Predecir es opinar que algo va a suceder de una determinada manera en el futuro. En las predicciones con el auxiliar will que acabamos de ver, ex-presamos meramente un deseo futuro, basado en nuestra creencia, no en una evidencia inmediata.

Fíjate en las siguientes palabras, que se utilizan para atenuar la certeza de lo que estamos prediciendo.

Cuando queremos hacer una predicción acerca de algo que tenemos la certeza de que va a ocurrir porque hay una evidencia visual que nos hace estar más seguros, usamos going to:

En la oración en la que se usa el auxiliar will, estamos meramente dando una opinión de algo que puede ocurrir, porque, por lo general, si alguien trepa un árbol muy alto puede caerse.

En cambio, en la oración en la que se usa going to, estamos viendo que la rama sobre la que se ha trepado el niño está a punto de romperse.

Lee otros ejemplos de predicciones con going to:

El primer sonido no tiene equivalente en español y resulta muchas veces difícil de pronunciar. Generalmente aparece en palabras que se escriben con j, g, -dge, y -ge.

El segundo sonido, en cambio, es muy parecido al sonido /ch/ como el de la letra “ch” en español. Escucha el sonido al comienzo y en el medio de las siguientes palabras y repite.
