UNI-SOLAR - Introduction -
Who Is UNI-SOLAR? UNI-SOLAR is an industry leading manufacturer of thin film solar panels. Their revolutionary technology has numerous advantages over crystalline silicon solar panels. Unlike crystalline solar panels, thin film panels are flexible, extremely low profile, lightweight, and are able to bond directly to a steel roof or membrane surface which make them ideal for roof installations.
UNI-SOLAR’s lightweight, roof-friendly solar solutions provide exceptional value when you encounter:
Low load roofs needing a lightweight solar solution Rooftops requiring a building integrated solar solution with no roof penetrations Standing seam metal roofs which match well with our solar PV laminates resulting in reduced installation costs by eliminating metal racking Newer membrane roofs that can have our PV laminate directly bonded, with the added benefit of life extension via UV/weather protection Re-roofs of older membrane or modified bitumen roofs that, with our PV laminates added as part of the project In our northern climates where our amorphous silicon performs better in obscured and diffused sunlight, and during hot conditions benefit from our flatter temperature coefficient
UNI-SOLAR PowerBond - Introduction -
What Is PowerBond? PowerBond is a lightweight (only 0.75 lbs/sqft) flexible thin film solar panel manufactured in LaSalle, Ontario by UNI-SOLAR which qualifies PowerBond for use in Ontario's Feed-in Tariff program. It is able to bond directly to metal or membrane substrates.
Who Should Install UNI-SOLAR? Community centers and arenas
Buildings which have standing seam roofs (most metal roof industrial buildings)
Buildings with flat or membrane roofs such as warehouses, manufacturing plants, etc
Not All Solar Systems Are Equal Certain PV products are suitable only in certain conditions. Crystalline PV modules utilize heavy duty aluminum frames and glass to encase the crystalline silicon cells. They also require aluminum racking and penetrating fasteners to secure the PV system to the roof structure. This not only adds up to a lot of unnecessary weight, but penetrating a commercial roof membrane creates a point for water entry and it may also void the roof's warranty. Some roofs, such as flat roofs typically cannot sustain large additional loads. UNI-SOLAR PowerBond thin film solar panels are able to bond directly to standing seam metal roofs or modified bitumen membranes which eliminates the need for heavy, expensive metal racking.

Notes:1. During the first 8-10 weeks of operation, electrical output exceeds specified ratings.
Power output may be higher by 15%, operating voltage may be higher by 8%, and operating current may be higher by 7%, Voc may be higher by 4% and Isc may be higher by 2%.
2. Production tolerance for Pmax at standard test conditions (STC) is +/-5% and for other electrical parameters is +/-10%. Electrical specifications are based on measurements performed at STC of 1000 W/m2, AM1.5 and cell temperature of 25°C (per ASTM E892) after long-term stabilization. Actual performance may vary up to 10% from rated power due to low temperature operation, spectral and other related effects. Maximum system open-circuit voltage not to exceed 600 VDC per UL, 1000 VDC per IEC regulations.

In the solar business today, system purchases are made on a dollar-per-watt or Euro-per-watt basis. But, the return on investment (ROI) or payback period is determined by the amount of electricity, in kWh, the system produces. Third party testing, in real world conditions, shows that UNI-SOLAR produces more energy for your purchased watt, and, therefore, provides the best return on investment.
This third party testing, conducted over a number of years, shows the long-term reliability and performance of the UNI-SOLAR product. This type of proof is something no other flex-ible photovoltaic manufacturer can provide.
Each UNI-SOLAR laminate utilizes unique triple-junction amor-phous silicon solar cells, where the blue, green and red light of the sun is absorbed in different layers of the cell. This technol-ogy results in better performance in low and diffuse light condi-tions.
By-pass diodes are connected across each cell, allowing the modules to produce power even when partially shaded or soiled.

Yield in function of module temperature,Urbino, Central Italy (2003-2004)
UNI-SOLAR® laminates provide better energy yield at high temperatures. Today, all solar products are rated based on standard test conditions. In real outdoor conditions, cell temperatures increase with increased solar irradiation, reaching levels much high-er than standard test conditions. Crystalline silicon modules experience a significant decline in kWh output at high temperature, while UNI-SOLAR laminates do not. As a result, UNI-SOLAR laminates produce more energy when you need it most.

In many locations worldwide, independent third party businesses and institutions collect data on several different photovoltaic systems. This real world data demonstrates the superior energy production of UNI-SOLAR laminates in high temperatures, low light levels, and shading. Below are three examples of this data from locations in Tucson, Arizona, USA; Frankenberg, Bolzano, Northern Italy; and Santa Cruz, California, USA. In each location, UNI-SOLAR outperforms competitive products by producing more kilowatt-hours of energy per kilowatt installed.

UNI-SOLAR PowerTilt - Introduction -
What is PowerTilt? UNI-SOLAR PowerTilt is a revolutionary lightweight and low profile alternative to traditional ballasted crystalline silicon solar arrays. PowerTilt reduces the overall system weight by up to 43%. The PowerTilt array produces a distributed load of only 2.06 lbs/sqft where crystalline arrays produce loads in excess of 3.6 lbs/sqft. The array height is significantly reduced by this system which reduces the wind load and the amount of ballast necessary to secure the array. PowerTilt also produces more energy in real world conditions than crystalline modules. PowerTilt's simple design also reduces installation labour resulting in high ROI.
Who Should Install PowerTilt? Install on any flat roof building such as warehouses, manufacturing plants, government facilities, schools, commercial offices, etc. Particularly effective on buildings with low load tolerance.
