Pressure Regulating Valves
Model 30 PR\ULFire Protection Div.
General description
Dorot Series 300 valves are automatic, hydraulically actuated, diaphragm operated, globe and angle pattern control valves. The valves are designed for use in fire protection applications including deluge, pre-action, pressure control, water, foam and seawater fire protection systems. The valves consist of three major components: the body, the cover and the internal trim assembly.
2
Operation modes
30-PR\UL Unique designThe Dorot valve model 30-PR\UL is a pilot-controlled, pressure-reducing valve, actuated by the pipeline pressure. The valve accurately regulates to a steady preset downstream pressure, down to near-zero flow rates, regardless of upstream pressure fluctuations and valve-size. In case of excessive downstream pressure, the valve closes drip tight. The valve’s unique design eliminates the need for a special low flow plug-design (such as V or U-ports), or the installation of additional smaller-sized bypass valves. The valve’s low-friction internal-trim design utilizes an LTP® (Linear Throttling Plug) guide and a pre-shaped reinforced diaphragm. The standard and simple single-chamber valve allows easier assembly, improved longevity and reduces periodic inspections and maintenance. When required, maintenance is easily done on-site and in-line.
Design considerations• The valve should be suited to the maximal designed flow and allowed head loss.• For added safety, installing a downstream pressure relief valve (30-PS\UL, 77-PS\UL or 44-PS\UL) is highly
recommended as common market practice.• Large pressure differentials may cause cavitation damage. Consult Dorot for unique solutions if such
conditions are expected.

Ordering guide
The Pressure Reducing Valve shall be UL Listed for Special System Water Control Valves, Pressure-reducing and Pressure-control Type (VLMT).The valve shall maintain a constant predetermined downstream pressure regardless of fluctuations in upstream pressure or flow.Maintenance, disassembly and reassembly of all the valve’s components shall be made possible on site and in-line, without the need to remove the valve from the line. No by-passes or hourglass-shaped disc retainers shall be permitted and no V-type, U-type or other slotted type disc guides shall be used. The valve shall contain a fabric reinforced rubber diaphragm elastic & resilient through its entire surface without vulcanized radial discs. The seat shall be stainless-steel and interchangeable. The Valve will be factory trimmed, tested and calibrated to downstream pressure of 165 psi as UL standard or other pressure setting up to 360 psi (2”- 8”) or 285 psi (10”- 12”). Change of factory preset pressure setting can be done at all times, in-line with no special tools or system down time following simple IOM instructions.Standard material valves as Ductile Iron ASTM A-536 65-45-12 and/or Cast Steel WCB A-216 should be coated by high built fusion bonded epoxy (FBE) with an external polyester/polyurethane UV protective topcoat conforming to corrosion protection standard EN12944 C4-C5 & C5M grades. Other valve materials as austenitic Stainless steel s, Nickel Aluminum Bronze ASTM B-148 can be coated with specific coatings.
