unity update - center of unity...

Dear Friends, This month we celebrate freedom as a naon. In Unity, the power for July is Understanding, the faculty we’ll focus on in our Sunday services. The combinaon of these two, freedom and understanding, couldn’t be more perfect. Martha Smock in Listen, Beloved, writes this about freedom: “The freedom to be, to be all that God created you to be, is yours, not someday but now. Do not put off your freedom by thinking that you can be free only if some condion changes, or if some person changes, or by thinking that you cannot be free ll the children are grown or the bills are paid.” I believe it is when we understand that we have the wonderful giſt of choice that we begin to live a life of freedom. Are you happy? Are you peaceful? Is your life filled with love? If the answer to any of these quesons is no, understand that you have a choice! You are free to choose life, love, peace, joy, abundance right now. You do not have to put off the good in life for some perceived “perfect moment.” There is no reason to wait for something to change outwardly in order to live as you desire to live today. Our forefathers declared freedom in the midst of uncertainty. They had the courage to step forward in the moment and claim the victory from the English rule in the colonies and they understood their right to demand the good for themselves and for future generaons. We, too, celebrate this Independence Day knowing and understanding that the same courage is available for us right now. God only wants good for us and we can choose to accept that good. Make this Independence Day the day that you free yourself from limitaon and negavity. Make this the Independence Day in which you choose God. Then, celebrate. We’ll be saving a place for you because it just isn’t the same without you. You are loved beyond measure, Rev. Those opportunities may have already slipped by but NOW is the time to get ready for holiday gift giving. Purchase that plaque and surprise someone during the holidays with a permanent reminder of your love. Pick up a brochure in the foyer or see Jennifer Brecht or Mary Salerno for details.

YOU’RE INVITED TO TAKE A SURVEY

ABOUT CENTER OF UNITY We want your feedback about Center of Unity. You will be receiving a link to a survey this month. The short survey will ask you to rate how well Center of Unity is doing in many areas, ask for suggestions on improvements, events, changes you’d like to see, and any comments you’d like to share. The survey is anonymous and you will not be identified by name; rather, a number will be assigned to each survey. The survey link should arrive in your email from Center of Unity so be on the lookout. We appreciate

all you do and truly appreciate your response to the survey, even if you haven’t attended in awhile. Because of you, we continue to evolve and become all that we’re meant to be.

Thanks to Stephen Thornton and Allan and Helen Werst, our church participated in the Buddy Poppy Sales for Memorial Day. The poppy is the Veterans of Foreign War official memorial flower and represents the bloodshed by American service members.

Veterans in VA hospitals and domicilaries and in state veterans’ homes assemble the poppies. The proceeds benefit disabled and needy vets as well as widows and orphans of deceased heroes. Once again, our congregation contributed generously to this wonderful cause.

If you’re hesitant to be a donor, consider how much good a pint of blood does. ♥ Besides giving a patient whole blood, the components can be isolated and given to more than one recipient. ♥ Red blood cells can be used to help accident victims, surgical patients and people with anemia. ♥ Platelets can be used by patients receiving treatment for leukemia and cancer, those undergoing surgery and

others with low-platelet conditions. ♥ Plasma is effective in replacing lost blood volume and treating patients suffering from burns and certain

other diseases. It’s said that for every one thousand people who can give blood, only four do. Currently, Carter requires 1,100 blood donors a day in order to meet the needs of our community, and summer is a traditionally “low donor” time, so please share the gift of life with others who are or will be in need. In January, 10 of our people donated whole blood, helping save 30 lives! Let’s beat that count this month. Donors may sign up at the Information Center.

Wishing you a safe and happy 4th of July!

Each week a volunteer leads a Discussion Group focusing on Rev. Carol's 3 message points from the previous week's service. Discussions are informal and look at ways to apply the points to every day life. If you missed the previous Sunday,

this is a wonderful way to hear what others have to say about the service. Maybe you attended and don’t

understand a certain concept or phrase. Bring that to the group to hear other perspectives. There is not one way of understanding anything. This group offers the opportunity to explore various viewpoints.

DISCUSSION GROUP

Sundays

Sunday, July 5 at 10:10 am

Invite friends and family and join us as The Wing and a Prayer Chorale presents, “We Are America.” The Wing and a Prayer Chorale feels that it is very appropriate and fitting that we celebrate the freedoms we hold dear as a nation, and, at the same time, sound a clarion call to remember our spiritual selves, because… We Are America!

Thank You, God,

For abundance that is making my life richer,

For blessings filling my life now.

Thank You for loving me and being with me right where I am,

Thank You for Divine ideas that help me prosper in a continuous way

in every area of my life, now, and in the future.

Amen

Positive Prayer inspired by Rev. Chris Chenoweth

Join us in the Prayer Room or in the Prosperity Prayer circle each Sunday after second service. We’ll pray affirmative prayer with and for you. Care Team Prayer Line 817-251-2341

Each week, we get to attend a fabulous service of our choosing – 8:15 or 10:10. We drop our kids off to learn Unity Principles; we listen to an inspiring talk and hear great music. We’re greeted with kindness, we’re made as comfortable as possible, newcomers are shown the church and welcomed with friendliness. These cherished services are made possible by our many volunteers, who selflessly give of themselves to serve our church community. Each week, YOU have an opportunity to be part of this exclusive team. Currently, we have the following positions available, inviting you to step up and become a greater part of your own spiritual experience. We ask for a 6 month commitment, once a month for an hour or two. It’s small price to pay for the greater experience of Sunday at Center of Unity. If something interests you, call Mary at 817-488-1008 for more information, or email her at [email protected] or if you’re interested in teaching, contact Amber at the same phone number or [email protected].

We are thrilled and thankful that all positions are filled at both services on the fourth Sunday of each month!
