attendees; notifications and responses; seating

arrangements; thorough preparations including cleaning of facilities before, after and during services; entrance and

leaving protocol and other vital related issues.

We are continuing to develop a re-opening plan that will provide safety and security for all. We will plan for

reopening when we feel assured and confident that all issues relative to the safety and security of all have been

thoroughly reviewed and dealt with appropriately. Once our plan is in place, we will be asking for volunteers for the

various areas that require our attention.

We will keep you informed as our plans progress. In the meantime, we will continue providing you with a recording

of our Liturgies and Special Services.

We implore you to stay safe and healthy and continue to follow the required protocol. Our thoughts and prayers are

with you always.

GOOD SHEPHERD VOLUNTEERS

While the hot meal program is still suspended at the Good Shepherd so we are not able to volunteer there as we

usually do, there is still a great need for volunteers to help sort the mountain of food donations they have received,

particularly during this period when the public has been donating even more generously.

This volunteer opportunity respects social distancing and PPE measures. Groups of 3 to 4 work together, masked and

gloved, in an area free from any other personal interaction. Shifts are 3 hours, morning or afternoon. All are welcome

and youth are particularly encouraged. Volunteers are currently needed for Monday mornings 9-12, Friday

afternoons 1-4, and Wednesdays morning or afternoon.

Speaking of generosity, the Good Shepherd expresses their deep gratitude to our parish for our recent $500 donation

towards meeting the increasing needs in our own neighbourhood, especially during this strained time of pandemic.
