EXHILARATING PERFORMANCE

The smart young man from Lexus politely hands over the key fob. Three floors below, the first all-electric Lexus is ready to go, and it’s ours for the day. I should be giddy with anticipation, yet I’m feeling some trepidation.

Disclosure: I’ve never even ridden in an Electric Vehicle (EV), never mind driven one. And I have my misgivings. Will it deliver on the range it promises? And will there be a connection - that elusive something that has you wishing your journey will never end?

“THIS DOESN’T LOOK LIKE AN ‘ELECTRIC CAR’.” Approaching the gleaming SUV outside, this doesn’t look like an ‘electric car’. This is every inch a Lexus, embodying its sleek lines and characteristically bold design, with a spacious boot and room aplenty for five.

Things get off to a good start. Just sitting in the UX 300e dismisses a prejudice I’ve harboured towards EVs – that the focus on kilowatts and battery range must compromise interior quality. None of that here. The supple leather hide*. The heated*, hand-stitched steering wheel.

EXHILARATING PERFORMANCE

AN ELECTRIFYING EXPERIENCEThe all-electric UX delivers an amazing driving feel that is unique to Lexus.

“PADDLE SHIFTERS OFFER A CONNECTION WITH THE UX 300e THAT’S BOTH INTIMATE AND PLAYFUL.” I press the Power button. The silence is striking, heightening the anticipation. As I caress the accelerator, every pulse is met with an immediate and direct linear response. Helped by the UX 300e’s low centre of gravity – with the battery tucked neatly under the body - this is control beyond what I am used to, more akin to that of a video console, but always with refinement.

The city streets are a perfect canvas on which to experiment with the car’s four deceleration modes. Controlled by paddle shifters behind the steering wheel, they offer a connection with the UX 300e that’s both intimate and playful. When I comment on the smooth acceleration, my Lexus concierge is quick to tell me how the clever Power Control Unit actually compensates for a driver’s erratic pedal movements, smoothening out the acceleration. I’m impressed.

“EVERY MOVE IS EFFORTLESS, CONFIDENT AND PRECISE.” Leaving the motorway for a few hours in the lush countryside, the UX 300e is taking the twists and turns with a lightness and agility that is, well, electric. Every move is effortless, confident and precise. And quiet. So quiet you feel you are engaged with the road in a different, more personal way.

Evening approaches and we are back to the clamour of the city, to see another side to the UX 300e: the panoramic view monitors that make parking (often free parking for EVs) a breeze, and the LexusLink app that locates rapid chargers in my neighbourhood. As we pull up, my concierge tells me about the car’s 8 year (or 100,000 mile) EV Battery Extended Care scheme. If he needed to seal the deal, I think he just has.

Time to hand back the UX 300e. I’m really going to miss this impressive new EV from Lexus. However, I can’t help thinking it’s not so much about the car and all of the amazing technology, but how it feels. And it feels great!

Tokyo: the world’s largest megacity, with 36 million inhabitants. We’re here to meet one man, and one car. They are to be found in the city’s chic Aoyoma neighbourhood, a magnet for creative minds in the worlds of design, entertainment and cuisine. Here, nestled amongst exclusive fashion houses, cafés and restaurants, Lexus has created INTERSECT BY LEXUS. It’s a place guests can come to to relax, be inspired and engage with all things Lexus.

First impressions are stunning. From the beautifully finished bamboo exterior latticework – in a pattern clearly influenced by the Lexus signature grille – to the exquisite design and craftsmanship of everything inside. It all feels very special, like a high-end, private members’ club. At the reception we are welcomed by Tetsuo Miki, Chief Designer of the New Lexus UX 300e. He’s going to give us a personal introduction to his latest creation: a new all-electric SUV created for cities like Tokyo.

SHARP SURFACES ACCENTUATE THE DYNAMIC STANCE. Miki-san takes us through to ‘The Garage’, a flexible space that can serve as an art gallery or event location. Today it’s the stage for the Lexus UX 300e, which looks very much at home in this stylish environment. The car is bold and dramatically sculpted, as you might expect from an urban SUV designed by Lexus. Miki-san tells us how it was done: “Look at the sharp surfaces. See how they contrast with the dynamic stance of the car? Energy and personality like this cannot be created digitally. In fact, a Lexus really comes to life only when our Takumi master craftspeople start sculpting the clay prototype.”

DISTINCTIVE LEXUS SIGNATURE GRILLE, ARROWHEAD-SHAPED LIGHTS. He then points out some details that his team are especially excited about. The headlights are a particular favourite. Each is made up of a compact pod of three LED units* which, together with the arrowhead-shaped Daytime Running Lights and Lexus signature grille, give a strong character to the car’s face. At the rear, the ultra-thin one-piece LED combination light is beautifully shaped. But it’s more than that. Amazingly, it makes a big contribution to the car’s handling and performance. “When we test drove the car, we really felt how the aerodynamic fins integrated in the rear light gave the vehicle much more stability,” says the Chief Designer.

RELAX IN A SPACIOUS DRIVER-FOCUSED COCKPIT. Time now to admire the interior. The UX 300e has relatively compact exterior dimensions, but the team wanted to ensure that the inside felt open and spacious. One of their solutions was inspired by the brand’s cultural heritage. Miki-san explains: “Japanese houses often have a veranda, which manages the boundary between the inside and the outside – so you can pass easily from one to the other. The Lexus UX 300e has something similar: we’ve made a seamless connection between the inside and outside of the car, with the upper section of the instrument panel appearing to extend beyond the windshield to the exterior. It gives you a nice open feeling and if you’re the driver it means you get a good sense of the extremities of the car, making it much easier to manoeuvre in confined spaces.”

While we’re experiencing this from the driver’s seat, we are able to take in other aspects of the interior: the way, for example, that everything of importance is located around the driver, with all the controls falling naturally to hand (there’s a clever centre console with a palm rest that has the audio controls built in). Then there’s the comfort of the quilted seat backs and the elegant ‘less is more’ approach, which makes the interior feel so relaxed and uncluttered.

In fact, there is no shortage of talking points, and Miki-san is very happy to indulge our curiosity – over an exquisitely prepared lunch in the stylish second-floor restaurant.

ELECTRIFIED INSTRUMENTSThe first all-electric Lexus features a futuristic digital speedometer, driving range display and deceleration mode indicator. Another central point of interaction with the driver is the finely crafted drive selector, which replaces the conventional gear stick on the UX 300e.

IMPRESSIVE LUGGAGE SPACEInstalled safely below the rear seats and cabin floor, the compact lithium-ion battery scarcely impacts on the rear seating, while rear luggage space is a voluminous 367 litres (loaded to luggage cover). For added convenience, a hands-free power rear back door* eases loading of the UX 300e and for maximum flexibility, the rear seats split 60/40.

TAKUMI CRAFTSMANSHIPTAKUMI CRAFTSMANSHIP

Whilst the New UX 300e is manufactured at the super-modern Lexus Kyushu plant in southern Japan, the heritage behind its design and craft is rich and far-flung. Hoping to learn more about it, I find myself at a traditional Japanese aikido club in downtown Fukuoka, not far from the Lexus factory.

I’ve come to interview Lexus’ Interior Designer, Keiko Shishido. Her petite, stylish appearance is at odds with the brute strength of the martial arts club, yet she immediately commands attention. Her words draw from the art galleries she loves to frequent, the hours she spends watching people on the street and the ideas she is constantly storing.

LEATHER SEATS CRAFTED USING THE 1,200 YEAR-OLD ‘SASHIKO’ TECHNIQUE. One of the aikido masters approaches. A friend of Shishido, I presume. He is taller than her, but I’m still perplexed as to why her attention is on his quilted ‘aikido gi’, or garment, and not his face. She asks me did I notice the intricate stitching. This is the ‘sashiko’ technique, over 1,200 years old, featuring up to 10 stitches per inch, whose strength makes it popular in aikido. Now this craft form is being used on the leather seats* of the Lexus UX 300e. Requiring a steady, skilful hand that is honed over many years, sashiko quilting is executed by Lexus’ Takumi craftspeople. Shishido smiles. The mystery behind our location is revealed.

INTERIOR TRIM RECALLING THE TEXTURE OF JAPANESE SLIDING DOORS. As we make to leave, my host points to the traditional Japanese ‘shoji’ paper sliding doors. The grain pattern of the paper – known as ‘washi’ – is recreated in the texture of the UX 300e’s instrument panel, lending a distinctive atmosphere to the entire interior. In the same breath, she tells me a colour designer is not an artist, that developing a car means working within fixed parameters. Clearly, Shishido’s art lies in drawing external influences into this brief.

PANORAMIC VIEW MONITOR*For easier driving in the city, the Panoramic View Monitor uses multiple cameras to provide a near-360° view around the entire car. It also creates a virtual 3D picture of your UX 300e, showing the vehicle as if seen from above, with on-screen guides to assist close-quarter manoeuvring.

HEAD-UP DISPLAY*Using technology first developed for jet fighter aircraft, the UX 300e’s large high-resolution colour Head-Up Display is positioned unobtrusively in your field of vision and projects key information onto the windscreen. It creates an image so crisp and sharp that even in the very brightest sunlight you’ll have no problem viewing the data.

TOUCH PAD CONTROLPerfectly positioned for a relaxing drive, the UX 300e’s large 10.3” multimedia display* can be operated either by voice command or by the new Touch Pad, which is designed to mimic smartphone operation. Its split-screen capability allows you to simultaneously access information, such as Lexus Premium Navigation and climate data.

PEACE OF MIND

INNOVATIVE BATTERY TECHNOLOGY. Installed unobtrusively under the cabin floor and rear seat, the UX 300e is powered by a newly developed 54.3 kWh battery pack made up of 288 large-capacity lithium ion battery cells. The carefully sized battery offers an optimum balance of range and driving performance. It is also intelligently positioned so the large capacity battery pack also helps to lower the car’s centre of gravity and create 367 litres of luggage space.

For maximum control, sensors monitor the voltage of each battery cell and block, as well as the battery cell temperature. This enhanced level of battery voltage control, together with the car’s advanced Battery Management System, lead to an extended driving range. For a long and trouble-free service life, the battery features advanced cooling and heating systems, while durable rubber seals protect it from all forms of water and dust.

8 YEAR EV BATTERY EXTENDED CARE. Lexus is offering an 8 year or 100,000 miles (whichever comes first) EV Battery Extended Care scheme on all functional defects of the main battery pack and capacity degradation below 70%, provided that the regular health checks foreseen in the maintenance programme are executed through the Lexus network.

BATTERY HEALTH CHECK. The standard 8 year 100,000 mile warranty can be extended to as much as 10 years or 600,000 miles (whichever comes first) through the battery health check which is part of every service at a Lexus Centre.”

BATTERY RANGE AND RECYCLING. Designed to last the entire life of the UX 300e, the lithium-ion battery pack delivers up to 196 miles of range and has been developed for minimum deterioration. Importantly for the planet, when the UX 300e reaches the end of its life span, we have a take-back scheme to ensure it is reused or recycled safely and responsibly.

EQUIPPED WITH PIONEERING ‘LEXUS ELECTRIFIED’ TECHNOLOGY. As with all Lexus cars, the New UX 300e uses innovative technology to make your life more enjoyable. This includes advanced Lexus Electrified features like four heated seats* and a heated steering wheel* for cold mornings. And the electric-powered Climate Concierge air conditioning that efficiently controls the cabin environment creates the perfect setting

in which to enjoy the world-class, 13-speaker Mark Levinson® Premium Surround Sound system*. When recharging at home, it’s also possible to see when your car will be fully charged from the comfort of your living room. As with every electric vehicle, the UX 300e needs charging at regular intervals. Having studied EV usage patterns, we carefully sized its battery so that most drivers will only need to charge once or twice a week. In most cases this will be done overnight at home using a Lexus AC charging station that we will help you install. On longer journeys, the Lexus Link app will help you identify rapid charging DC stations where you can recharge quickly whilst enjoying a coffee or comfort break.

AC CHARGING AT HOME. At home you can plug your UX 300e into the mains or a Lexus charging station via the AC charging inlet on the right side of the car. This offers clever features like a maximum charge setting that enables owners living at the top of a hill, for example, to make use of regenerative charging after leaving home. UX 300e’s charging system also lets you schedule charging times to take advantage of tariffs or make sure your EV is always fully charged at a certain time each day.

RELAX AND RECHARGEBenefit from your own Lexus home charging station and pan-European rapid charger network accessed by the LexusLink app.

RAPID DC CHARGING ON THE MOVE. Wherever you venture in the Lexus UX 300e, it is reassuring to know that you’re driving in one of the safest EVs ever built, equipped with the very latest Lexus Safety System +, which helps prevent rear-end collisions, lane departures and collisions involving pedestrians.

INCREASED CONFIDENCE WITH BLIND SPOT MONITOR* AND LANE TRACING ASSIST. On crowded motorways, or when commuting to and from work, the main dangers which a driver faces are drifting into another lane or failing to notice that the traffic ahead has slowed down. For this reason, when you start to change lane, the UX 300e instantly monitors vehicles behind with optional Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) or slows down using Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) if the vehicle ahead brakes.

The UX 300e also features Road Sign Assist (RSA), which gathers information from road signs ahead; Automatic High Beam (AHB) or Adaptive High-beam System (AHS)*, which senses vehicles ahead at night; and Lane Tracing Assist (LTA), which is particularly helpful when driving on motorways.

THE PRE-COLLISION SYSTEM EVEN DETECTS PEDESTRIANS AT NIGHT. Driving through busy downtown shopping areas, you’ll be thankful for the UX 300e’s Pre-Collision System (PCS). Using millimetre-wave radar combined with a stereo camera, it even detects pedestrians at night or bicycles appearing suddenly in front during daytime. If it senses danger, you receive a warning so you can take appropriate measures to avoid an impact. And if you still fail to react, the UX 300e will automatically increase brake pressure to help prevent a collision.

04. POWER CONTROL UNIT (PCU)For higher output and driving range, the UX 300e features a compact new PCU, with all components engineered to handle the large currents associated with an EV. To reduce noise and vibrations, it is installed on the drivetrain compartment’s main cross member. Ensuring a refined drive under all conditions, the PCU delivers smooth acceleration even when your accelerator pedal operations are slightly erratic.

05. PRECISION-ENGINEERED TRANSAXLEFor the UX 300e, Lexus engineers developed a compact new EV transaxle to deliver class-leading refinement and exceedingly low noise levels. Featuring a 3-shaft layout, the engineering team left no stone unturned in creating this single speed transmission. Areas of improvement include special gear tooth surface polishing, a soundproofing cover and a bespoke lubrication system.

06. BATTERY COOLING SYSTEMAs extreme heat reduces both battery life and performance, our engineers developed a sophisticated air-cooling system for the UX 300e’s battery. Safer and lighter than water-cooled systems, it uses refrigerated air to ensure stable battery output, even under extreme conditions such as at high speeds or during repeated rapid charging.

The flap shape is based on the ‘Gurney Flap’, which is installed on the rear wing of Formula 1 race cars to regulate the airflow and create vortices that increase downforce. Fins are integrated into the light to reduce air pressure changes by about 16%, contributing to excellent rear stability during cornering as well as in side winds. For a distinctive look, a continuous single line of light is formed by 120 LEDs, tapering gently towards the centre and measuring just 3 mm at the narrowest point.

S-FLOW CLIMATE CONTROL / CLIMATE CONCIERGEWorking hand in hand with the Battery Cooling System, Climate Concierge intelligently manages the interior environment of your UX 300e according to ambient conditions, ensuring excellent comfort and reduced power consumption. The S-Flow system can, for example, detect if seats are occupied, and regulate the climate accordingly. The system also discharges nanoe® ions, helping to fill the cabin with fresh air and creating an atmosphere that gently moisturises your skin and hair.

03. HEATED STEERING WHEEL*Offering an amazing level of luxury for this class of vehicle, the 3-spoke steering wheel on the UX 300e was adopted from the LS flagship saloon. For extra driving comfort, the grip profile was crafted and perfected by recording the pressure on the palms of our Takumi master driver. Wrapped in genuine leather, it can be heated on colder mornings, while integrated switches control audio, telephone, multi-information display, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC)and Lane Tracing Assist (LTA).

04. PADDLE SHIFTERSFor engaging performance in situations such as frequent stop-start driving in the city and when navigating winding roads, the UX 300e’s deceleration can be controlled in four levels using the paddle shifters located behind the steering wheel.

05. DRIVE SELECTORAnother central point of interaction with the UX 300e is the finely crafted drive selector. Replacing the conventional gear stick, it fits snugly in your palm and applies our very latest ‘shift-by-wire’ technology to create a premium feel for controlling Reverse, Neutral and Drive.

LEATHER SEATS / ‘SASHIKO’ QUILTING*The smooth leather upholstery available on the UX 300e is inspired by ‘sashiko’, a traditional Japanese quilting technique which is also used in the making of martial arts uniforms. The quilted leather is decorated with new perforation patterns that form mathematical curves and gradations in perfect alignment, enhancing the appearance of the seats.

01. LEXUS PREMIUM SOUND SYSTEMNew UX 300e is available with a six-speaker Lexus Premium Sound System. Creating the sensation of a live stage performance right in front of the listener, sound is efficiently delivered both directly from the speakers and reflected off the glass. To provide clear and vibrant vocal reproduction with minimal distortion, the Panasonic® speaker diaphragms are made from a resin containing bamboo charcoal and opal plant fibres, which enhances their recyclability.

02. MARK LEVINSON® AUDIO*Delivering 915 Watts of power, the UX 300e’s 13-speaker Mark Levinson® Premium Surround Sound system produces world-class sound. The ideal design was pursued for every electrical component in the system to deliver a total harmonic distortion (THD, an indicator of signal distortion) of 0.1% or less. The system includes a 150 W / 4 Ω x 12-channel (8 channels used) Class D amplifier. This unit’s ample power allows it to drive large speakers accurately, creating clear, powerful sound. Based on an optimal layout, QLS (Quantum Logic Surround) uses new acoustic processing technology to enable the system to faithfully reproduce the sound in complete accordance with the composer’s intentions.

03. OPTITRON INSTRUMENTATIONThe cockpit features a digital speedometer with a 7” TFT LCD screen. This shows a range of information with great clarity, as well as elegant animations when you enter and start up the car. For the new all-electric Lexus, we’ve added a driving range indicator and a four-level deceleration indicator.

04. HEAD-UP DISPLAY (HUD)*Vehicle data is projected in colour directly onto the windscreen. The HUD, measuring 260 mm x 97.5 mm, lets you check data such as navigation commands, audio settings or safety features, without taking your eyes off the road ahead.

05. EMERGENCY RESPONSE SYSTEM - eCALLFor your safety, eCall provides both manual and automatic emergency call functionality. TECHNOLOGY | LEXUS SAFETY SYSTEM +

01. LEXUS SAFETY SYSTEM + (LSS+)Equipped with our pioneering LSS+ that includes a Pre-Collision System (PCS), now with daytime/nighttime pedestrian detection and bicycle detection during daylight hours, UX 300e delivers class-leading safety performance.

02. PRE-COLLISION SYSTEM (PCS)The PCS on the UX 300e can now even detect pedestrians at night and bicycles during daytime. To achieve this, the camera sensitivity and dynamic range have been enhanced to help reduce accidents in the dark, for example, when a pedestrian in front of an oncoming vehicle is difficult to see due to the vehicle’s lights. Furthermore, the millimetre-wave radar detection area angle has been widened, enabling bicycles to be detected. If the system judges that the possibility of a collision is high, the brakes are automatically applied to support collision avoidance, or reduce damage in the event of a collision.

03. DYNAMIC RADAR CRUISE CONTROL (DRCC)The system uses the millimetre-wave radar sensor and a camera to detect the vehicle in front and provide control to maintain an appropriate distance. If the vehicle in front comes to a halt, the system will stop the UX 300e. When the vehicle moves off again, the UX 300e will start off and continue following. This system reduces the burden on the driver in situations requiring frequent starting and stopping.

04. ROAD SIGN ASSIST (RSA)The RSA system on the UX 300e recognises traffic signs and provides information to the driver via the multi-information display. When linked to DRCC, the car’s speed setting can be quickly reset in accordance with the speed limit recognised by RSA. All it takes is the touch of a button. RSA identifies all important road signs and warnings, including electroluminescent and flashing signs.

05. LANE TRACING ASSIST (LTA)LTA helps the driver to keep UX 300e in the centre of the lane. It is also capable of providing assistance when driving around bends with a tighter radius than the previous system. If the system determines that there is a possibility of the UX 300e departing from the lane, it will switch to departure prevention control, providing support for returning the car to the centre of the lane.

01. ADAPTIVE HIGH BEAM SYSTEM (AHS)*An adjustable LED AHS prevents the UX 300e from dazzling other road users. Independent LED chips in the headlight are enabled/disabled for precise control of the illuminated and non-illuminated areas.

02. TYRE PRESSURE WARNING SYSTEMReceiving data from a sensor installed in each tyre, the multi-information display shows tyre pressure data and warns accordingly should pressure drop in one of them. The system can reduce the risk of a puncture, while helping to improve fuel economy and tyre life.

03. PARKING SUPPORT ALERTGiving great confidence when parking at close quarters, Parking Support Alert warns of an impending collision using clearance sonar, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and a display in the rear camera.

04. REAR CROSS TRAFFIC AND BRAKING (RCTAB)*The RCTA function operates when the car is reversing. It detects obstacles around the car and vehicles approaching the area behind the car. When necessary, the system alerts you with a buzzer and a visual display in the centre display and relevant door mirrors. If required, it can apply Drive Force Control and Brake Control to avoid a collision.

05. BLIND SPOT MONITOR (BSM)*Radar devices mounted in the rear bumper detect vehicles in adjacent lanes that are not visible in the door mirrors. If the driver is indicating to change lane and a vehicle enters the blind spot, a warning signal appears in the relevant door mirror.

06. LEXUS PARKING ASSIST / PANORAMIC VIEW MONITOR*The Lexus parking assist monitor** helps you reverse into parking spaces. On the central display it shows a video image of the space into which you are reversing, and overlays guidelines to facilitate you steering the car. For easier driving in confined spaces, the Panoramic View Monitor provides a near-360° view around the entire car. It also creates a virtual 3D picture of your UX 300e, with on-screen guides to assist close-quarter manoeuvring in the city.

HIGH-RIGIDITY PLATFORMFor class-leading steering precision and driving refinement, the high performance level of the UX’s GA-C platform has been further enhanced by the extra rigidity of the UX 300e’s underfloor battery, which is secured by cross members. An angular frame construction at the rear of the car and strengthened EV transaxle mounting complete the extremely rigid chassis.

02. LOW CENTRE OF GRAVITYUX 300e delivers agile handling and pure, direct acceleration, giving you a greater sense of confidence and precise control. With its low centre of gravity and all heavier components concentrated at the car’s centre, cornering enjoyment is enhanced, while the strengthened chassis and extra rigidity of the battery unit contribute to precise steering.

03. ADVANCED AERODYNAMICSUX 300e boasts a number of features which add to its aerodynamic efficiency. The rear combination light reduces air pressure changes by about 16% and contributes to excellent rear stability during cornering as well as in side winds. In addition, aerodynamic shutters in the lower front grille are opened and closed automatically, depending on the battery state, to reduce the EV’s coefficient of drag to 0.31. Also unique to UX 300e, the car’s underfloor covers have been enlarged and the bottom surface of the battery has been made flat and smooth, creating an aerodynamic underbody structure.

04. TAKUMI-TUNED SUSPENSIONMacPherson strut front suspension and a double wishbone arrangement at the rear have been designed and tuned to promote ride comfort and sharp response. For models equipped with 18" wheels, the frictional characteristics of the oil seals, rod guide, oil and piston band have been optimised, suppressing unnecessary movement of the sprung weight. Working with our Takumi master drivers, UX 300e’s suspension has been tuned to provide the appropriate wheel rate and damping to quell any uncomfortable pitching.

05. ELECTRIC POWER STEERING (EPS)An EPS system with a more compact and rigid column assist has been chosen for UX 300e, with a larger diameter column shaft. For a more direct and precise steering feel, a reinforcement brace has been added to the steering gearbox on the front suspension member. This addition ensures extra responsiveness the instant the driver begins to turn, realising the deep and clear steering feel that is characteristic of a Lexus.

06. DRIVE MODE SELECTThe Drive Mode Select controller has been placed beside the meter hood bezel so that it can be operated without requiring a significant deviation from your line of sight or change in your driving position. Eco, Normal and Sport modes are standard on all UX 300e models.

Equipped with one Type 2 charging socket, the 22 kW Connected Wallbox is a smart charging solution for home and semi-public applications. Featuring LAN, WiFi and optional LTE, the integrated RFID module ensures fast and secure access. Home Start − One in four breakdowns happen at the

home address. Home Start allows you to enjoy all the benefits of Lexus Roadside Assistance from your home address.

Personal assistance − Lexus Roadside Assistance is designed to

look after you – not just your vehicle. So even if you are a passenger in someone else’s car you can still receive Lexus Roadside Assistance.

Replacement vehicle − A replacement vehicle will be provided

free of charge (excluding petrol and other consumables) for up to three days, provided we have taken your vehicle to a Lexus Centre for repairs following a breakdown.

Hotel accommodation − If a replacement vehicle is unavailable, we

will arrange a hotel for you and your family for up to £150 per person to a maximum of £500, for one night.

Onward travel − If a replacement vehicle is unavailable and

you would like to make your own travel arrangements following a breakdown, we will reimburse the cost of this up to £150 per person, to a maximum of £500.

European travel − If you travel across Europe your Roadside

ELECTRIC BATTERY WARRANTY COVER AND BATTERY HEALTH CHECK

Lexus has over 20 years of experience with advanced batteries due to our use of Lexus Self-Charging Hybrid technology, and all of this knowledge has been used to develop the large capacity Lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery in the UX 300e.

This experience alongside careful monitoring and battery management also gives us confidence to offer a standard 8-year/ 100,000 mile warranty (whichever comes first) on the battery. This is extendable to 10 years (or 600,000 miles, whichever comes first) with the Battery Health Check included in each service.
