A constellation, in astronomy, is a conventional cluster of stars. In the sky we see stars, nebulae, clusters ... that belong to a particular constellation. Of the 88 constellations of the sky, the best known are the twelve Zodiac, each representing an animal. Besides these, Ptolemy recognized 48 constellations made up of over 1,000 stars in the second century. C. Much later, in 1925 last century internationally established the 88 constellations we know today: 48 correspond to the observations of Ptolemy and the other to the discoveries of the modern era. It is customary to divide constellations into two groups, depending on where they are celestial hemisphere:northern constellations, located north of the celestial Ecuadorsouthern constellations, to the south. The stars that can be seen on a clear night are certain figures we call "constellations", and used to more easily locate the position of the stars. Astronomers believe the Milky Way center is located in the constellation of Sagittarius. The zodiac is a band of sky where apparently transiting the Sun and planets. During the V century a. C., the region was divided into 12 equal parts (one for each month of the year) to which they gave the name of the nearest constellation (groups that might well have existed before the invention of the Zodiac itself). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IwRIu76TY-k

A team of astronomers has discovered 50 new exoplanets (planets do not revolve around the Sun), among which 16 are Earth-like planets. One of them orbit within the limits of the habitable zone of its star, which could contain liquid water. This finding has been possible thanks to harps planet search system of the European Organization for Astronomical Research in the Southern Hemisphere. After two years of work, the team of researchers has discovered five new planets with mass that can exceed five times the size of Earth. One of these planets discovered, called HD 85512 b, has a mass of only 3.6 times that of Earth and is in an area that would allow the presence of liquid water if conditions are appropriate. Scientists at the University of Central Florida have discovered a new planet outside our solar system. The planet called ufc1.01 an exoplanet orbiting the red star called Gj436 is about two thirds the size of the earth at a distance of only 33 light-years, cosmically speaking is just around the corner as the discoverer Kevin Stevenson although this is a distance of 194 billion miles. Possibly is the closest planet to our solar system, and is smaller than our planet earth. The diameter of the planet is approximately 5.200 miles or two thirds of the land, revolves tightly around GJ 436, about seven times the distance of the earth from the moon. Its year lasts only 1.4 days of planet earth,

According to a new study finally galaxies have been detected a strange and dark, almost sinestrellasa eleven billion light years away. Astronomers have discovered an unexpected group of spiral galaxies appear to have formed recently, long after the initial period of the history of the universe in which it is thought to have formed the majority of galaxies. These girls are big and bright galaxies like our own Milky Way. The dominant hypothesis of galaxy formation holds that these shapely spirals were formed about 13 billion years ago, shortly after the Big Bang. But the new discovery of a group of 15 spirals that seem much younger can debunk that idea.

Although they are so bright and big as normal spirals, these galaxies appear to be the hallmark of youth. They lack almost half of heavy elements, called metals, which would be expected in older galaxies. But the abundance of chemical compounds in newly discovered galaxies suggests that they have approximately 3 to 4 billion years.

An eclipse is the obscuration of one celestial body by another. As the heavenly bodies are not standing still in the sky, sometimes you project the shade cover to the other, so that the latter is dark. In the case of Earth, the Moon and the Sun have two modes: solar eclipses, which consist of darkening of the Sun as seen from Earth, because of the shadow that the Moon casts, and lunar eclipses, which are darkening of the Moon as seen from Earth, because it is located in the shadow cast by the Earth. Solar eclipse occurs only on a small strip of land, because the moon, by its smaller size, does not completely hide the sun for the whole earth. Lunar eclipses can be of two types: Total: when in the shadow cone of the Earth, and partial: when only partially inserted in the shade.
