A good approximation is 150% the font size so: 12px font = 18px line-height

Go through every bit of text and element and think is this really crucial?

4. Points system

Start a points total of 20. Give a value to every element or independent section of the page a value adding up to a total of 20. The most important elements have the highest number of points.This allows you to refine and possibly remove elements and give more emphasis to the important sections. The moral here is for everything you remove, it adds more points and therefore power to the other elements
