—Enabling a stronger, smarter and greener gridApplications in several areas of the power value chain

ABB is a pioneering technology leader in power grids, electrification products, industrial automa-tion and robotics and motion, serving customers in utilities, industry and transport & infrastruc-ture globally. Continuing a history of innovation spanning more than 130 years, ABB today is writ-ing the future of industrial digitalization with two clear value propositions: bringing electricity from any power plant to any plug and automating industries from natural resources to finished products. As title partner in ABB Formula E, the fully electric international FIA motorsport class, ABB is pushing the boundaries of e-mobility to contribute to a sustainable future. ABB operates in more than 100 countries with about 147,000 employees.

ABB offers a wide range of products from 208 V up to 1200 kV that help enhance the reliability, ef-ficiency and quality of power in transmission and distribution grids, power plants and industries

while minimizing environmental impact. The wide product range is complemented by a comprehen-sive service offering.

Power quality is a major concern for transmission and distribution utilities, industries, and trans-port and infrastructure sectors. Poor power qual-ity affects grid reliability, productivity, leads to higher operating costs and penalties for non-compliance with grid codes. ABB is a tech-nology leader with a wide range of products, sys-tems and services that improve power quality in-cluding capacitors and filters, power electronics-based compensators and software solutions, across the power value chain for low, medium and high-voltage applications, helping to shape a stronger, smarter and greener grid.

—Instantaneous and ultra-fast stepless reactive power compensator PQCR from ABB has been present in the market for more than 15 years, providing instantaneous, ultra-fast and stepless reactive power for critical industrial and commercial applications, and solving voltage drop problems due to load current variations. It makes installa-tions compliant with prevailing power factor regulations by dynamic reactive power compensation and load unbalance compensation. The new PQdynaC encompasses all these benefits with additional features such as flexibility, modularity and improved efficiency for applications which are suffering from poor power quality due to fast varying loads. Optionally, a limited harmonic filtering function can be obtained.

76 FEATURES AND BENEFITS | COMPREHENSIVE PORTFOLIO 7PQDYNAC HIGH SPEED, FLEXIBILITY AND MODULARITY

Fast reactive power compensation:The new generation PQdynaC can be used for ap-plications requiring instantaneous, ultra-fast and stepless reactive power compensation. Capaci-tive and inductive compensation can be provided and is automatically adjusted depending on the need of the load. It limits the high reactive cur-rents in the supply network, and also minimizes rapid voltage fluctuations caused by reactive load variations. Examples of networks benefiting from fast reactive power compensation are networks feeding loads like:• Elevators, lifts• Traction loads• Welding loads• Crane loads• Loads fed by weak networks

Active harmonic filtering:New generation PQdynaC is available in a version (PQdynaC+) that incorporates limited active

—Enhancing power quality of your electrical networkFeatures and benefits

—Transient free power factor compensationComprehensive portfolio to suit all requirements

harmonic filtering of harmonics up to the 13th or-der, providing an efficient solution for customers that have a need for both fast reactive power compensation and limited harmonic filtering.

Load balancing:PQdynaC can also be used to balance loads, en-suring that the supply system is loaded evenly even if the loads are burdening the phases of the supply network in a non-balanced way, which is the case for loads like railway lines, welding sup-ply feeders, etc.

Enhanced communication features:Wi-Fi enabled modules allow users to monitor and set parameters via smartphone or computer.

The optional 7-inch user-friendly HMI interface of-fers direct access to the equipment controls for parameter setting and system monitoring.

New generation PQdynaC is offered in 3 different module ratings of 30 kvar, 75 kvar and 100 kvar. The modules can be obtained individu-ally, or can be supplied in a wall-mount or cabinet type solution.
