POEM•1st opportunity to utilize technology

through Web 2.0 tool & Class WIKI

•Rather than hand write, students used WEB 2.0 tool from the ReadWriteThink Website to complete project

•Students used CLASS WIKI to obtain Project Directions, link to ReadWriteThink, & access WEB 2.0 tool

•Students used Web 2.0 tool GLOGSTER to complete Final Project for The Outsiders

•Students used CLASS WIKI to obtain Project Directions & access WEB 2.0 tool Glogster

• GLOGSTER allows students to create “online multimedia posters - with text, photos, videos, graphics, sounds, drawings, data attachments and more.”

• Teachers can use Glogster too! • To create Curriculum Based Projects

• Glogs can be embedded in blog, wiki, or web page

• Teacher’s Dashboard function allows you to see all students’ activities within your Teacher Dashboard• “Message” feature for Teacher-Student / Student-

THE OUTSIDERS GLOGSTER PROJECT

• GROUPING:• Pairs of 2-3• Grouped by ability & Knowledge of GLOGSTER

• COOPERATION / COLLABORATION: • Taught one another how to use program (½ who

learned Glogster in computer class taught the ½ who didn’t)

• CREATIVITY• Project choice – chose from 3 options• Each choice allowed room for creativity & invention

• COMMUNICATION• Presented their Glogs to class using computer &

projector

DIFFICULTIES ENCOUNTERED USING

GLOGSTER•Log in Issues

• Cryptic Usernames & Passwords• Students losing Username & Password

information

•Confusion over how to effectively save Glogs

•Had to use EDU.Glogster.com due to Glogster.com being blocked by school filter

USING GLOGSTERTIPS FOR SUCCESS

•Change students’ Passwords or have students change them• This will prevent headaches & save you

time/hassle of retrieving student info

•Encourage students to utilize the “Messages” feature to communicate with you & each other

•Update to EDU Premium for added “Teacher” features for monthly or yearly fee

STUDENTS’ RESPONSE TO GLOGSTER

• Students picked up on how to use Glogster very quickly• Did a great job of “teaching” one another

• Very Engaged – kept focus & were tuned in like I had never seen

• Students LOVED project & using Glogster

• Students commented how, "This is cool!”

• Were very excited to use Glogster• Would ask to work on project
