USMLE

UCN has developed a unique approach to effectively prepare students for USMLE Step I and II. We recognize the growing importance of the Board Examinations in medical education. This program consists of daily discussions in class regarding selected questions taken from established Board Review texts. This Review Program begins from semester 1 and continues until the student begins a residency program.

Apart from its own systems–UCN through TAU-HK has contracted with experienced USMLE preparation programs that shall give live, online and hands-on training for students to clear the Step 1 Exams. Even while the student is in the residency programs TAU-HK offers continuous online and paper based training, simulation and mock test for the students, etc.

Advantages of the program

µ

µ Cost saving, as you are studying in your hometown without leaving your job for the first two yearsµ Learning Management System to support you in your academic requirementsµ Clinical rotations in the United Statesµ Structured USMLE training µ Expert carrier guidance team to guide and monitor youµ Free access to learning materials like, e-books, lectures and videos

Shortages of Physicians in US

Steps to apply

µ Students can send the scanned copy of all the Educational Documents

µ The university’s admissions team will evaluate the same and confirm the eligibility

µ The Admission team will issue the Provisional Notice of Acceptance (PNOA)

µ The student accepts the PNOA and process the admission to the program

According to the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), there is an impending shortage of physicians. In 2006, AAMC recommended a 30% increase in US medical school enrollment over 2002-03 levels and the expansion of Graduate Medical Education (GME) positions by 2015 to accommodate this growth. This was based on a number of factors like aging of US population and physician workforce. It also projects a shortage of 124,000 physicians by 2025. According to the findings of Universal Health Coverage, there will be an additional shortfall of physicians in US by 4% or 31,000. Although there will be modest increase in physician productivity and the expansion of GME capacity, it will only reduce the shortage by 43% (54,000 physicians).
