How Language Pages work

• Pages are connected so that French pages link to French pages and English pages link to English pages

• At the top of each page, the viewer can choose which language he/she wants

Valuable Multiple Language Info

• All English pages were created using the “c1ln” (one column, left-hand navigation) template and use the NavBar1 library item for left hand navigation

• All French pages were created using the “c1lnfrench” template and use the NavBar1french for left had navigation

To open the site

• Go Start, Programs, Adobe Dreamweaver CS3– Here you can open any website file you want

Change Text on One Page

• Simply open the desired page, for example, Coating Technology, edit the desired text, and save.

• When you click save, if a window pops up asking you if you would like to save the page as a template, click cancel

• Instead click file, save as, (use the same file name), and then click OK

Change Text on Multiple Pages

• If the content is a library item (i.e. last updated, navbar1, contact us) then when it is changed every page that has that library item will change also

After opening a page there will be a list on the right side of your screen. Be sure “Assets” is selected

Click on the library item you would like to change (see next slide for description of files)

You won’t find the “Last updated” on the screen until you view a “published like” form of the page (Press F12). It will appear in the lower right-hand corner

Multiple Page Change cont.

• Once you have opened the item change the text or link you need to

• When you save the change a box will pop up asking you to update all pages using that library item

• Click update

• Be sure both boxes (library items and templates) are checked, click start, then close

• If there are any other pages open, you will have to save each one in order for the change to take affect

• Upload the changes to the internet

Creating a New Page

• Click File, New, Page type: HTML, Create

• Once the blank page opens, click Modify, Template, Apply Template to page

Depending on the page you are making (English or French) choose the correct template

• Add the content you wish in the “Main Content” area

• To add a table, click Insert, Table and then choose the size of table you want

• You can resize the table once it’s inserted, making sure its width does not exceed the length of the “Mountains and Minds” box at the top of the page

Making Links

• To make a link to a page within the website highlight the word(s), right click and then select “Make Link”. Select which file you want the words to link to, hit enter.

• To make a link to another website, copy and paste the link into the “URL” box of the link box

Uploading Changes to the Internet

• Click Window, Files and you will see this in the right-hand side of your screen

• Click on the blue “up” arrow• It will ask “Do you want to put the

entire site?” answer yes and thesite will be uploaded

• ***Be sure you are logged on toPaul’s account for this part or else it won’t work!!****
