Fault analysis (link) Mechanical faults (hoist + cross and long travel)

Most risky is gearbox assembly – additional mitigation with heavy duty gearbox

Electrical faults Cubicles (power and control) outside radiation areas

Update on He-vessel calculations

Preliminary evaluation on the He-vessel structural issues Assuming vacuum needed before refilling with He

Case studied: 100 mm thick – 250 ton 50 mm thick – 125 ton 50 mm thick – lateral stiffeners 50 mm clamped

Max total deformation 36 mm Max reaction force 1.2 MN Stress ~175 MPa, good safety factors with S235/S355 SSS

Other solutions under investigation (i.e. screw pushing the blocks)!

Discussion on cooling and ventilation matters

19th September 2013

Design air-tightness parameter (until CE parameters will be available) 0.6 vol/h @50Pa

Morgue will be at a lower pressure with respect to target hall

In the next days a proposition on the pressure cascade will be discussed Flow estimation !

Radioprotection and radionuclide emission

According to present calculations, 44 TBq/y would be released if extraction would be immediate; 30 TBq/y are due to 15O, with a t1/2 of 2 min;

If air could be released with a delay of 5 to 10 minutes, the effective dose to public will be minimal

Next: When ventilation flow will be know, the effect of

continuous release will be evaluated by HSE
