THE WISCONSIN MBA ISN’T “ONE SIZE FITS ALL.” OUR MANAGEMENT-RELATED MBA PROGRAMS GIVE YOU UNMATCHED EXPERTISE IN STRATEGIC HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT, ARTS ADMINISTRATION, OR BRAND & PRODUCT MANAGEMENT.

For students who already know where they

are headed, Wisconsin is the place to start.

Combining a uniquely deep experience in

a designated area of study with a strong

foundation of business principles, Wisconsin

MBA students graduate with a portfolio of

skills, experience, and specialized knowledge

that allows them to hit the ground running and

immediately contribute to the success of their

organizations.

A hallmark of the Wisconsin MBA is

the extensive applied learning built into

the curriculum, providing students real

opportunities to solve problems faced by

businesses today. These applied learning

projects are interwoven with rigorous classroom

material, bringing research theory to life.

Students graduate with the ability to be a field-

specific expert while also supporting the overall

business function of the organization. They also

have lifelong access to their specific knowledge

center, which provides a bridge between their

prior academic experience and the real-world

activities sustained in their workplace.

No other MBA program can match the level

of individualized staff support we provide

in each of our 10 career specializations. Our

outstanding alumni network, engaged industry

partners, active student organizations and clubs,

and supportive community of creative and

adventurous leaders put the Wisconsin MBA out

in front.

Within the Wisconsin MBA, you’ll find:

• An innovative, applied curriculum

• Motivated, like-minded students

• Faculty and staff dedicated to your knowledge center

• An advisory board of top executives from relevant industries

A Wisconsin MBA is grounded in applied

learning, graduating individuals prepared to

add immediate value to the organizations

that employ them. Each newly admitted

student joins a relatively small MBA class of

approximately 130 participants and an even

smaller, intimate cohort of driven, accomplished

individuals who are committed to careers in

their chosen specialization. Students benefit

from a strong core business curriculum while

building an unmatched depth of knowledge and

expertise within their area of specialization. As

part of this small group, students get individual

attention, unique access to faculty and staff,

a loyal network of alumni, and a wealth of

insights from industry executives.

STRATEGIC HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENTManaging people is critical to organizational

success. But aligning people management with

organizational strategy can be challenging. If

you are up to the challenge, this field may be

right for you.

The program is a great fit for individuals who

have experience in human resources and are

looking to accelerate their careers. It also meets

the needs of motivated individuals looking to

enter HR. The common thread is a commitment

to making a difference in organizational

performance through managing people.

The Wisconsin MBA in Strategic Human

Resource Management puts an emphasis

on strategic thinking, and on quantifying

the impact of human resource decisions

on business performance. The program is

designed for people who want to become

leaders in the human resource field. It produces

human resource generalists, consultants, and

specialized professionals.

In addition to a foundation in the functional

areas of business, you will gain specialized

knowledge relating to strategic management

of human resources, including compensation,

staffing, employee and labor relations,

management of organizational change, and

negotiation.

Graduates of the program are known for their

ability to combine analytical skills, knowledge

of people, and strategic insights to help their

organizations make the most of their

ARTS ADMINISTRATIONManagers and business leaders of arts

organizations provide an essential bridge

between art, artists, and audiences. They

combine the tools of business—management,

marketing, accounting, finance, operations,

negotiation—with the tools of community-

building—fundraising, development, education,

outreach, volunteerism, partnership—to make

thriving and vital spaces for arts and culture.

The Wisconsin MBA in Arts Administration

prepares students for the special challenges of

working in arts and culture, with an emphasis

on nonprofit, public, and community-based

organizations.

Students learn through intensive business

coursework and hands-on project assistantships

with campus and community organizations,

providing significant work experience while

in school. Part-time project-level appointments

with the Madison Symphony Orchestra,

Wisconsin Union, Overture Center for the Arts,

Dane County Cultural Affairs Commission,

Wisconsin Public Radio, UW-Madison Arts

Institute, and other host organizations ensure a

healthy mix of theory and practice throughout

the program.

Students also gain direct insight from innovative

and experienced practitioners through a guest

lecture series, alumni events and connections,

on-line discussions, national conference

participation, and real-world research projects

and consultancies.

The Bolz Center for Arts Administration is

one of the nation’s oldest and most respected

business degree programs in arts and cultural

management, and one of the few to offer

an MBA. Our alumni manage hundreds of

millions of dollars worth of cultural facilities

Faculty in the Management and Human

Resources Department at the Wisconsin School

of Business are thought leaders in many

areas, including strategy, entrepreneurship,

organizational learning and innovation,

motivation, employee and executive

compensation, employee turnover, and other

aspects of human resources.

Research by the faculty is widely published,

and has had a major impact both in academic

circles and on the practice of management.

Management and Human Resources faculty seek

answers to the questions of the day and bring

their findings into the classroom.

The Weinert Center for Entrepreneurship

is another valuable resource for Wisconsin

students. The center is dedicated to teaching,

research, and service in entrepreneurial

management and enterprise development.

Students with a wide range of interests may take

classes in entrepreneurship and other related

topics in preparation for roles as business

owners and managers, venture capitalists,

or consultants to smaller businesses. The

department offers a graduate-level certificate in

entrepreneurship to students who complete a

series of classes in the area.

The Business, Environment, and Social

Responsibility program, housed within the

Wisconsin School of Business, also offers a

graduate-level certificate for completion of

a series of classes focused on sustainability.

This program’s mission is to provide students,

executives, and organizations with education,

knowledge, and tools in order to drive

innovation in sustainable enterprise.

In addition, the Wisconsin MBA has achieved

the endorsement of numerous outside parties

by achieving the following rankings:
