History, beauty, scarcity, importance…there are many factors behind the ongoing demand for Australia’s final £1 and 10/-. With the notes before you, however, the most enticing characteristic is the near flawless about Uncirculated quality.

Among the most significant types in the

Australian banknote series, the 1961 Elizabeth II Reserve Bank 10/- and £1 were issued for only a few years at the end of the predecimal period. Subject to the highest circulation rates as lower denominations, these historic, short-lived types are desirable in any grade – and a must-have in the superior

quality available here. Part of a recent small hoard find, obviously stashed away soon after issue in the early 1960s, these particular Reserve Bank £1 and 10/- notes are conservatively graded at about Uncirculated.The final predecimal signposts on the road to decimalisation in 1966,

The last predecimal issues, the Coombs/Wilson Reserve Bank £5 and £10 are justly acknowledged as among Australia’s most historically important notes. Completely redesigned upon Queen Elizabeth’s ascent to the throne, the £1 note of George VI forms a distinctive link with a very different Australia. Unique $1 DBP Test Note!

Rare Error Test Note type!

Radical mis-cut Error!

With the existence of the 1997 $5 Macfarlane/Evans Test Note not revealed until five years after issue, it can be a real challenge for the

collector to acquire this key type in strictly Uncirculated quality – as presented here

It was in 2002 that the Reserve Bank of Australia confirmed the existence

of a very limited $5 ‘Test’ print-run. Instigated to trial new inks in the $5, and recognised by prefixes ranging from AN97 to DN97, only 300,000 such notes were issued. With a huge percentage of the tiny print-run lost, destroyed or well circulated, it stands to reason that the number of premium grade examples still in existence is very low.

Distinguished by prefixes from AP – the third prefix in the series – to CS97, we have just a few of these distinctive types in stock – all in pristine Uncirculated condition.

A unique and interesting variety from Australia’s decimal paper note series, the $1 DBP Test Note is important, scarce and highly sought after – especially in premium grade Uncirculated quality, as presented here.

In an attempt to determine the distribution, and speed of circulation,

of Australian banknotes, the RBA released one million $1 notes into the economy the mid-1970s as a ‘test’ run. Distinguished by the prefix ‘DBP’ – for a long time erroneously believed to stand for Durable Banknote Paper – a vast majority of these Test notes were well used before this unique type was discovered. Of the tiny print run of just one million notes, a

very small percentage remains in high grade. Your chance to secure this genuinely scarce note variety in the highest possible quality, we have the $1 Knight/Wheeler DBP Test Note in Uncirculated condition.

Seldom seen on the market in top grade, this distinctive 1997 Macfarlane/Evans $5 is one of few known Error types from the $5 Test print-run outlined above.
