Recycling Cart Information

When does my recycling cart get picked up? The City of Cudahy contracts with Advanced Disposal for residential recycling pick up. Residential recycling is picked up every other week using the City issued cart. Carts must be free & clear of obstacles and must be placed out by 6:00 am on your recycling pick up day.

Why wasn’t my cart picked up? Reasons why your cart was not picked up: Wasn’t out in time, Might’ve been placed too close to an obstruction, Blocked by a car, Frozen in the snow, Material was stacked on top of the cart OR, It was not your recycling pick up week. For Alley Service: if the entire alley is not picked up, it could be due to a vehicle blocking the alley which prohibits truck access. Collection trucks are large and need the full width of the alley. Frequently, cars or service vehicles are parked in & along the alley. This precludes pick-up. If alleys are obstructed, Advanced Disposal is not required to go back & pick up garbage. Please make sure you and your neighbors do not obstruct the alley.

What can I put in my recycling cart? Plastic containers marked No. 1-7, Aluminum Cans, Tin or Bi-Metal Containers, Glass Containers, Paper & Cardboard. Cans should be rinsed thoroughly & cardboard should be flattened prior to putting in cart. NO contaminated cardboard, ie. pizza boxes (this should go in your garbage cart). Items do not need to be separated.

What if I can’t fit everything in my cart? If you experience ongoing issues having too much recycling material, the property owner can contact the Department of Public Works & order an extra recycling cart for a fee. All Cudahy residents may also take their overflow recycling material to the Drop-Off site when it is open.
