» Financial Aid Facts˃ Financial Aid is funds provided to students and
families to help pay for postsecondary educational expenses
˃ Last year (2009-10), there was $154 billion in financial aid awarded to undergraduate students.
˃ Cost of attendance includes: (see handout)+ Tuition, books and on-campus housing costs+ Necessary expenses such as transportation, personal care,
not paid to the college
˃ All costs combined determines the cost of attendance for the college. Depends on the school.
»Where do the financial aid come from:
˃ Federal Government+ Must have financial need+ Awarded by applying through FAFSA every year enrolled
˃ State+ Awarded on basis of merit-scholastic and financial need+ Utilize information from FAFSA
